Great place for sandwiches! The staff is friendly and fast. Great selection of sandwiches that you will not get at Subway or other chain deli restaurants. So far so yummy are the Padow’s Club on sourdough toasted, #27 on marble rye with thousand island, and Padow’s House Special on white. Definitely a local business worth supporting!

Once again Padow’s made my day! I was grocery shopping for my upcoming holiday and I needed Smithfield Country or Red Eye ham for the White House Rolls. I always have make those during the holiday. Well after finding Kroger and Martin’s were sold out and hadn’t had this ham for weeks I didn’t know where to go. One of my friends reminded me Padow’s seemed to always have Smithfield Ham. I rushed over and sure enough, they were slicing it before customers got in line as they knew thats the only way they could keep up with their orders. The sweet lady behind the counter assured me they would not run out. It’s one of their best sellers this time of year. SO I got what I needed and am assured the next time I even think about Country Ham(Smithfield) I will come here to Padow’s. And since it’s time for some gift giving… you can’t leave their store without buying some of their famous peanuts in a tin can! Awesome gift!

The people at this location are great. Very friendly. The food is always good and the prices are reasonable. The one drawback was the meatball sub. Just not good. The other sandwiches are good and they have great pecan pie.

Hadn’t ordered from here in a while, wow have they gotten cheap. Seriously, $.89 for half an ounce of coleslaw and the American cheese is a slice of processed cheese food… really?

Easily the best deli in Richmond. Trust me. I’ve tried them all. As a transplanted Yankee from Philly area, I grew up on the best fresh Kosher deli meals. When I moved to Richmond 30+ years ago, i was truly lost in the wilderness of grits, biscuits and ham sandwiches on white bread with mayo. Then I found Padow’s. No, they’re definitely not a Kosher deli, but they do an excellent imitation of one. My favorite is #9 on «Jewish» rye with corned beef, russian dressing and cole slaw. No cheese. Cold not toasted or nuked. This is NOT a modified Reuben either. Try it. You’ll like it.

I am a «Deli Fan» from way back, and there are Good & Bad Delis. Padow’s is certainly NOT one of the BAD Delis, as their food is Fresh and Hot… So, I was anxious to try Padow’s even though they have ONLY been in this particular location for a short time. I was thinking about the New York Yankee Sandwich, however when I saw, «The Sailor» Sandwich being offered… I JUST had to go for it. It is an Original Richmond, Va sandwich which was created by the New York Deli in Carytown during WWII. So, since Padow’s offered The Sailor to the Customers, than they are feeling very good about themselves in making the Best Deli Sandwich ever offered to Mankind. I could not wait for this sandwich to hit my table, and most of all… bite into what I consider the BEST of all Deli Sandwiches. If Padow’s makes the Sailor Sandwich, than as far as I am concerned… everything else is a «Piece of Cake». When the sandwich came out, I could see lots of Pastrami, Swiss Cheese and Knockwursts on Rye. I always have them bring me extra YELLOW mustard for this Sandwich as I feel the Yellow Mustard adds to the Compliment of the many wonderful Flavors in which this sandwich has to offer… Padow’s did an excellent job on the Sailor and I would not hesitate to order this AGAIN. I would just like to have seen a little more Pastrami on the sandwich. The only drawback I have with Padow’s is this… When I ordered The Sailor, the Gentleman who was taking my order did not tell me about the Combos they have with each sandwich. If I had ordered the Combo, I would have ordered it with a side and drink. A better price than the sandwich alone with just the drink… This was my first time in there, and this is where I feel many places fall down on when they take an order… They all assume you have been there before, and they take the attitude, in Why do I need to ask… WRONG! I plan to go back, as I saw other items on the Menu as well. They have a Fresh Salad bar which looks really good and worth trying. Next time, however. So, if you get a chance, check out Padow’s Ham & Deli. They have been around Richmond for a long time, and they certainly are a Great Deli Restaurant to eat at…
