I been banking with union bank over 14 years but in all that time I never experienced this much lack of customer service & unprofessional staff
I needed to make a simple deposit, after waiting in line for over 20 minutes & only one teller working, she told me that they have to put a hold on a $ 867.00 check .
I never heard a bank putting a hold on a check for that low of amount .
I asked for a manager buy unfortunately the manager was busy laughing with two other tellers in her office & she wasn’t available. I finally walked out & drove to another location & to my suprised they other union bank branch didn’t even put a hold on it
I did call the customer service relations to make a complain about the staff & lack of customer service they provided
I will never go back to this union bank branch no matter what

while the people at the branch are wonderful, the bank is horrific. Ever since they bought out my last bank SBBT, has been nothing but downhill. Now they email that they are cancelling mailed statements, and when you call, get a very rude person who says they will charge $ 5 to get it mailed again, and if you don’t like it, close your account. Very poor excuse for a bank. Even Wells Fargo is better.

Long/​overdue review–
Ever since they bought Santa Barbara Bank and Trust and moved to First and Santa Teresa it seems like not only did the employees change but the moral of customer service. Worst I’ve experienced by far. Luckily I use them as a secondary. I refuse to walk into that branch. If I do need to, I’ll take that drive to San Jose and use the Stevens Creek location.

Very nice people but oh my GOD is it slow. So many clerks but soooooooo long sometimes. Open a strictly deposit no cash back no questions no wait teller line n I’ll be happy…

Union Bank has a branch in Morgan Hill that they bought last year. Since the takeover, I’ve had nothing but problems. They changed my routing number, and while it was buried in all of the disclosures and fee schedules that they sent me, the note was not clear that it applied to me. I’ve had several on-​line payments bounce because of this and spent way too much time on the phone fixing that problem. I can’t wait for them to start bouncing my old checks!!!
I tried to log in today and made a mistake on my password twice. (too many passwords-​itis) They locked my account!!!
I dont have a debit card, so I had to call. After about 5 «Press 1 for… «menus I hung up and tried again. Then I got told the wait was more than 15 minutes (no surprise given the way I’ve been treated, so far) so I opted for a call back.
They called back, with no caller ID so I missed the call. The call is computer generated so it sounds just like a marketing call and with no caller ID it is easy to screen by mistake. Second time, I answered and waited thru yet another «Press 1…» menu.
One of the security questions was what was the amount of the last deposit. How do I know? It was electronic and I can’t access my account!!!
The customer service rep did her thing and I tried my password and it didn’t work.
When I tried «forgot password», they wanted a debit card, again. No debit card, then CALL!!! How frustrating! Since I already had customer service on the phone, they told me that they would send me an access card with a PIN, by SNAIL MAIL — 3 to 5 business days. So good guy, paperless me, has no access to my account, can’t pay my bills electronically for a week !!!
By the way, the customer service lady sounded like she was in a daze. Probably from having to deal with so many angry customers.
I’ve had it. I’m going to start arranging things so I can close my account of 26 years.
This is a BAD BANK! I wish I could give it ZERO stars.
Update 9÷23÷13 — after waiting 2 weeks for the card with the «magic number» for my account, I gave up and closed my account.

Ok, this is insult added to injury! The teller made a mistake when she wrote the close out check and I got a NOT SUFFICIENT FUNDS letter for $.02!!! Plus, Union Bank sent me an email telling me that my latest statement was now available online, after I closed the account because I couldn’t get on line access!!!
Dilbert never had it this bad. I just can’t believe the stupidity and I’m still having problems with on line payments, even, after correcting the routing number.
Update 10÷13÷13
It just never ends. My Sprint phone went dead this weekend. When I finally got thru to someone in Customer Service and spent a while trying to find out what happened, I was told that Union Bank initiated a payment on ¹⁰⁄₃ using my closed account number. It bounced, of course, and the phone goes dead!!! My Sprint account is only paid via auto pay to a credit card. The bank account was listed but only as a bank up and had not been used for years, if at all.
A payment wasn’t due for weeks, I am the only one with on line access, I was shut out because I couldn’t remember my password, and I knew the account was CLOSED so why would I ever initiate a payment??. There is a three letter acronym for an expression of disbelief that applies here.
The bank account is off my Sprint account so that link is broken, hopefully and there is probably another trip to the bank branch in my future. I simply cannot believe that all of this is happening. It’s like a mini-​version of the movie «Enemy of the State.»

If there was a rating of zero stars then that would be my rating. I took over the job of another person that decided to bank here. I will be switching over to another bank ASAP. Today I was charged (yes charged) to make a deposit. Apparently I deposited TOO MUCH cash and they charged me a $ 5.00 fee! Are you freekin kidding me! Anyhow, I have never once been greeted when entering the branch and am always made to feel like I am a huge inconvenience to them. Andres Builes is a teller there and he is soooooooo slow at counting the deposits I bring in. When I asked him if he could go a bit faster he replied «no I can’t, you need to understand this is money we are dealing with» I said «well can’t you straighten the bills and make them face the same way AFTER I leave?» He said no. I told him my personal bank could do the transaction twice as fast and he actually said «goody, goody for them». Anyhow, I went to their drive up once with 2 deposits and I was told that I can only go to the drive up if I have a single transaction. Ya, like there’s a long line of waiting cars… not! No one is EVER there. The other day the branch MANAGER and her assistant were having a conversation right in front of me about how they need to concentrate on the high money generating customers like overdrawn customers and really hit them with NSF and overdraft fees. Them they laughed at people who do their banking at the grocery store. I hate this bank and will be closing my business account as soon as I can.

Don’t know why they only open 9 – 5 M-​TH, doesn’t make sense when one gets off at 5pm and can’t make it to the bank on time! Other Union Banks I know open till 6pm. Gilroy needs to change their hours! Other than that they have good customer service.

It’s Union Bank in the little town of Gilroy. I went inside to take out some quick cash because the ATM outside was out of service. When I walked in, I was greeted by staff behind the counter with a big good morning. I was assisted by a very nice young lady who was polite and courteous.
I did not mind going inside for some good customer service. I’m sure next time I visit, the ATM outside will be A-​OK.
