S.T.A.R.S. of Horsemanship

We had an excellent initial experience with STARS! My 8-​year old truly enjoyed engaging with the horses and the very caring and knowledgeable team here. How fabulous to be able to show up on a Saturday without an appointment and have such a great experience. We have signed up for weekly lessons and she’s ecstatic! If her remaining sessions are as engaging as today’s was, we’ve found a gem!

They have good trainers and one of the best place to lease a horse.

This place is full of love for horses, friendship, and knowledge. I grew up in Azle, Tx a speck of a town outside of Fort Worth. I remember hopping on a horse with no regard for safety and boom I was running done the fence line at the ranch. I never really talked about my love for horses with my Daughter. Last summer my Mom took her. She wanted to find something for her to do so she enrolled her in lessons. So, my daughter had started lessons back in Austin, TX at 7 with a fantastic Stable and one of the best instructors Paul Cates. When coming back to Gilbert after that summer she was really passionate about her riding and all things horses. I was told about S.T.A.R.S. through a friend she said this is a great BEGINNERS barn. She was right! My daughter has learned so much from her instructors and the horses. She is in the The S.T.A.R.S. Saddle Club (like 4H) every Tuesday. She is part of the Barrel racing team at the SSC Gymkhanas and on May 10^th she took home Reserve Champion! Not only is she in lessons but we board there as well. Our Supermodel of a horse is pampered to the nines. I have always said you make your surroundings what they are, Everywhere you board it is going to be the same if you expect someone else to take care of your horse unless you own a show horse at a show barn. We are not the boarders that come out 1 or 2 a week. We are there almost everyday rain or shine. They have a great environment for my daughter and Horse to learn and grow together. If you are looking for a place that can teach you all about equine science, Western riding, English riding, Jumping, Barrel racing, and all things horse (without the stuffy attitude) then you have found it! And you might just make some life long friends as well. :)

Love this place. First 85% rescue horses, second I saw a kids bday party where a mini horse had one a birthday hat! The people there really live what they do and it shows. They are very informative, and eager to help. Affordable and you pay as you go so no packages you have to buy. We love this place. The horses are cute too!

If you are looking for a place where you can learn all there is to know about horses — this is it! My daughter, age 10, started riding at this stable to gain confidence and get over a fear of large animals. When we started she could barely sit on a horse without being afraid. The instructors are patient and kind. They work with the students not just on riding but on learning all about the horses from tack, to the parts of the horse, to feed to illnesses. The students are taught to get the horses from their stables, tie them up, groom them, tack them and ride. My daughter has learned proper mounting, riding Western and English, posting and is now starting to jump cross-​rails. The barn has a very large arena, a smaller square pen and two round arenas. You are always allowed to visit the horses and walk the barn. The instructors are always available to answer questions and give advice. My daughter rides with two different instructors and they both have been great about texting if a class is canceled or if the arena is wet. On days when the arena is wet we have done rides around the neighborhood and groundwork in the smaller pens. The ground lessons have been as valuable as the riding for my daughter. She can now check a horses feet, tell if they are getting enough water and check for sores. She also knows how to stretch them and work them in the small pen. The barn has a large amount of horses at all different levels from beginner to advanced and all breeds. They also have rescue horses they save and retrain. They also have instructors who work with Special Olympics and kids with special needs. I would highly recommend giving them a chance. We are very happy!

To start off, the website says texting the coordinator is the best way to get a response. It was raining that Saturday when my daughter, an experienced rider, was going to do a try-​out lesson to see where she would be placed. I sent a text to see if they would still be holding lessons or whether the ring was too muddy. After almost an hour with no response, I called and left a message. I did not hear back until the next day with a response of «Sorry I had my phone off» and then proceeded to tell me that I could have brought her as they teach the riders to ‘tack up and groom’. (This would not help place my daughter in the right riding group, did they expect me to pay $ 35 to have my daughter groom horses?) Nevertheless, we decided we would try the next weekend. We pulled into the stables to what looked like a circus. We walked up and stood around with no greeting for about 5 min, I noticed others filling out information on a clipboard, so I went and hunted one down, still with no greeting. After completing my waiver sheet for the lesson, a very brash woman asked me if I was done and demanded I pay the fee «Cash or check?» When I looked at her with a puzzled look on my face she said «there’s an ATM across the street.» My problem with this is there was no «Hello, how are you today?», no «Welcome to Triple L Stables!». Just a corral of people joining the horses. I want my experience to be welcoming if I’m going to fork out $ 35 a lesson. I do not want feel like my child will just be a number in your business. We left and my daughter looked up some reviews. You can easily spot the manufactured comments and I understand the real reviews. I would not recommend this place to anyone, as I could not get past the door.

This place is amazing. I personally ride here and I have a blast every time I come and I learn so much. The trainers are very knowledgeable and work with you towards what you want to accomplish. The arena is huge and there are 2 round pens and a cow pen and a cow run. I have seen new people come to a lesson that have never ridden a horse before and by the end of the lesson look sooo much better than the first few minutes of getting on the horse!
The leasing program here is great! I lease a horse here and I’ve never had any problems. Even the people who board here are friendly!
One thing I really appreciate about this barn is that many of the horses here are rescue horses. When they get there, they are sometimes severely underweight, but in a couple months they have put on a ton of weight and are ready to be ridden, pampered, and loved by others. :)
I literally cannot say how much I love this barn, I’ve been to others where the trainers are stuck-​up and plain mean! All the trainers i’ve had here though are awesome. You learn more than just how to ride a horse here, you make great friends and learn how to be a good horse person.

We purchased a lving social to try this place out since my daughter loves horses and I thought maybe this is something we can do for long term. The horses and trainers are great, management is not. We showed up for first lesson, everything went great, kids had fun and it was informative for the adults. When we tried to schedule the 2^nd lesson from the deal it was hard to get people to call us back via phone and text. It took my husband a whole week trying to book the appt. The worst part is today when he showed up with my 4 year old, he was told the ground is too muddy to have the regular lesson and no one bothered to call him and let him know. Imagine telling a 4 year old she can’t ride the horse today after you show up. It took him an hour to get there from where we live! I will not recommend this place. If it wasn’t because we have already paid for the 2^nd lesson, I wouldn’t even bother calling the 2^nd time to make appt.

We have been riding here since last year. My daughter loves coming.
