well I went to the salon made appointment at last minutes which is my fault since I was in the area thought I give it a try. went in great customer service love the theme all pink. I ask for color was turned said my color too hard well that suck so I ended up with just a cut with Britney it was alright …

I survived my first Brazilian wax! The venue was appealing and the service was fantastic. They were very accommodating and provided beverages while you wait. The wait time wasn’t long at all and the wax time was quick! I fully recommend this salon and would gladly return. Thanks Hannah!

Today was my fourth or fifth appointment with Chancellar at Bombshell. He is the best; talented, creative, caring and professional. I have an up to date haircut and great custom created color with low lights. I am very pleased.

I’m really sad to write this review. I’ve been going to Bombshell in the west end for a while now and in February of ’14 I had a wonderful experience with Stephanie where she helped me lighten up my 5 years of hot pink hair to a lovely healthy platinum pastel. It was an A+ experience and I was thrilled to have finally found a salon I could go to when my home hair care didn’t quite get the results I wanted. I had a lovely platinum blonde up top which ombred down to a pale pastel pink– I loved it!
My hair lasted about 6 months before I needed to return to help get my regrowth to a platinum blonde to match the rest of my length. I’d been bleaching my roots gently at home and just needed them to go the extra mile, which I thought would be easy for a salon with their superior bleaches and know-​how. Due to a change in their system Bombshell didn’t have a history of who I had went to in February and so scheduled me with Brittany.
The experience with Brittany was awful. She bleached my roots out to a hot white and left my regrowth for last, so that I had a band of lemon yellow across my head between the hot roots and the platinum length. Quickly, she applied a second round of bleach to my hair but by that point the literal damage was done. I didn’t know how a professional could even make this mistake, let alone fry my hair like she did. I went home panicked and called the next day to make an appointment with Stephenie, my original stylist, for two weeks later to try to get my hair fixed.
Stephenie did help when I returned, and I was thankful for the concern she showed me. Thinking the problem laid with the stylist who wasn’t familiar with my hair, another 6 months pass and I am ready to return for help with my regrowth again and make my third appointment with Stephanie.
Unfortunately, the same thing happened again. After my pointing out that I was there *not* for my roots but to have my regrowth match the shade of blonde that was my length, Stephenie proceeded to use a powerful bleach against my scalp, and used a less powerful bleach on my regrowth, resulting in the same band of yellow throughout my hair.
At this point I was really disappointed. I knew the color was fixable and that if the toner she suggested didn’t work I could return in a couple weeks time to have the yellow band re-​bleached out just like last time. She was going to make notes on my account for next time so she knew to flip the power of the bleaches. So I was OK when she sat me back down in the shampoo chair to try the toner out first.
Uhg, the rest was a nightmare. The girl shampooing my hair suggested using a special new hair conditioner that was for pink hair. I was OK with her using the conditioner on me but I let her know, from experience, that my hair would suck up any pigment like nothing else. I’ll cut it down to say that just as I warned, my hair sucked up that pigment, and because the conditioner wasn’t evenly distributed, my hair turned out a motley mix of weird shades of pink and the only solution was for me to go back to the sink and basically receive a whole dye job using the stuff.
I am now back to a hot pink that a year ago which I paid a lot of money to lighten, with the yellow tint showing through the hair conditioner dye job, and a large $ 130 bill which when I look up their cost for an all-​over bleach is over even the suggested maximum of what it might cost me, maybe to account for the extra few hours I was there.
Sadly, I will not be returning to Bombshell under normal circumstances. I have nothing against Stephanie as she is super sweet and I’m sure would have bent over backwards to make me happy, and I was seriously thrilled with my original bleach-​out; and I know the girl shampooing my hair was just excited to show me a product and had no idea it would do what it did to my hair– but after two highly stressful visits and a lot of money I can not in good conscious recommend them :(

After both reading and hearing excellent reviews, I was thoroughly disappointed by my experience at Bombshell. I have medium-​length extremely curly hair and left with a haircut and style that made me immediately go home to wash and tie up my hair. Moreover, i had gone for the «apprentice» cut but the guy cutting my hair kept talking about how lucky I am to have him since he was actually so experienced and «should» be a master. He also ignored me and kept talking to the stylist and customer next to me. He seemed bummed to see my curly hair and tried to skip the shampoo and condition that comes with the cut. This guy also took sooooo painfully long, i wanted to stop half way through — and i wish i had because my hair looked so terrible that my family and friends found it hard to even pretend that it looked ok.
It gets worse — After his debauchery, This dude has the audacity to charge me double the price I was originally quoted and just said I had been «misinformed» and «my hair took so long» …by my hair, he must have meant his incompetence (wow, I gave myself months to mellow out before writing the review but its upsetting me all over again!). Anyways, feeling guilty (at that time) that it took this clueless stylist so long to cut and straighten my hair, I dished it out and also left a generous tip — a tip which would have better been used to buy a nice bottle of shampoo to wash out the pancake hairstyle. If this guy still works there (he has a long, unusual name which I forget)… Gather your precious hair and run!
The positive two stars are for the salon, location, and other stylists who seemed pretty decent.

I tell all my girlfriends «go see Nicole at bombshell». I am a chicken. I finally got the nerve to get my first Brazilian wax this summer and I made my appointment here with Nicole. Let me tell you, ITS NOT AS BAD AS YOU THINK! I was a believer from my first wax and I’ve been waxing from that day on. I highly recommend Nicole. She is so thorough in her work, you leave completely hair free and she is fast and skilled! I got a wax from another waxer there but I prefer Nicole to her. When Nicole waxes she is there with you in the trenches, helping you breath and get through the wax without more pain than necessary. Really though, it’s a breeze. For those on the fence, just go do it, make your appointment with Nicole and she will take care of you I promise! Trust me, I’m the biggest chicken! But Nicole took away all my fears, she is such a sweetie and she will help you get through your first one. I was even laughing during my first one while we were gossiping and talking during my wax. So just do it! What do you have to lose but razor burn?!

After having a not so pleasant customer experience, the owner of bombshell called me to apologize on the receptionist’s behalf. This meant a lot because it showed that the owner genuinely cares about all their customers! The hairstylists are great and so are their products. I just didn’t have a great customer experience with regards to how the receptionist handled one of the miscommunications. But the fact that the owner read my review, called me and apologized absolutely erased all the previous bitter feelings! I definitely plan on coming back here!

After reading reviews of Bombshell, and particularly the Short Pump location (plus: it’s closer to me), I decided to go to get my first Brazilian wax there. I have now had my first and second wax done there by Theresa and I have so many positive things to say!
First I want to stress that for me, the waxing is not NEARLY as painful as I had predicted it would be. Granted, I do have a high pain tolerance compared to everyone I know. Still, after two visits I don’t see the appointments as a big deal AT ALL. To me, yeah it hurts for a second, but it’s no big deal at all. If you have ever gotten a piercing or a tattoo then I really think you’ll be fine. I was nervous for my first wax, but that was because I just didn’t know what to expect. After the first wax (ever) I knew that I could do this for the rest of my life. I don’t dread these appointments, in fact I look forward to them now. For me, on a pain scale of 1 – 10 I would give the first wax a 6 and my second wax a 4. Seriously… it’s not as bad as most girls make it out to be. It’s probably all in their head.
The staff is friendly, open, and kind, but they’re also discrete and don’t make anything embarrassing at all. I appreciated this A LOT on my first visit since I was nervous just not knowing what to expect. I honestly didn’t think I would be nervous. I generally have a high pain tolerance, and I’m not shameful about getting naked in front of anyone who is considered a professional. However, I was nervous, and I think almost all people would be for at least the first one! But it’s okay to be nervous!
Theresa is great at explaining everything she is about to do. She’s great at telling you when to take deep breaths in or out to help you with any pain. She works incredibly fast. Both times I’ve gone I’ve been shocked at how quickly she can work and talk at the same time. She does like to talk to me during my appointments, similar to what a hair stylist would do to sort of fill the silence. I can also tell that if you didn’t want to talk with her, she’d be fine with it. She’s so flexible.
Theresa also has MANY years of experience. If I remember correctly, I think she said she’s been doing this for at least 10 – 15 years and before she was a bikini waxer she worked with a dermatologist.
Bombshell is super clean. They absolutely do not double dip the sticks into the wax, they wear gloves, and the floors are so clean you could eat off of them. Even though I’ve only been doing my Brazilian waxes there, they offer a whole lot of services and I will definitely be checking them out in the near future. I completely trust Bombshell!

Best place ever, well worth the drive! Everyone is super friendly, décor is nice; the service is great, and quick in and out in under 2 hours. Sonya is the best at short haircuts for African-​American woman, trust me, you will not be disappointed.

I lived in Richmond for 10 months and they were long, boring and drawn out months ! However when I would come in every two weeks for my shellac mani here it was something to look forward to. It’s been over a year so I do not remember the girls name that did my nails but she truly did an amazing job every time. When I was going they only had about 6 colors to choose from but she always made my nails look really nice and I enjoyed going here like I looked forward to my appointments. I highly recommend Bombshell to all!

I went to bombshell Thursday ⁹⁄₂₅ and I had Kimberly. I was scheduled to have a different waxing tech but I met with Kimberly over the summer that told me to schedule my booking with her for a sugaring service so the owner made sure that I had Kimberly instead of the other associate.
Kimberly is very sweet, with a fun personality and she is extremely knowledgeable.
My waxing was practically pain free! I chose to wait days later for my review just to see how the sugaring wax helped as far as hair bumps because I had a bad experience with hair bumps before from waxing. So far no hair bumps and I’m sure the sugar waxing has alot to do with that along with Finipil. I am so thankful! Smooth kitty is happy too :) thanks bombshell

A friend recommended Bombshell about a year ago and now I’ve been recommending Bombshell to all of my girlfriends as well! If you’re going in for your first visit (Brazilian) make sure you book your appointment with Gina! She’s the absolute best!

Just left Bombshell with a fabulous new haircut, thanks to Tiffany. My hair was ruined by a nearby salon during a hideous color mishap and coloring over that to fix it. Tiffany gave me a beautiful, stylish bob while getting rid of most of the damaged sections. I can’t believe it is the same hair! I’ll be back and will let Tiffany do her thing… she’s a rock star.

I do not hesitate to give Bombshell 5 stars. I would give them 10 if I could. I have found my new home for eyebrow waxes. I did feel like I was cheating on my other eyebrow place (oops!), but oh well! Apparently the owner’s birthday was today so to celebrate they were offering free eyebrow waxes. I just so happened to have booked an appointment next week to try Bombshell out, but since this opportunity popped up I said «Don’t mind if I do!» When I walked in I knew that it was my kind of place. I was all about the bright pink and throwback pinup décor. Caroline was so knowledgeable and she took her sweet time and I was perfectly fine with that. I mentioned to her that I wasn’t happy with how my eyebrows turned out the last time I got them done. She made sure that I knew what she was doing every step of the way and showed me how she was going to fix the last person’s mistake. Love love love! I mentioned that my birthday was the next day and she escorted me to the candy machine where I got a delicious chocolate bar! And to top it all off, inside of the chocolate bar wrapper is a $ 5 off coupon for my next service! Score!
Last but certainly not least, I always break out after an eyebrow wax. My skin is just that sensitive. Even «sensitive» wax breaks me out. Ladies and gentlemen, It has been just about 12 hours and I have no signs of a break out. Whatever that wax is made of is probably as precious as gold. For this reason alone, I will never go anywhere else. Thank you for existing, Bombshell.

Ive only been here for brazilian waxes. I usually go see Amanda, she is so nice and the whol process is easy and painless with her. Unfortunatlely last time I went Amanda was unavailable and I got another girl whose name I dont remember. The experience with her wasnt as great as Amanda but it wasnt as bad as another place I went to. Bottom line this prob is the best place in rva for a wax of your personal area

I am writing this review for hairstylist Natalie… She is a stylist with a bubbly disposition who is a delight to work with. Her creative vision is truly artistic and the entire process from concept to final product is rendered with the confidence that comes from true talent.

I made the switch to the Bombshell in West Broad Village to follow my girl Natalia. She is running things over there now and the salon is absolutely awesome. It is fun and friendly and everyone that works there seems to really love their job and enjoy being at work — it is impossible to be in a bad mood in this place. The pink walls and checkerboard floors are super fun and they always have great music playing when I am in there.
I usually go here for a trim every few months but last year I went in for my wedding hair and makeup. Natalia did an amazing job on my hair and Summer did my makeup. When I went in for the trial run I was so impressed with how everything looked — it was one less thing I had to worry about for the big day. On the day of the wedding I was so relaxed and Natalia had me cracking up as usual — it was just a great part of the day.
Short Pump isn’t the easiest place for me to get to but this little corner of it is fun and I can’t imagine getting my hair cut anywhere else in Richmond. Just go!

I relocated to Richmond two months ago and was scared to death to look for someplace I can trust to get my hair done. I tested the hair Gods and went to Bombshell. I am so happy that this was the place I decided to go!
Tiffany did a wonderful job on my highlights and haircut! She took care and was sensitive to my situation. She was also wonderful socially; she gave me great tips on restaurants and area hot spots!
I also had my brows waxed with Audrey. That too was a fantastic experience! The wax smelled like chocolate (which is always a calming thing!) and was very effective. Audrey was very skilled and did her job with ease; I was comfortable for both the waxing and plucking. She was also very social!
On a side note, I loved the pink décor and 1950’s feel in the music and Mad Men on the salon television. Very classy!
I WILL be returning and I do recommend this salon to anyone and everyone!

I was nervous, going in for my first-​ever brazilian today. The receptionist was bubbly, and offered me a beverage, and all the staff were smiling and laughing. They all seem to really like working together! Amanda introduced herself warmly, and spent a few minutes consulting with me to make sure we achieved exactly the look I wanted for both my eyebrows and nether regions. She made me feel totally at ease, even though I was super-​nervous. I am not modest, but this bikini wax thing is pretty intimate! By distracting me with a steady stream of conversation, I both got to know her a little, and was almost entirely distracted from the work she was doing (which was not nearly as painful as I had feared). Oh, and the wax smelled vaguely like candy? Not bad. Not bad at all.
Sometimes, walking into a new salon can be intimidating. People size you up, you don’t know what the dynamic will be like … or whether they’ll communicate with you openly enough that you get exactly what you want. But my experience at Bombshell was great! Not only did they accommodate my need for an immediate appointment, but they made my excursion into vanity a real treat! I will definitely be headed back to see Amanda again soon. (Nevermind the fact that I live and work in Church Hill. It’s worth it!)
