Specialties
The focus of our winemaking efforts is centered around the Cabernet family of varietals. Nonetheless, we also have a keen interest in Zinfandel and Chardonnay. Our annual production is roughly 7,000 cases, consisting of many small lots averaging in size from 200 to 400 cases each. Most of our annual production is sold directly to consumers from the winery’s tasting room and through our mailing list and website.
History
Established in 1999.
We remained few, so to ensure quality we make wine in small amounts. We enjoy diversity, so we make our wines from a number of vineyards and varieties. We embrace life, so we share our love of living with those who join us either for a day or for a lifetime.
Our philosophy is reflected in the design of our winery and approach to winemaking. Bold but thoughtful. A blend of traditional and modern. Efficient, but lively and spirited. Our wines, we hope, embody our hard work, attention to detail and the joy we take in making them.
We are all a bit free-spirited and Bohemian by nature. Conventional rules, devoid of understanding or heart, hold no appeal for us. Guided by youthful enthusiasm and tireless dedication, we produce balanced wines high in quality, rich in fruit, and deep in character.
Meet the Manager
Tim H.
Manager
Tim’s passion is vineyard management. He loves to walk the vines and check their progress daily. When the frost alarm sounds at four in the morning, Tim bundles up and opens the water valves to ensure their safety. He is completely responsible for the upkeep and well-being of the grapes. Each season brings a different result, so his knowledge, devotion, and vigilance is vital to our success.
Tim is justifiably proud of our estate vineyards, now in full production. He is especially enthusiastic about our three distinct estate Cabernet clones. 2007 was the first year each clone was barreled separately, and if the results please him, he may offer us a «3-pack» some time in the future. Also, he can’t wait to roll out our new Proprietor’s Red, a blend of our estate Cabernet with a touch of Petit Verdot. Speaking of which, Tim is a big fan of Petit Verdot that’s why you’ll see two 100% bottles yearly from our growing partners at Rockpile and Speedy Creek vineyards.
