Glenbard West High School

This review is for Duchon Field only. I spent MANY hours there yesterday at a track meet and it is a beautiful facility. You can see Lake Ellyn from the bleachers and it is very picturesque.
The parking is somewhat limited for these sports events and is VERY hard to find. Parking on nearby streets is restricted and there’s barely any parking near the lake.
There are indoor bathroom facilities as well as the Johnny On the Spots. The concession area is easy to get to. Too bad they were out of most food when I went there.
It’s a shame I can’t legitimately review the organization in charge of the track meet. Although there were many fast runners there, those working the meet were VERY slow. This was the second meet I have been to at this facility and the amount of time between heats and different events is ridiculous! Us parents could come down from the bleachers, take a few laps ourselves and they STILL wouldn’t be ready!

i am so much a product of glenbard west that it is impossible for me to give it the rating that objectivity would give it – three stars.
i was managing editor of the student newspaper. the recommendation written by the faculty advisor got me into yale and they wrote to her saying that her letter was rare in their experience. she gave me their letter.
i was also a first string wrestler the first two years and found this formative.
teachers were all good, some excellent.
the reason i would objectively give glenbard three stars is that at yale, i was not as well prepared as others, scholastically. i offset this deficit with adventuresomeness.
i will always extoll glenbard, when it gets down to the nitty gritty. and after all, i did get into yale, didn’t i!

I graduated from Glenbard West in ’99. Overall it was a pretty good public school. The teachers were well qualified, and the school seemed to have enough funding to provide for the needs of the students. It’s a pretty large school, but there seemed to be enough teachers/​faculty per student. Where Glenbard West loses some stars is not going far enough with extra programs concerning technology. Things may be changing now, but even in the late 90s computers were a major part of every day life.
