I’m definitely spoiled from better sushi in the gulf region so that’s why they earn only 3⁄5 stars. That being said this place is the best sushi I have had in Memphis for sure. It’s nothing to write home about, but when you’re feeling like splurging on expensive sushi that is solid in the Germantown area then this is the place to go.

Some of the best sushi you’ll ever find. The Joyce and DJ rolls are two of my favorite. We came here for lunch on a Sunday, and had a pleasant experience for the most part. The place was not too busy, and the atmosphere was nice. I would have given 5 stars, but the server kind of forgot about us, so we waited around for about 15 minutes to get a check after we had finished eating, then about 15 more minutes for her to come pick up our payment. And this was when we were her only table. But, the sushi makes it all better! The prices are about what you’d get at most sushi restaurants, but I felt like the quality and quantity you get was far above par.

Great lunch or dinner spot. Amazing rolls. They are HUGE. Only reason for giving them three stars is we had very slow service including getting the bill. It was slightly frustrating since a group of us were meeting for work so we were on a time crunch– which I reminded the waitress of several times. However I do know people have bad days and restaurants get tied up so I’ll be giving them another try soon!

Outstanding! Some of the best tuna nigiri I have ever had. I got the Sakura roll, and it is huge. I’m pretty sure all the rolls are big. Service is quick, and they are attentive but not overly so. I say at the sushi bar, and you can see that all their fish looks really fresh and high quality. Highly recommended…

Great for lunch or dinner, the service & food never disappoint. The Joyce roll is amazing, so is the Ben roll. Great saki, never a long wait & food is always fast!

First time here and I really enjoyed it. As mentioned in other reviews, my lunch order was filled quickly and it was plenty. I ordered the 3 roll lunch special which came with miso soup and a salad. Pleasant atmosphere and service. Parking is a bit crowded, but I was able to find a spot at an adjacent business.

Our new favorite place for sushi, hands down. We cannot get over the sizes of the rolls, to start with. The quickness with which we get our food puts all other sushi restaurants to shame, especially during lunch rush, where you’d think it would be slower. The eel sauce is out of this world. We get the caterpillar roll with some editing due to allergies– yummy! Only negative is parking can be horrendous, so I have taken to going to the nail business next door early to get some pampering when parking is abundant then meet Hubby for lunch just after. We also visited a Sakura in Jackson, TN– different menu but same chain, same unique eel sauce. Try Sakura– you will not be sorry!

Don’t waste your time or money! This food is horrible and flavorless. 70 dollars for dinner and nothing tasted good.

Great place. Quite busy for a Wednesday evening. We got the house salad with ginger dressing and it was delicious. The sushi rolls we got came in very generous portions. Each roll had 10 – 12 pieces. We got the Joe and Mango! Excellent! Highly recommend this place.

I love the food here! I come all the time. Everyone I bring here gets hooked. It doesn’t take long to get the food and the service is also good. Eating here is a great driving experience. My favorite dishes are the Joyce roll and the teriyaki steak. You will not be disappointed when you come to Sakura! Enjoy.

Really legit sushi place. Good balance between authentic and fusion at the same time. A lot sushi selection and the ones that I had taste really good. The joyce roll was good but I expected it to be crunchier but it wasn’t. We were really intrigued with the Marty roll since it contains alfredo sauce. But it was surprisingly reaaaallly good. the BEST out of the ones we ordered. The volcano roll was ordinary. We also got the sashimi sampler for $ 30. The pieces are thick, yummy and cheap for its size! Definitely not dissapointed but really expected more. Will definitely visit again and try the rest of the different rolls :)

It’s OK. I’m a purist and not a fan of deep fried/cooked sushi with tons of mayo and«fast-foodie» profiles. But, Sakura does that kind of sushi very well. I had a lunch special; it’s on the menu as «Sushi and Sushi» lunch(a california roll with a few pieces of sushi — salmon, yellowtail, tuna, crab stick, shrimp and eel). The california roll was pretty good(I’m not generally a fan but didn’t even attempt to ask if I could swap it out for something else) and the pieces were OK. Fresh enough; nothing funky. My dad had the«Joyce roll» which had a bunch of different things(spicy mayo, tempura flakes, crawfish and other stuff) — it was very tasty but not traditional sushi. Tried the gyoza and it was average. The salad is a very generous portion(which comes with the lunch special) and the soup was either miso or clear soup. Overall, an OK/average sushi experience. Parking was a nightmare as we went at the height of lunch time.

I visited this location awhile ago! Lunch was excellent! Our server was so sweet and very attentive! I highly recommend trying the caterpillar roll and salmon skin. They were the bomb. So much food! You will go home happy you ate here. :)

This review is coming from a true sushi lover. If you are a sushi enthusiast like I am then this is your place. I have to literally stop myself from ordering too many rolls. I have yet to have a bad sushi roll here. The prices are great, the restaurant is nice and cozy and the service is excellent. The Joyce Roll, Sexy Lady, and Marty Rolls are a must.

I continue to enjoy this place. Excellent sushi… always fresh and well prepared. My favorite continues to be the«Spicy Girl» roll. The service is pretty good actually… the staff is always friendly. I recognize a number of servers who have worked here for many years. The kids meals are very good! One of my son’s enjoys the Shrimp Tempura… for only $ 5.95 it is great deal! All of their Tempura is lightly fried with no grease. Excellent. Love this place.

JOYCEROLL. That’s all you need to know. We also got the Sexy Lady and Volcano. Those were just okay. I wanted the Volcano to be a little more spicy but it was kind of sweet instead of spicy. The Joyce roll looks unmanageable but it’s actually 4 little pieces formed into a circular shape. Great service too. Fast for the business people on lunch break.

This place is wonderful. If you’re looking for excellent sushi, there’s the big 3: first is Osaka, then Sakura, and Sekisui. The atmosphere is very mellow and peaceful, great lighting, nice and quiet. Service is always great. The rolls are huge and very flavorful with nice sauces and seafood varieties. Try the fried banana desert with vanilla ice cream if you can hold it all! Do the whole deal too– get the miso soup, edamame, seaweed salad, a few rolls, and the fried banana. It gets no better. A+ all day long

This is my new favorite sushi spot and an absolute MUSTTRY! Service is fast and cordial and the food is amazing. We arrived at 7:30 and were promptly seated. While waiting for our dinner companions, I ordered a glass of Robert Mondavi pinot and it was delivered in just a few moments. Unfortunately, the bottle was open for way too long and it had soured. I advised the waitress, exchanged it for the Liberty School cab and had the same issue. By then, our friends arrived and advised just to order the house wines. Apparently the turnover is too infrequent to order from the wine menu. The house wine is Blackstone. This was the only issue with the evening. We ordered edamame, seaweed salads and a Joyce roll as appetizers. The edamame was lightly salted and perfect for me! The seaweed salads were almost entirely seaweed as they should be. It’s always disappointing to be served a bowl of mostly cucumbers! The Joyce roll was a new experience. Deep fried crawfish, shrimp tempura, avocado, fish eggs, sauce in an interesting spoke shape. For the entrees, we ordered the soft shelled crab roll, sashimi for $ 20 and the sashimi for $ 30. THEFISHISAMAZING. The $ 20 option included four huge, fresh pieces each of salmon, tuna, white tuna and super white tuna. I believe the $ 30 option included 24 pieces if the same. This dish will ruin other sushi places for you. Enjoy!

Came here fri night around 7:30 with another couple and were promptly seated in a packed restaurant thanks to call-ahead seating. No reservations, but might as well have been. THEWINEPROBLEM: Greeted promptly and GF and I ordered a glass of Pinot Noir(forgot brand) and an ichiban. The wine came back very sour. Ichiban was in 12oz not 16oz bottles for $ 4.25. GF sent the wine back and switched to a Liberty School Cabernet… That too was vinegar. :(Apparently their premium wines don’t get ordered enough? These were OLD bottles. Weeks even. Very disappointing. Switch to the house red(blackstone merlot) yielded an unspoiled glass. The server was gracious throughout, and this was the only black mark on an otherwise outstanding dining experience. THEFOOD: We are with another couple. We opened with edemame and seaweed salads(both excellent). They then tried a Joyce Roll(8.95) for the table which was fantastic. Purists take note it’s a complex roll with sauces and such, but the flavor profile was awesome. Great group snack with a unique pinwheel cut formation. For our entrée we chose Sashimi for $ 20 and they chose the $ 30 version. We added a Spider(soft shell crab) roll. THEBESTSASHIMIINMEMPHIS. PERIOD. for the $ 20 plate, we were presented with SIXTEENHUGE slices of unbelievably fresh fish. Each was nearly the size of a pack of gum! 4ea of Salmon, Tuna, White Tuna, and Super White Tuna. My friend(Brian M on here) travels the world for a living and has lived on 3 contents… He’s a sushi snob and he was raving about their sashimi. We were not disappointed. Simply put: if you want Sashimi. There is nowhere else in Memphis to go. The maki looked excellent on others tables and my spider roll was delicious. But the star of the show here are the sashimi platters available for $ 20(16pc), $ 30(24pc) and $ 40(presumably 32pc). Ordinarily the wine would have docked a point but the rest of the experience out shined the misstep.

Until this day this is mine and my husbands favorite sushi place. The service, the food, the ambiance, everything is very pleasant. We came with our two kids and they loved the teriyaki chicken. We had three rolls and it was plenty for me and my husband’s big appetite. We are coming back for sure!
