Gettysburg Battlefield Bus Tours

A must do before venturing out on your own. Our bus driver was great. Our tour guide Joel was beyond fabulous. A real knowledge of all things civil war.
The bus tour gives you a great feel of actually what occurred on these hallowed ground before venturing out on your own. If you can only do one thing in Gettysburg, take this bus tour.

I wish I knew our tour guide’s name because he was awesome! We will call him MC G-​burg because he actually rapped for us! He was quite knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to. He was funny and even interacted well with all the children in our group. The bus ride was enjoyable and all 36 of the people in our group had a great time. I took one star away because when we boarded the bus the bus driver gave a «just sit there and listen» speech that kind of put a damper on our excitement. Luckily our tour guide boosted it back up. Highly recommended to see the battlefield and hear history with interesting stories mixed in!

If you’re going to learn about the Battle of Gettysburg, discovery its history or view the battlefields, the best way to start is to get yourself orientated and gain a fundamental understanding of what you are looking at. In order to do this, the best way to get started is with Gettysburg Battlefield Bus Tours. So, grab a seat on the open top deck and get started. The narrators are actually certified as battlefield tour guides and know every detail of what they are talking about. Besides that, when at stops, they are more than willing to answer any personal or particular questions you may have.
The starting place of the bus tours is souvenir shop located in the Gettysburg Visitors Parking area which offers plenty of parking; all free of charge. The buses are of recent vintage, clean and comfortable. As far as bus tours go, and I’ve been on plenty of them all over the world, this is one of the better.

Good price but a great view sit up on top to get the good views of the battlefields and also famous places to see we made two stops one in the cemetery and the other up on the ridge it was really pretty good the two hour tour even gave us a break only $ 30 for two hours not bad

Had the pleasure to take this bus tour of the battlefield of Gettysburg this last weekend! Now we were there on a cold January Saturday afternoon. Up side to this was no big crowds — only 11 people on the bus, no leaves on trees made the battlefield easier to see. Down side was of course the cold and only one stop to walkabout at the Round top which was amazing but short lived due to chilly wind threatening to freeze my face off.
Bus is very comfortable, huge oversized windows everywhere make for excellent visibility. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and would stop the recording of the tour when appropriate to point things out. How this works is there is a recording which is first person narrated to be at that point in time, during the battle. At first this seemed hokey but if you listen its actually quite effective. This with the driver’s additions made for a wonderful tour.
Two hours long, one stop for the restroom half way through.
The battlefield is so enormous — I had NO idea of course how huge this place was so taking a tour like this is essential to understanding and getting the most out of this historic site. In places you see the damage to the original buildings, most of which still stand, including a cannon ball wedged into an upper portion of a brick barn.
The best part of the tour was the pause to experience last charge of day three by the confederates. Of note the tour is extremely unbiased pro Union or Confederate which is much appreciated.
Overall, highly recommend this bus tour — you will not regret it!

My wife and I enjoyed our tour immensely. The drive/​tour guide was was very knowledgeable and friendly I would recommend this tour service to anyone visiting Gettysburg. My wife and I learned so much and enjoyed the ride. Excellent job!

This is the best way to start of your tour when you get here. For $ 43 (adult price) you are given a 2 hour tour of the entire battlefield with stops at Devil’s Den, Little Round Top and other spots where you deboard and are able to wander. It’s a great way to see all the sites before coming back later in your car for further exploring.
The guide was knowledgeable and fun. This price came with added admission into 3 other historical attractions in Gettysburg than you can choose from a list. Highly informative and recommended.

Want to make sure the tour I am referring is the one where tickets are purchased from the Gettysburg Visitors Center operated by the National Park Service.
The battlefield is too large to get a good perspective without a guide. Informative two hour tour with tour guide commentary was perfect! There are three or four stops and opportunities to get off the bus to hear commentaries highlighting key battles during the three day engagement in 1863.
Interestingly, the tour does not stop at the location nearby where Lincoln made his famous speech. The location of Lincoln’s speech is at the Soldier National Cemetery adjacent to the battlefield which can be explored on your own for free.

I loved this tour– it was my favorite of all the things we did while in Gettysburg. The driver was Charlie, but I can’t remember the tour guide which is unfortunate because he was awesome. He told me he had been giving tours for 27 years and you could tell, he was quite knowledgeable. He did talk a bit fast but there was so much info to absorb I don’t think him speaking slower would have helped my comprehension any.
Their website says buy tickets 24hrs in advance but we didn’t and it wasn’t a problem. I called in the am and they put my name on a list and we had no issues.
The tour was 2 hours, $ 30/​person and 100% worth both the time and money.

We enjoyed this tour a lot! We were able to get on last minute, buying tickets just about 10 minutes before the bus boarded to leave. Unfortunately we were there on Day 1 of the government shut down and many roads were closed as well as monuments, battle fields etc. This altered the tour route greatly! However, our guide and bus driver did an excellent job rerouting the tour and still providing us with a great deal of information and sites to see! They gave us our money’s worth for the full 2 hours so I still felt like it was worth it.

Fantastic trip here! I don’t know if this is the type of business that checks Unilocal regularly, but we had a great time. Christine was our guide and Charlie drove the bus– both were very courteous and knowledgeable. Christine said at the beginning that she was suffering from allergies, but came through like a champ. She made the tour very enjoyable and gave us some ideas for places to go back and explore on our own. My one qualm is that the bus didn’t stop to visit Devil’s Den, but we were planning to go back that way anyways. Overall, it a great experience with plenty of interesting stories and history that really enhanced seeing the battlefield. For the 150^th anniversary they really came through, even during a very busy tourist season. I was really impressed by it all!

Horrible.
A goofy recording of actors yelling at each other while the driver drove aimlessly around the battlefield.
No one had a clue what we were looking at, and the so-​call tour guide just flirted with the driver, never giving out any info, or talk, nor points of interest what-​so-​ever.
Absolutely nothing.
We stopped three times:
First had no idea where we were until we read the signs.
Then stopped once again so they could sell chips and drinks.
The third stop we all determined it was at Pickets charge, but not until everyone on the bus eventually figured it out on our own.
The so-​called guide was a big dopie idiot that said nor pointed out nothing.
This is simply a cattle call with indifferent employees, and a ridiculous attempt at a tour.
As bad as it gets and they are well aware of it.
Avoid this, yet another, Gettysburg tourist trap business.

Bob Gale was our tour guide, and he was great. I highly recommend these tours to get your feet on the ground before heading out on your own.
