Specialties

Fast, fresh, & delicious, Erik’s DeliCafé offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, and wraps for a healthy and friendly dining experience.

Our sandwiches are always made with high quality meats, cheeses and produce. All of our slow-simmered soups, fresh salads and bakery goods are made from scratch using my family’s recipes and only the freshest ingredients.

Erik’s Catering provides the same excellent food and service for meetings, family gatherings, weddings, and more.

Here’s to your health!

Erik Johnson

History

Established in 1993.

After receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in Business and Marketing from the University of Oregon, Erik Johnson, a Bay Area native, relocated to Santa Cruz and ventured into real estate. Realizing he was not suited to be a realtor, Johnson began to have ambitions of opening his own business.

In September of 1973, after making unsuccessful bids on a health food store, ice cream shop, and doughnut shop, Johnson purchased a 600 square foot location in Scotts Valley for $ 429. He also enlisted the help of his family for this new venture. Ray, Erik’s father, created homemade soups while his mother, Dolores, and sister, Laurel, made deli salads and baked goods. Judy, Johnson’s wife-to-be, worked behind the counter.

Erik’s DeliCafé soon became increasingly popular, expanding first in the Santa Cruz area, then eventually throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Today, many customers are able to enjoy Erik’s unique and delicious food and friendly service throughout Northern California.
