Fulfilled their promise of offering us a basic site (we tented) close to the attractions, which for us were in or around Weirs Beach. The staff was kind, attentive and basically let us be. Checked in late, and that wasn’t a problem. The price was agreed to and paid for up front, no questions asked. I’ve given them four stars in the sense that they met my expectations well, not that they are a four star resort. They aren’t, but they are priced accordingly. Basic (small) sites, less privacy than some may require with basic facilities. We had a fairly large group, with multiple tents/​pop-​ups, and we were able to spread out and enjoy ourselves nicely. It seems their focus is primarily RVs, as there are many, but they were able to accommodate us. We knew folks who had stayed here in the past, and they saw improvement in the conditions. This was encouraging. Fun weekend for us! Thanks.

I would like to offer some candid feedback as part of the Edge of Woods campground Mgmt team–
Over the past 8 years we have had north of 600 families stay with us. Lots of very happy families and memorable experiences were created. However, we do have about 5 visitors over this 8 year period of time that have decided to ruin for others.
Despite the fact our business has made it very clear in bold lettering on our home page that we are nothing but a basic, clean, family type of campground.
They make it their priority to write nasty reviews and share false information. It is ironic that the biggest complainers are the ones that have spent a whopping total of $ 40.Maybe you all need to get a life!
On the flip side the customers that have spent $ 2 – 3,000 have NO complaints and are very pleased… Hmmm wakes you wonder
If the $ 40 is that precious to you and you need a top of the line facility with privacy you might want to go to Ocean I hear there are some facilities there… Please stay away from ours as we will never be able to meet your expectations… Or better yet why don’t you book a room at the Marriott? You might have to open your wallet a little more– I think the going rate is north of $ 250 per night… but you are worth it
Please don’t waste our time by responding to this if you are one of the 5… We have a business to run and we need to focus on the customers who do appreciate our services/​facilities.

My wife and I had very similar experience as the other reviewers. This is literally the owners back yard.
When we pulled in, there were no obvious signs pointing you to the office. We drove around and found a lawn sign in front of one of the trailers. No one was there to great us, so we waited in our car for about 20 minutes. The care taker finally show up, but was more focused on brining in his groceries than helping find a site.
I truly mean that we needed to find a site. When we had drove around the campground, we truly thought there were no tent sites. He walked us in behind a row of arborvitae where there was a long strip of open space. The ground had exposed stumps, leaf piles, and garbage. Between the arborvitae and the rock wall there was just enough space for us to set up our tent.
There is absolutely no privacy! The strip of open space was considered four separate tent sites. There was no space to do anything after you set your tent up. There was no picnic tables or place to sit and eat. There was one fire pit for the four sites. Even this was a metal pan style fire pit with the bottom falling out.
The bathrooms are a converted trailer with a single toilet and one shower. It was disgusting and clearly not cleaned often. There was not toilet paper provided either.
This was incredibly deceiving when we booked it. The owner seems like a nice enough guy, but is incredible hard to get a hold of. He does not return calls if you leave a voicemail, claiming that he doesn’t have enough time with the three jobs he works. We paid $ 40 a night. Definitely not worth the price.

I wanted to update to share that the owner refunded the whole trip and responded to my email with an apology, which helped make this experience a lot better!

Deeply disappointed. This is just some guy’s backyard. It’s poorly maintained, with broken glass and garbage everywhere. It’s right next to the airport and a highway, so it’s ridiculously loud. There’s no sense of privacy from the other campers (who were friendly, I admit). The bathroom facilities are pitiful and gross. Everything that is walking distance is along/​across the major highway with no sidewalks. And the «free beach pass» is to a beach (on the other side of the highway) that doesn’t charge to begin with. I feel really deceived about what the website offered me. I liked being able to walk to Meadowbrook, but walking that close to speeding cars made me wish I’d just driven anyway. There is really nothing woodsy about this place. We were told that there was a two night minimum to stay (at 40 bucks a night) and I’ve read that others have had some pretty creative fees charged as well. It is simultaneously the most I’ve spent on a campsite and the worst camping experience I’ve had. I never write reviews like this, and I’m pretty optimistic about rough exteriors, but I really would like to warn people away from this place.

We had a nice time there and everyone was welcoming and friendly. They really try to make sure you’re happy with your spot and hook-​ups and and will even go the extra mile to satisfy you. We had a nice semi wooded location and it was easy to pull in and out with our 5^th wheel. The only negative was the water pressure on one day — but it did increase a couple hours later. Would go again!

We stayed here in mid june. Probably the most misleading part of Edge of the Woods Campground is in the name. It is an RV park but promotes camping sites.
There is a grassed and flat area in the middle of the site. I saw at least one other party setting up a tent in this area, but apprently you need to pay more for that as our party was assigned an uneven, ungroomed, tree filled, corner of campground. Facilities included one porta john and I didn’t see any areas for running water.
In regards to paying the camp, I saw what the other reviewer mentioned about having the price changed. After our payment was made this also happened to us where he told us he «messed» up and needed to charge more. I wonder if the the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce is aware of any of this?
If you are up in Gilford/​Laconia for an event or vacation, try and seek out another place to stay. While EOTW is convenient because of its location there is little other value to it.
