Segway Tours of Gettysburg

This tour was awesome, segways are fun, and the guides stress safety and comfort. Gettysburg provides a ton of historical sites and monuments to discover. Bonus, the offer military discounts!

My husband and I did our Segway tour yesterday, August 29^th, 2015. Bob, the owner of the company, was our tour guide. It was amazing! I can’t recommend this tour company enough. I was a nervous wreck and am very uncoordinated. The staff (especially Erin) put me at ease and helped me learn how to navigate the obstacle course training until I was comfortable. We headed out on our tour and I felt very confident and enjoyed every moment of the tour. One note, my husband and I visited the Gettysburg Visitors Center and Battlefield Museum before going on the Segway tour which gave me (my husband is a history buff) much more insight into the battle and I was more informed about what we saw on the Segway tour because of going there first. I would recommend doing the same. The tour is very interesting and very informative. We both enjoyed the experience and will definitely bring our friends back to Segway with us! THIS IS A DO NOT MISS ADVENTURE!!!

Best Gettysburg tour ever! Staff very nice and stresses safety. We had a Gettysburg Park guide who was excellent. The weather was perfect too! Highly recommend this tour for history buffs, families and adventurers!

We had a great experience. Touring the Battlefield with a Segway is the way to go. You cover alot more ground faster than on foot and you still have the experiences of being outside verses in a car.
For firstime Segway people they offer a very good training course. When you finish it you are confident and comfortable on it.
I would recommend this to anyone!

Great experience with Segway Tours of Gettysburg. Called on a day with no scheduled tours, because it was an unseasonably beautiful day in December, and they were able to accommodate our group of 5 and another group of 3. Introductory obstacle course was super helpful to get us comfortable, and far trickier than any obstacles we actually came across. The tour itself is narrated by an audio recording, but they do send along a great guide (Megan in our case) to guide the way and help with the segways. She learned our names immediately, and brought along complimentary water, hot tea, snacks, and even mittens and hand warmers for when the sun started to go down. Just very professional and well organized and a super fun way to see a lot of Gettysburg! Highly recommended!

My first Segway tour ever and what an amazing locality to learn! I had been to Gettysburg before via car and had to stop and start frequently to see the battlefield spots. Doing it by Segway was so much easier! Great guides from the company taught us easily how to work the Segway itself in the parking lot before we started the tour. They gave us a radio to listen to the guide as we rolled around, which was very helpful in getting the historical information along the way. I gained a much better feel for the battlefield and special parts of it because I felt more connected to it being open on the Segway as opposed to being in a car or bus. I took loads of pictures and videos while on the Segway and have some great memories of Gettysburg. The very positive experience from this tour encouraged me to go on other Segway tours around the world. I am up to four of them, all of them about $ 70 per person and well worth the price.

Met a friend in Gettysburg September 2014 for a few days of golf. One day after we finished we decided to take the Segway Tour. It was a great time. Everyone involved was professional and helpful. Our tour guide Jessie, was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a pleasure to be out there with. What a great time and fun way to view the battlefield.

A great experience and the entire process was well done — training obstacle course with Jess and Steve, microphone and ear piece so we could hear the tour guide on the roads, two guides instead of just one, complimentary snacks and water, and a fairly lengthy tour. We toured the Eastern battlefield — beautiful scenery and I learned so much. Be sure to request Charlie Fennell: a licensed battlefield guide, extremely knowledgeable and entertaining! This was my favorite segway tour out of the 3 that I’ve done in other cities.

I can’t say enough good things about the experience. The Segway train in sad expert and efficient. The audio tour was entertaining and just the right length to get a feel for the battle. Our guide, Jesse was charming, organized without being intrusive. Would definately choose them over all other ways to see the park

Our Segway tour was terrific! We have taken Segway tours on flat terrain in other cities before so I was a bit nervous about what Gettysburg’s hills might be like but Megan and Jamal provided excellent and supportive training. We
Were well prepared and Bob the owner gave us a fantastic tour. He so politely herded the teens in the group so that they were kept safes and had fun, encouraged us along, and made sure that we saw the best bits of the battlefield. He also kept us supplied with free water, cheese, grapes and cookies! Recommend this highly– for all ages– we are in our 60’s and loved it!

Is it weird that my feet got tired from riding on a Segway? I really enjoyed the tour. From the introductory ride in their indoor obstacle course to the actual tour itself, I had a great time. Our guide was ridiculously knowledgeable about Gettysburg. You could pretty much as him anything and he had the answer. You could tell he really lives and breathes the history. There was also a second guide to help us with the Segways and to give us candy and cookies during the breaks. It’s a great way to cover a lot of ground, and the battle really did cover a lot of ground. I would recommend to read up a little to get a bit of an overview of the battle before you go, you would get much more out of the tour.

This place is awesome, and what better way to tour Gettysburg, than on a segway?! I myself do find Gburg to be a little bit over hyped. But who cares when you’re learning a new skill and having a great time. it was even drizzling on our tour and no one complained na’ery a peep!
You go there and they give you training. We had a small group of 7… each person is assisted on the segway, allowed to stand, then turn around. It can take some adjustment to get used to, but everyone in our group, including a few oldies… picked it up without incident.
A staff member assists you through the entire obstacle course (yes there is an indoor obstacle course) to make sure you are confident in riding the segway prior to going out on the tour. they often stand in front of you even if you are going down an incline, to ensure that you dont fall over… not that anyone did. and it didnt seem like anyone was on the verge of falling.
then you head out… and yes they want you to be single file because it’s easier to keep tabs on everyone. and when you’re going through intersections and like. going through ‘the city’ is not sooo bad. most people are surprised at seeing segways and will give the entire group the right of way.
Then you go out on the ride… our was not a «tour» per se. but that was just fine with us. it was fun to be able to get the feel of the segway and just see the beautiful countryside. in the end every one in the group was all smiles. it was just more fun then expected!
and yes there are one or two staff members that maybe come across as gruff but most of them were really nice. they know your names right after you get there. super helpful and light hearted. it sucks a little because the tour is rain or shine… but like i said no one even cared after they were on the segways!
I think this would be the only way i tour gettysburg… esp in the summer (as it’s just too hot to walk)… and they have a parking lot. that’s a plus!!! I’m definitely going to sign up for an actual battlefield tour nexttime! :)
p. s. i’m very awkward and i thought it would be hard to pick up and/​or i would be the one to fall off… and seriously after going through the obstacle course twice, i was pretty confident with it all! :o))

OK — I’ve done a few of these Segway tours. This is the third city I’ve taken a tour of and easily one of the best. I can’t think of a better way to tour the battlefield. I’ve lived within an hour of the place for the last 50 years and done pretty much every available tour that has come and gone and this was the best.
Right off the bat we had more Segway training than any other city. At first i thought it was too much but considering the hills, valleys and roads they took us on — the training was perfect.
The 3 hour tour (start singing the Gilligan’s Island song now) took us all over the battlefield while we listened to a recording giving history and our guide Jessie pointed out the areas discussed on the recording. She was bright and fun and added to the pleasant experience. She was also buck naked the entire time which made following her much more pleasant. OK — I lied bout that part. I just wanted to see if you were still reading.
Anyway — skip the buss. Forget the car tour or even the helicopter. Experience the battlefield the way our ancestors did. On a Segway. Well they would have if they were available and people were not shooting at them.
This is a great way to really learn something about an important part of American history WHILE having fun and getting outside. Well worth the price and you will NOT regret it.

Great Experience at Gettysburg!
My wife and I had a wonderful experience with SegTours of Gettysburg on April 4, 2014. The tour was very educational and fun. Our guide, Bob, is a Civil War historian and collector. In addition to the wonderful information on the National Park Service recorded tape, Bob shared with us other interesting perspectives and tidbits while outside the National Park. Most memorable… the day was fairly chilly. It was compounded by traveling at 10 miles per hour on the (easy-​to-​use) Segway. To ensure that we were comfortable, Bob provided not one, but two coats to keep warm. He also served hot spiced tea and cookies on our frequent stops. That made our day! SegTours was a great way to tour and learn the details of Gettysburg.

The best way to tour Gettysburg battlefield is Segway. You take a nine mile tour around the battlefield passing other tour groups and really getting a feel for the battlefield. The best is that you get a audio tour guide. I totally recommend this to anyone who want to have fun real feel tour the right way.

A guided tour on a Segway is an excellent way to experience the Gettysburg battlefield. After a short orientation & training session you are a proficient operator. This gives you unique maneuverability to explore the area while getting focused, knowledgeable commentary of the environs as you glide along. My tour was on the 4^th of July and also the week of the 150^th anniversary of the Battle, so auto and foot traffic was very thick in the entire National Monument, yet the Segways maneuvered quite freely throughout. Though this was a hot July day, since you are out, up and generating your own breeze, we were always quite comfortable, plus they sent us out packing two bottles of water.
Highly recommended for the history buff or the casual patriot !

So glad to have learned about this just before my trip to Gettysburg. It was a phenomenal experience. Gary and Andy were excellent trainers, and Gary was a terrific escort! I’ve done the auto tour, but it was so nice to not have to get into and out of a vehicle constantly. (The envious looks from other tourists made it kind of fun too!) I would recommend this to anyone coming here, and I’ll do it again if I have the opportunity!

0 stars for the tour guide. Now, let me tell you why. Our tour guide (Megan) was very… demanding. She chastised us when we weren’t in perfect formation and always seemed sarcastic and somewhat cold. I mean at the time I had a terrible cold, was in a horrible mood and even I felt like she was being a little bit coarse. I’ll agree with Eliot and say that the audio for the tour was lame. Our group of 7 was having a great time on the Segways’ and felt like the audio part of the tour was more annoying than anything. I would rather have a social tour guide tell us about the sights and be able to ask questions, then a planned recording that told us to «look over at this obscure item.» Our group is extremely friendly and sociable and we all felt stifled and pressured to not ask questions. We asked about some of the war re-​enactments and she smugly answered «I don’t know what time they are, ask ‘em yourself!»
Uhh.not helpful. Also, we started to get rained on pretty bad and I’m convinced she didn’t care all that much.
We all agreed that this tour was not worth the 2 hour drive from D. C, but Gettysburg is definitely worth it. I’ve heard great things about the audio tour that you can take in your car, and I wish we would have done that instead. Check it out!
Gettysburg itself is beautiful and a lot larger than you would think, please go see it, but NOT on this tour.

Fantastic way to see Gettysburg. While everyone else is stuck in busses and cars… we were all over the town and battlegrounds on a Segway. The weather was beautiful and the staff was so friendly! The tour is long (which is good!) and covers a lot of ground. The guides give you plenty of time in their parking lot before the tour to get familiar with the Segway. The staff is also very good at practicing «driving» a Segway with the full rights and responsibilities of a vehicle. I was impressed and had a great time!
Personally, I had one niggle… I didn’t really enjoy the audio narration. I’m sure the audio guide is very good and all, but I just get so lost in the battle narration that my brain fades off. I think I would have just enjoyed riding the Segways instead!
