Jamie M.

Business Owner

Destination Organization creator Jamie Martin has a passion for helping others and fulfills this through her career as a professional organizer.

Upon graduation from Northern Illinois University, Jamie started her career in consumer products marketing and worked for First Alert, Sunbeam-​Oster, Home Products International and Fellowes. Jamie even touched upon her future career while working as product manager of bath and kitchen organization products.

After starting a family and deciding corporate life was no longer for her, Jamie sought out the flexibility of being an entrepreneur. She found her new career in professional organizing.

Jamie has had life-​long training as an organizer and continues her education through reading, networking and attending events through the National Association of Professional Organizers

I needed help with two rooms full of boxes, furniture and stuff after we moved into a new house. The basement in particular was jam packed and completely overwhelming. Jamie was so pleasant to work with. I was concerned a professional organizer might be too «directive» but Jamie actually jumped right in and helped unpack boxes, carried stuff upstairs and to the trash cans. She has a great system for keeping things moving. She was definitely the kick start I needed to finish the unpacking and putting away process. Such relief to have it finished and looking organized! I highly recommend her!

Jamie worked with me to organize my kitchen, pantry and laundry room. What a difference she made in my life! Managing my home is much easier now that everything has a place. Jamie worked quickly, helped keep me stay on track and she had great ideas to make the rooms function better. I will be calling her back soon to get the rest of the house organized.

I contacted Jamie to help me clean out a room in our home that no longer served any purpose, it was our «old» dining room that no longer was, due to a massive kitchen redo we had completed several months earlier. The room became a collection of anything we didn’t know what to do with — mostly kids’ stuff Jamie helped me to first clean out the room, create space for the things we wanted and then donate the rest. Without all the noise, I could finally see the potential for this space. The day we finished the room, my kids came home from school and used the room for hours. They were thrilled that they could find what they wanted and could even put it all back, because there was designated space for their things.
The process of working with Jamie was amazing because she was gentle, but firm. She kept me on task and every week she came back and we were able to do more and more. Because of Jamie’s expertise and help with one part of our house, my husband and I had the energy to take on other projects on our own. None of this would have been possible if Jamie had not first showed me the way.
I called Jamie because I knew I needed help but I didn’t really know what kind of help. She really listened and gently nudged me in the right direction. I’m so grateful for this experience. I feel lighter and more organized. Plus, she helped us fall in love with our house again. Thank you Jamie.

Absolutely the best! One may be hesitant to let an absolute stranger into their home, but Jamie was professional, focused and respectful. Beyond that, she was more than I could have hoped for when we decided to work together to get my home more manageable. The ultimate compliment that I think I can give is that my teenage kids always wanted to know when Jamie would be coming back to work on another project with me. I cant say enough good things and highly recommend that you look no further.

I hired Jamie to help plan an efficient remodel in our basement as well a organize several eyesore areas in our house. My husband and i have done several remodel projects ourselves but always recognized mistakes in storage or efficiency after the fact. Jamie helped us anticipate spacing and storage proactively– so we were more confident in proceeding with our do-​it-​yourself plan. Jamie then very patiently made several suggestions as to sorting out our clutter closets and other areas in our home. She suggested great products to address the uniquely sized spaces and gave me «assignments» that I could do step by step in between all the chaos of being a mom and full time worker. I have to say I felt that I accomplished a lot in a short time, and that I will be able to keep up the processes Jamie suggested. Our basement remodel is a big investment and the stress relief Jamie brought to our planning process was completely worth it. I hadn’t thought of using a professional organizer in that capacity but i really love how we were able to anticipate problems with storage and process flow before it was too late and everything was already built.

It’s time! Organize your life. If you are like me and have accumulated lots of stuff over the years, it is extraordinarily helpful to have a skilled professional to help you see your home and office in a different light (literally). Jamie is an expert at organization; almost an interior designer. I had parameters surrounding how my closets, garage, office and living areas should look — she sought out the best quality and «fashion forward» devices to make my project a success. I am never ashamed to open a cupboard or invite a guest into my garage :)
She not only provides guidance in how to organize your things — but gives you insight into how to think about things differently. The «workflow» of your things in respect to where you use, wash and recycle them has made me more productive — I never really have to thing about where things are as they now «make sense». She has given me a different perspective on being wasteful and how to conserve for the benefit of the environment. She even has made an impact on how I use my computer and phone as they are organized and devoid of junk!
As you imagine, a person with these types of skills is also very professional, prompt, courteous and surprisingly affordable — well worth the cost for the benefits of a streamlined life.
