The Inn itself is magnificent! We thoroughly enjoyed the obvious care that went into restoring the facility and decorating it to match the era with appropriate heirlooms.
The hotel staff was PHENOMENAL!!! EVERYONE was friendly and welcoming and exhibited pride in the property and enjoyed providing background information about the artifacts on display. Alex and Sandy were both especially helpful.
We have already recommended the Federal Pointe Inn to multiple friends and family members, our stay here truly enhanced our trip! Will stay here again when returning to the area.

Everything about this hotel is perfect. Keri who works at the front desk was so sweet, helpful and knowledgeable! She provided such excellent customer service! The rooms are simply beautiful and oh so clean. So much charm and close to town circle! We will definitely stay again.

We travel regularly to Gettysburg but this was our first stay here, since they closed our favorite Gen. Lees Quality Inn. We were searching for another great place. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and given the history of the hotel as we were personally guided to our room. The room was spacious with high ceilings. The bathroom was modern with granite shower and vanity. The pub in the basement was also very nice with equally friendly staff. Delicious scones and tea are served between 3pm and 4pm. We were greeted just as warmly during checkout. After commenting how much we enjoyed the scones, we we’re given a couple of scones for the road. My only negative is no breakfast served. Other then that we loved it there and look forward to our next trip to try the drinks and food in the basement pub. Highly recommended.

This is a very nice hotel. Great friendly staff. Clean updated rooms. Not much else you could ask for except floor that don’t squeak and creek. If you stay here make sure you’re on the top floor!

My wife and I stayed at this inn, which was once the Mead School built in 1896. The owner who lives on the top floor converted the school into the most lovely rooms. Our room had a king bed and it was tastefully decorated with paintings of Gettysburg and furnished with beautiful antique furniture. The rooms have high ceilings and large windows and a modern bath with granite floors and large shower. There may be 18 rooms/​suites total and other guests are so friendly, many have stayed here before and I know why. There is a small pub located in the basement that’s perfect for a cocktail before dinner or a night cap afterwards. I highly recommend that you order the crab cake, which is one of the best I have ever had. I was told by another guest that they get the crab cakes from Ocean City, MD. The person at the reception desk «Sandy» welcomed us when we arrived and she provided a history of the inn and gave us a map of the historic downtown and highlighted some of the local restaurants in walking distance from the inn.
At night we would sit outside on the porch near the lobby and talk with other guests at the hotel. So much charm. Two thumbs up!

Awesomely Spectacular rooms! You will not find such beautiful at this price any where! Bar in basement was such a pleasant experience. They can sure hustle! HIGHLY recommend this for a weekend get away that makes you feel like royalty!

Absolutely in love with this place. I love to see old buildings given new life & what a great job they did converting this old school to a hotel. My husband and I stayed here one night for the 4^th of July, which the steps to the building happened to be front row seats for the fireworks that night. Bonus! Plus, there is a sweet pub in the basement. The staff where all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

Federal Pointe has a cozy, nostalgic feel to it. You get Gettysburg experience with the luxurious modern amenities. Even the holiday decorations were impressive! We had tea and scones this afternoon and chatted with the owner. Conveniently located as well!

Very nice. Stayed here twice and enjoyed the large rooms and clean bathrooms. Extremely close to the center of town, the college, and the battlefield.

Really cool place. Desk clerk took us to our room personally while giving us a brief tour of the building. Great historic place. Renovated school building. Very clean, massive room. Wonderful staff. Can’t wait to come again. This is a very quaint hotel. It used to be an old elementary school which has been renovated into an 18 room hotel. As much of the original building has been kept such as the wainscoting and the blackboard frames. The old floor, under the carpeting still squeaks and took me back to 1972 and Miss Raynock’s first grade class in the old elementary school I attended. There are 13 foot ceilings and large windows in the rooms. The original classrooms have been cut into two guest suites and baths and closets added. I have read other reviews here which complained about the size of the lobby. Who cares. It’s not like you’re going to have a family reunion in the lobby. You check in and move on. The front desk clerk personally led us up to our room and made sure we knew how to work the heat. In the room we found a Keurig machine and 4 pods for coffee and tea and complimentary bottled water. What a nice surprise. There is no elevator, but again, in trying to preserve as much of the original building as possible, it would be impractical to put in an elevator. The hotel is only three floors, pub and fitness center on the lowest level and rooms on the other two. If you have trouble doing the steps, ask for a room on the lobby level. We had the honor of speaking with the owner who, incidentally, lives on the premises in the apartment above the hotel. He was a delightful man who asked how we were enjoying our stay and if there was anything he could help us with. It’s not often were you would find the OWNER of a property concerned about your stay. There is no breakfast, but they do have coffee and tea in the lobby and tea and scones between 3 and 4 PM. I would, without a doubt, stay here again and in fact, may plan another trip in the future with staying here in mind.

Decided to try Federal Pointe Inn as the reviews on Unilocal and Trip Advisor were so good and I have to say, they were spot on.
It’s a former school that has been carefully repurposed as a hotel.
It’s quiet and very tastefully done, with none of the chain hotel cookie cutter aura.
We were greeted and checked in by Vicky, who just could not have been more welcoming and helpful.
Clean and nicely appointed, it feels very much like you’re staying at someone’s home.
Bathroom was roomy and super clean with a nice oversized shower.
No on site restaurant but typical coffee in room and coffee and tea available in the lobby and scones in the afternoon.
They had honey for the tea drinkers which is a small but thoughtful addition.
Small breakfast restaurant about 50 yards away and downtown center is about a 5 minute walk.
If you’re looking for a beautiful quiet and somewhat classy place to stay in Gettysburg, you have found it here.
What could they have done to get that 5^th star? The single thing that was lacking was somewhere — anywhere, to place my «stuff» in the bathroom. Toiletries, toothbrush, etc. Just no where to put it.
Would absolutely stay here again and have no reservations recommending it to my fellow Unilocalers.

We were so impressed with this beautiful converted school right in the middle of downtown Gettysburg! Our room # 208 was booked as a «king suite» and was massive, with cavernous ceilings and a gorgeous giant bath, very modern. It wasn’t a suite in the traditional sense because it was all one room, but with the space it still made sense to call it that. Very comfortable finishes and beautiful big king-​size bed.
Both nights we enjoyed the sweet basement pub, and were grateful for the free coffee bar available in the hall right outside our room.
While you’re in Gettysburg be sure to check out the segway tour– it was a highlight of our trip!

We stayed here one night while visiting our daughter at Gettysburg College and fell in love with this hotel. Room 207, a queen bed suite, was a spacious corner room with high ceilings and abundant windows. The bed was super comfortable and the linens were soft and luxurious. Save time for a nice soak in the big tub. We loved the little pub in the basement. The woman working the front desk was very helpful when we had trouble connecting to the free wifi (resolved). The only complaint, and it’s minor, was that the room got a little hot during the night.
The location is perfect, just a few short walkable blocks from the center of town. Note: the hotel is not in the middle of a big field/​green space like the hotel’s photos lead you to believe. It’s right in town. Gettysburg College parents can easily walk to campus from the hotel.
As frequent visitors to Gettysburg in the last four years, we’ve tried many hotels in the area and this one tops the list. Too bad it’s booked for college graduation this May!

One of the most beautiful Inns in Gettysburg. Definitely has the largest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The Inn is beautiful and located close to downtown Gettysburg and walking distance to the main streets of Gettysburg. It is an old converted school (Meade School) that closed in 1992. (Opened in 1897)
In 2012, the school was saved from demolition and converted into an 18 suite luxury Inn. The renovation cost over $ 1.5 million and it was very well done.
There is afternoon coffee, tea and scones and a beautiful bar in the ‘basement’ of the old school. There are old class photos everywhere and lots of Civil War paintings scattered throughout the Inn by acclaimed artist Dale Gallon. The rooms are beautiful with imported carpet, mini-​fridge and granite bathrooms and showers. It has a very nice appeal if you like historic Inn’s.

My sister, a friend, and myself decided a year out to visit Gettysburg on the tail end of the bicentennial celebration, but could not find a place to stay! I chanced across the Federal Pointe Inn and was very pleased when they had availability! When we arrived, we were put in the «honeymoon suite» on the bottom floor of the building. The room was very large, comfortable, and so quiet! They have placed a dehumidifier in that room, which was a very good idea, as we emptied it everyday (I live in PA so this is nothing new to me). The female manager or assistant manager who was on duty most days we were there was very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is close to the town center, but not surrounded by tourists. We will definitely stay again!

We just returned from a weekend stay in Gettysburg for the 150^th anniversary of the Battle. We stayed two nights at the Federal Pointe Inn and I can’t say enough about this hotel. It exceeded my exceptions at every turn. The Inn has a lot of character — it’s a converted school building which was originally built in 1896 and recently renovated.
Our room was very large. We had a king size bed and a pull out couch. There was plenty of floor space, even with the desk, square coffee table, chair and fridge. We never felt cramped when we were in the room and we are a family of 4. Our room was on the ground floor in the front right corner, so there were tons of windows which provided great sunlight during the day (dark hotel rooms are a pet peeve of mine so I was so happy), and the curtains completely covered the windows for privacy and darkness at night. We didn’t hear any street noise, even though the hotel is at a point where two somewhat major roads meet.
The bathroom was also very large and very modern. It had a marble shower and a separate whirlpool tub. Everything was so clean and comfortable. There was a nice hairdryer in the room, as well.
They serve a complementary tea in the afternoon in the hallway right outside our room, with delicious scones of many different varieties. I’m pretty sure my family wiped them out — we were famished and saw the tray when we came home — and they were replenished minutes later.
The Inn is in the process of applying for their liquor license, so there was no bar when we stayed here, but it’s in the plans.
There was a Keurig in the room with k-​cups, but we walked a few blocks to 7 – 11 each morning for coffee. The hotel is conveniently located so that you can walk to the main shopping and dining areas, but you have the privacy of being in a quieter part of the town just a few blocks from the busy streets.
If we visit Gettysburg again we will definitely stay here. A great find — a newly renovated hotel with character!

Clean rooms. Even though the original classrooms were cut in half to make 2 hotel rooms each, each individual hotel room is still plenty ample. And, includes fridges/​micros and sitting chairs. A bit cramped if you were 2 in a room, perhaps. (I was just 1 on this trip.)
I agree with another poster that the bed was THE most comfortable thing I have slept on lately. I even ripped my sheets off in the morning looking for a label on the mattress, but, I couldn’t find one (I’m guessing mine was sadly on the underside).
Good location — away from the cluster of downtown, but, close enough to easily walk to anything downtown. And, comes with its own parking lot, which is great.
Down side — I tend to get cold very easily. And, I was there in early May, when the nights still dipped down into the upper 40s /​low 50s. The rooms are heated only by electric baseboard heaters. And, when they first walk you to the room, the AC has been on high for quite some time before you get there. So you just spend more electricity over-​riding all that AC to get the room to a normal temperature. I get it — all hotels do this because somehow the room FEELS more clean if it’s cold and dry, versus warm and moist. I get it. But with the electric baseboards, it just takes a long time to counter-​act, and then, at 3:00 am, you are too warm and have to stumble over to the floor to shut the thing off. A bit inconvenient, but, I’m sure there were insane limitations in their remodel.
Look at this review! The only bad thinig I could say about staying in this historic property was that «wah, they had to use electric baseboard heaters.»
Just stay here. It’s awesome. And not a dime more expensive than a chain property.
