Jumnah Thanapathy, MD

Dr. Thanapathy is a great dr. She has guided me very well during my pregnancy. She is very experienced and knows what she is doing. And her credentials are top-​notch. I had to do C-​section for my blood complication. She did my surgery very nicely and her team in St. Louise hospital was extremely competent. She never had a doubt what she was doing and she always made the right moves which was important for us given the complications. Overall I had a very satisfying experience with her.

Dr. Thanapathy is a no nonsense doctor. She is straight to the point. Appointments are quick as they should be. She does however take the time to answer any questions you may have. Have had two babies delivered by this wonderful doctor. Love her and trust her with my medical needs. Thanapathy is the best!

The absolute worse doctor DO NOT GO TO HER! she is rude unwelcoming and you will wait about an 1 hr ½ wait to be seen! Not to mention she is not helpful at all. So glad i switched doctors! To top it off she told me the sex of my baby when i wanted it to be a surprise and did not show an oz. of remorse or even apologize she simply blamed it on me for wanting it to be surprise! Pls read all of the comments of 2015 and up bc they are all VERY true! She will be nice the first visit and after that shes a complete bitch! DO NOT SETTLE FOR HER SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE IS FEMALE that is what i did and honestly you are better off with a male Dr. or driving an extra 15 min to a different female Dr.
SHE IS A HORRIBLE PERSON

If I could give negative stars I would. I read the reviews and thought she cannot be as bad as everyone is saying. She is worse. I waited an hour for my first appointment and when asked when I would be seen the front desk staff looked at me like I was crazy. No apologies. They book too many people in the same slot. When you go to the bathroom they leave the urine samples from everyone else that day on display. The dr’s bedside manner is terrible!!! She yelled at me. She demanded I make a follow up appointment. I told her my phone died and I would call to reschedule and she yelled saying that is unacceptable. I explained that I just needed to check my schedule first and call back. She followed me to the waiting room telling the secretary no one is to leave without making a appointment. I asked what her concern was with me calling when I had my schedule in front of me. She said people forget many times. This is a baby! I assured her I would not forget! But she would not take no for an answer. She is not available much of the time and mumbles in the exam then yells at you when you try to confirm what she is saying. Truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had.

DO NOT GO TO HER!!! She starts off nice and is very rude! She delivered my son, even though she knew he was too large to come naturally. My mother in law even called and told her to do a C section. Thanspathy tells her: «I’m the doctor here, not you» she pulled him so hard, he had nerve damage, shoulder distoccia, herbst palsy. And has been in therapy for 8 years ever since he was born. Cause him to be left handed, because he couldn’t use his right arm for the first year of life. I wish I could sue her! She is a terrible person.

Dr. Thanapathy is always very knowledgable, professional, reassuring. I and several family members have been seeing her for years and I recommend her highly. Great doctor and staff!

I feel really strange giving my gyno a 5 star rating. There was no woohoo! involved except for the fact that it was over quickly and neutrally. However, the reality is she’s good at what she does. She’s quick yet thorough. She’s informative yet doesn’t push any agendas. Her office is always clean, neat and comfortable. I have seen her for many years. She delivered both my babies who were not petite things. I know one patient complained of the unorthodox positioning during delivery, but both my girls were born with heads in the 90^th and 100^th percentiles and I walked away with no tearing. I had Dr. Thanapathy to thank for that. Gravity would not have been a friend to me.

I have always been very happy with Dr. Thanapathy. She is a very good and honest doctor. Don’t expect to be comforted with kind words if you need to shape up. She tells it how it is. I’ve been seeing her for 15 years or so and she keeps me on my toes with my health and weight. Most recently she delivered my daughter, who was 9+ pounds. I thought I’d end up with a c-​section after many hours of pushing but she coached me through the final delivery when I’m sure most Dr’s would have given up on me. I trust her 100%

Short and to the point, not recommended, after multiple chances to give this doctor a fighting chance, they keep proving negative. Only gave me two months RX on birth control after jumping through all the hoops for the annual exam, then wanted $ 10 just to provide me a copy of my pap smear results. And to top it off a man is running the office which lends to an uncomfortable atmosphere. If you like country doctors this is for you, if you need a professional doctor then I would plan on driving to Stanford or PAMF in Palo Alto, it would be worth it!

This was the worst doctors experience that I have ever had. The office is so unprofessional, dirty ans violates all HIPPA laws. The doctor talks to and about patients in the middle of the waiting room. I watched the doctor go from one room to another without washing hands. They asked for a urine sample and handed me a paper Dixie cup with the front office employee sticking his finger in the cup. I watched a patient leave and the office staff rip the paper off the bed and put a new patient in the same room without taking any of the instruments out to clean. This place is a hazard to your health.

Dr Thanapathy was highly recommended to me by several people, I was not disappointed. I went to see her because of several issues I had been ignoring for years. But after ultrasounds and biopsy, it was inevitable that I’d need surgery. She didn’t sweet talk, she explained the pros and cons very clearly. I was terrified of surgery that’s what kept me away from seeing Ob/​Gyn. She was very detailed, and knowledgeable. She gave me time I asked for to weigh in the pros and cons. I decided to go ahead with surgery.
I’m not fond of hospitals or surgery, but the care I received was outstanding. The best part of surgery, I’ve had absolutely NO PAIN! I give her 5 stars but it just doesn’t seem like enough to show my gratitude.
The office is very clean, organized and well managed. Even on a busy day there is not a long wait and she takes the time to listen and answer my questions no matter how trivial the question may be.
She is the 4^th Ob/​Gyn that I’ve had experience with, and she is the BEST!

I went here for a routine exam and Dr. Thanapathy was gentle, courteous, and informative. She listened to any concerns I had and was very respectful. She is up to date on current advances in this field which is comforting to know. The environment is clean, simple, and tidy. No complaints here!
Also as as one Unilocaler pointed out: there is a cabinet of curios that include troll dolls, but it has a bunch of other neat knickknacks too.

One of the worst doctors I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
Obnoxious, rude, arrogant person. Very fast and horribly painful pelvic exam — I was in pain and bled for many days afterwards. This person was too busy to answer any of my questions. At the end of this «visit» — she wrote out three prescriptions for medications — without making a clear diagnosis of what my problem was.
Needless to say, I never went back there and my advice to you is to steer clear of this
«doctor».
The only reason I gave her one star is that they have no lower rating to click on.

Gets the job done nice and fast. I don’t know what some people really expect. I don’t know about you but I’d rather my check up appointments be short and sweet, and that’s exactly what it is. Dr. Thanapathy made me feel comfortable and she was on time and quick. She’s very nice, and makes comfortable conversation. I don’t see why I wouldn’t recommend their office to someone… The gyno is never a spectacular experience to me and that’s why I would give it 3 stars… I would never give any gyno 4 or 5… just not my cup of tea.

Unclean, cluttered waiting room and patient rooms. Greeted with a curio cabinet of Troll dolls staring at you! Patient room full of oxygen tanks in the corner, mess and doors open to reception area. Poor communicating doctor. Feels like a third world kind of operation. Don’t bother with this place for sure!

Dr. Thanapathy delivered my last two children. I moved when I was pregnant with my 3^rd daughter, and Dr. Thanapathy was the only woman OB in the area, so I chose her by default. I appreciated how I hardly ever had to wait and she was competent. When I delivered my daughter, I got to the hospital already ready to push, so I had to actually wait until the Dr. got there to deliver. Consequently, it only took one push to get her out. The Dr. was there 30 minutes, max.
SO, when I got pregnant with my fourth child, I went back to Dr. Thanapathy. Pregnancy went along fine, although I feel like Dr. Thanapathy is a bit old fashioned and doesn’t always do things on the same timetable as other doctors. When it came time for the delivery, what a nightmare. This was my 4^th natural delivery, so I’m pretty sure I knew what I was doing by then… it was Dr. T’s very unusual was of delivering that was the problem.
First, since my daughter was overdue, the dr. decided to break my water to get things going. That was fine, except for the fact that she sent me to the hospital saying she would be over shortly to pop the water but didn’t come over for almost 3 hours. Then, once the water broke things went pretty quickly. I asked if I could push on my side since my my first two children had battered my tailbone on their way out and my 3^rd one didn’t (since they had me on my side pushing while we waited for Dr. T). «No,» Dr. T said, «My way is better.» Okay. So, when it came time to push she starts giving me various orders… Basically I was laying back with no support behind me (flat on my back) and whenever I had to push I would have to pull my own legs in and lift myself up, like a sit up. She kept ordering me to do various, confusing things — head back, knees up, this, that. Nothing was intuitive at all. What is more — it was exhausting. Luckily, I pushed for less than 20 minutes. If you were a woman who had to push for an hour, you wouldn’t be able to do it. By the time I was through my whole body was sore — including my tailbone, which you could actually hear crack as my little one pushed it out of the way. With my other children, I pushed the same length of time but my whole body wasn’t sore and I wasn’t so exhausted. Dr. T claims that her way minimizes tearing, but it also doesn’t use gravity at all.
Given the choice, I would definitely not go back to her. If you want any say in your delivery, choose another doctor. (One more thing, even the nurses at the hospital are fearful of her — they scurry around — «Dr. T likes it just so, she is going to be upset if it isn’t…»)
To top it off, at my six week check up she pointed out that I was still 10 pounds over what I had weighed when I visited her when I was 10 weeks pregnant. Why?
PROS: On time, experienced, peaceful office
CONS: Bedside manner is somewhat rude, old fashioned, not willing to let you control your own delivery, very confusing delivery method

This doctor is AMAZING! Not only did she provide the most amazing care for my two pregnancies and the births of my two little boys (which ended up being high risk and she handled things beautifully) — we now have a healthy and happy family today because of her I mean it because of her and the precautions and care she took —
BUT in all selfishness now she is also taking the most incredible care of my skin currently with her new spa treatments. Ladies, this doctor really is just a wonderful person and an amazing professional — she brings you in and you just feel like you are going to be taken care of from head to toe. She is great and always pushes herself towards excellence in all that she does. I highly recommend her! My skin looks great and I am getting compliments all the time. and no its not painful, not invasive, and its not Botox, you’ll just have to go see her to find out how she works these miracles that erase the stress lines and wrinkles that the lack of sleep, our stressful jobs and lets not forget… that these little bundles of heaven create! Go see her!
