Dank Pet Sitting and More

We recently boarded our two 7-​pound toy poodles with Dank Pet Sitting. We left the dogs there for a month while our floors were being redone, but visited them several times. Not only did the dogs have a wonderful time, living in the house and receiving Doug and Kitty’s loving attention, but we very much enjoyed visiting them. After this experience, we wouldn’t consider boarding the dogs anywhere but at Dank Pet Sitting, where the treatment is, without a doubt, as good as it gets.

I felt compelled to write an update after a month to try and cool off. I stand by my review and the events of the day. I took her to another home boarding facility and the owner is also a trainer, she told me that Pepsi was well behaved and was a pleasure to have in her home. No scratching at doors or jumping (except upon my return), no issues… she is welcome back anytime! She also confirmed that most dogs have some kind of apprehension especially when left somewhere for the first time. Also confirmed jumping is standard when the owner returns. I feel that speaks for itself.
Also, I think it was unprofessional to post the emails between the 2 of us, however it just proved his lack of communication with me after how upset I was. A mindful business owner would have apologized with a phone call that night (even if he felt strongly that he was in the right, the customer is always right… he didn’t even try to «fake» any concern!) And… I don’t own a retractable leash. She was on her normal 4 ft leash when I picked her up and she was about 4+ feet from the curb and in no danger of traffic… yet she was pulled up in the air with force. From the moment I dropped her off, it was clear that I was nervous and needed reassurance and kindness. Nothing should have been said to me in «jest». The other woman who cared for Pepsi for 8 days showed me the kindness and care that I was searching for, text message updates and photos. She’s obviously had more experience with dogs and people than DanK. I wish them the best of luck in the future and hope there was a lesson learned from this situation.

Doug and Kit are awesome! They took care of our horse and dogs while we were gone on an extended weekend. Did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them. We will be using them again.

Doug and Kit were more than great. They went the extra mile to take care of our kitties, garden, and lawn while we were on vacation. I am never comfortable trusting my home to strangers when I’m away, but they were awesome. They texted with photos and remarks at each visit, assuring us the kitties were okay! I will use them forever!

I have been taking my cat here for the past two years and he loves it. After years of searching for a decent place to board my cat I was amazed to discover that this is a CAGE FREE boarding establishment. As soon as I read about this place here on Unilocal and saw photos of their lovely, clean home I called them immediately. The owners Doug and Kit are amazing. While your pet is there they periodically send photos and texts letting you know how they are doing. No matter how busy they are if you text they will respond. I don’t know how they do it but they keep all the pets equally happy during their stay. I highly recommend this place! As an added bonus their prices are reasonable as well! Thank you Doug & Kit!

I was very pleased with Doug and Kitty when it came to looking after my little Frenchton, Luna! Doug was thoughtful enough during the middle of my five day business trip to send me a e-​mail letting me know that things were just fine with Luna’s boarding visit. I will definitely use their services moving forward.

The rating says it all … As Good As It Gets!
We booked them about a month in advance of our trip back East, both Doug and Kitt showed up for the initial home visit to get to know our two pugs: D … they are bonded and insured, a must for letting someone into your home!
Then about a week before our trip Doug came back for a follow-​up to make sure he knew our dogs habits and where everything is in our house — kudos!
During our trip he sent both my wife and I pictures of our two pugs everyday, taking them on a walk to the local dog park, a break during the day and another long break at night.
If you can … book them now! They are a great pair and really connect with your pets … our dogs were safe and at home with no travel stress. What really impressed me was when we walked in the door from the airport, the dogs did not seem like they had been locked up forever …
They are the best with very reasonable rates … we will be using them again during our time in Morgan Hill!

Doug and Kitty are awesome! We’ve left our 4-​legged family member with them many times, including a time where we needed an extended stay.
Their definition of customer service is what we needed when we were in a jam. They are very caring, including the feeling that your pet will be treated like family. They keep you up to date and are very open to special requests.
We’ve used other pet boarding services in town, and DanK is BY FAR the best.
We no longer worry about leaving our pup with DanK Pet sitting!

I have a very difficult cat that I have never left alone with a sitter for the past 13 years! But this past weekend was a must so after a friend bailed in the last minute I had to find someone! That is where I came a cross DanK! Doug was so nice and luckily available for that weekend! He came over to meet us that same day, he was very professional, organized and even my cat wasn’t too stressed when she met him (this is a first!!)
During the time we were gone he made sure to let me know how my kitty is doing as well as updating me with some pictures.
When we came back, my cat seemed very calm and didn’t seem to be missing us too much. :) there was a print out and some cookies waiting for us on the table! Such a sweet touch!
Thank you so much for such a great first experience! Now I can feel at ease if we ever want to take a family vacation without leaving anyone behind! (Except the kitty.)

Would give 10 STARS if we could!!! We are absolutely blown away at the level of customer service Doug & Kit provided for our babies while we went on a cruise for 10 days on our honeymoon. We have NEVER left our 2 cats & 2 dogs before for any trip. They came to our home several times and called to make sure they were clear on all of our details prior to our departure. Ok… Obsessive details. They texted us pictures of our animals to assure they were having fun. Fed them EXACTLY as requested. They also house sat for us. The house was immaculate upon our arrival. Mail was collected, Lights were on since we were coming in late & to top it off, they left us beautiful soup in the fridge! We will NOT be looking further for a house /​pet sitter. Thank you Unilocalers! All the 5 stars are spot on! We called Doug & Kitty with not only asking if they could take care of our Fox Terrier for the 1^st time. But also we needed help getting her to a wedding that she was part of … And then picking her up afterwords! They did not even blink a eye at this crazy doggie limo request! They said sure! We left their home that day knowing we had met the perfect Team. And when the day came they had her there on time and helped even getting her in her tux. and was right there for pick up… They also sent pics during the evening letting us know she was ok and in good hands ;) Normally we have family members help us pet sit. For sure though now our daughter has a new overnight home! Just can’t say enough here how happy we are that we found them! You will have no 2^nd thoughts when you leave your 4 legged family member here!

Doug and Kitty deserve the 5 stars for the great service and reasonable prices They had our 2 Boston Terriers for a week. They listened attentively for any special needs/​instructions, text daily pics and updates on how they were doing, and sent them home with a thoughtful card and home made confections for the owners. I would definitely trust my dogs with them again if I need future board and care.

This is the first time we used a professional pet sitter and I am so lucky we found DandK! DandK is very professional, reasonably priced, organized, experienced, flexible, and extremely reliable. DandK love animals and it shows through all the details they take in caring for our pets.
In the initial visit, DandK took detailed notes and asked a lot of great questions regarding our pet’s needs (meal times, administering medication, restroom breaks, etc). Doug did a wonderful job caring for our two large dogs at our home. We arranged for Doug to check-​in on our dogs several times each day. Doug sent us wonderful text messages on how our dogs were doing. It was very reassuring to know that our dogs were enjoying play time with Doug and that they were doing great while we were away. It was also comforting to know that if we were running late on our arrival home, Doug offered to visit and check on the doggies (even though we didn’t schedule an extra visit). Such a kind gesture!
When we arrived home from our trip, DandK Pet Sitting left a thoughtful card to welcome us home and a delicious homemade treat. We are so glad we found DandK Pet Sitters and have told all our family, friends, and neighbors about them. DandK Pet Sitting will be our go to sitters for our pets! This was my first time ever using a dog sitter and I was very nervous at first. After meeting Doug and Kitty, I was immediately put at ease. While I was away, I received daily updates and photos of my dog and even had a lovely note and goodies waiting for me when I got home. They are affordable, thoughtful, and will treat your pets with love. If I could give them 10 stars, I would!

We used Dank again when we went on our 2 week long vacation this year. They were great as usual to our 4 kitties. So nothing new there, we expected that since they have been there for us for almost 10 years. But this time our pipes decided to burst in the ceiling above the kitchen. Kit found the leak and immediatly sprang into action and dried the laminate flooring, turned to water off to the house (not an easy task since the faucet was stripped) and put a bucket under the leak, saving our floor. Without them it could have been so much worse! We were already on our way home otherwise she would have started the process with the insurance company and the plummer. Thank you again, Kit and Doug!

Doug and Kitty were absolutely incredible! We were visiting San Francisco with our 3 dogs and they were happy to take them in for a day and a half. Their pricing is very reasonable and they kept us updated with texts and pictures of our kids when we were away.
They have a nice home with a large yard for plenty of playing. Our dogs loved it there and Garu and the gang were even upset that we left their newly made friends so soon!
I would highly recommend
to anyone needing pet sitting. Our dogs felt at home there really fast and it sure beats the kennel and those so called dogie playgrounds. This is more of a home setting that made them feel comfortable fast. I am sure your pets will enjoy their hospitality and kindness.

We just had DanK take care of our pets while we went on vacation. They did a wonderful job! They really went above and beyond what was expected with our pets and home. They walked our dogs, gave our cats attention, and brought in the mail.
They communicated very well before and during the time we were gone. I appreciated their professionalism and that they asked a lot of questions to make sure things went well. I liked getting emails letting us know that all was ok. I definitely recommend them if you’re looking for the best animal sitters in the area!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about DanK Pet Sitting! We have two greyhounds and are very particular about who we trust them with given their unusual traits and needs — like having a very strong small prey drive and needing to avoid bloat to name just a couple. Doug and Kit paid meticulous attention to the information we shared with them and kept up our usual routine while we were gone for a long weekend. This included Doug spending the night at our house. The text messages and photos that Doug sent were so reassuring — I had no doubt my girls were receiving the best care possible. When we returned home the hounds were happy to see us, but there was no desperation attached, know what I mean? Another very telling sign that they were well-​loved in our absence. Like others have mentioned, in addition to coming home to our well cared for fur babies, there was a custom thank you card featuring pictures of our girls and very heartfelt thank you message, a bottle of wine, bread and cheese. This is a very thoughtful touch!
I highly recommend them to everyone. You will be more than delighted with their services! I know I will use them in the future.

This team is awesome is so many ways. The sitters are very friendly and warm people. They do not treat the animals as «just another business transaction.» They really establish a relationship with the pets. For example, every day that I was away, I got a text message with a photo and an short update of our cats. In the pre-​sitting interview, the team asked a lot of questions — you can really tell that these folks take the animals seriously and hold accountability to what they are doing.
This team also provided additional personal services while we were away. They helped to take care of our indoor plants and ensured that the outside fountain had water. Thy even took care of the mail. The litter box area was spotless — you can tell that they not only cleaned the litter box but they ensured that the area was clean.
When we got home, we got a thank you card and a bag of cookies on the kitchen counter. These nice personal touches really make a difference. Finally, when we got the key back, the owner asked for feedback. This is truly an A team and I am going to use them again this summer.
