I feel like a king when I shop here. The prices are very low and there are lots of fun foreign treats to try. When you shop here you should be prepared to pack your own grocerys and to bring a quarter to get a grocery cart.

I used to go to Aldi with my grandmother when we were both a few decades younger. Now, it is a great place to grab your pantry essentials without breaking the bank. This is not a high end grocery chain, so don’t expect the extra things associated with one. They don’t take credit(cash and debit are OK), and they don’t have shopping bags. Bring your own bags or hunt for empty boxes in the store to carry your things home in! As for the quality, it can be hit or miss. Some times, things are great; other times… not so much. Just be smart and you’ll stay happy.

John’s review pretty much sums up my feelings. A great place for rock-bottom prices on milk, bread, and produce. Very few, if any, name brand boxed or canned foods. Their store brands are average in taste — but a good price. I just buy staples here. Once in awhile you can get a great deal on meat — turkeys, hams, steaks, etc. They are a German company and that explains the selection of German products — mainly sweets. Besides a quarter for the cart(which you get back) bring your own bags! They charge for theirs.

I confess to having a soft spot in my heart for Aldi. It probably has something to do with the fact that it’s the last place I shopped with my Dad, who always loved a good value. You’ll find great prices on a limited selection of staples like milk, butter, cheese, lettuce, carrots, potatoes, and onions, apples, pears, grapes, lemons, etc. You can make a meal out these things, but usually won’t find anything beyond the basics. There’s frozen, jarred, and boxed foods, also with the emphasis on low price. If you look carefully, you will find some fun things, like the items I picked up tonight: German chocolate @ $ 1.69/ 4 oz. bar, roasted pistachios @ $ 6.69/lb., and Priano Gelato(Raspberry Almond Fudge) @ $ 2.99÷900 ml package. Remember to bring cash or a debit card — checks and credit are NOT accepted. And don’t forget a quarter, which you insert into a chain lock to release your shopping cart. You’ll get your quarter back when you return the cart. This system eliminates cart retrievers, parking lot clutter, and probably has saved some dings in customer vehicles, too.
