Residence Inn Memphis Germantown

The hotel was mediocre. I’ve stayed at much nicer Marriott residence inn’s. Our shower had noticeable mold under the wallpaper. The overall cleanliness of the room was just fair. The staff were friendly, but not especially helpful. The positives are ample parking, safe, and good location.

Pet-​owners beware.

I’m a lifetime Silver Member, close to lifetime Gold status. Unlike other Marriott properties in Tennessee, this property charges you for your pet, in addition to the damage liability policy you have to sign. For us, this fee was almost the entire room rate. So, for the cost of a second room, we were able to acknowledge that we had a pet in the room.
This fee is listed nowhere on the property’s website. There was no mention of it at check-​in. The bill under the door was our first indication. We have been trying to get a response from the property’s accounting department for several days at this point with no call back.
The room was clean. There is no dog walk area. The AC didn’t work very well. The staff was mediocre. The pet fee took this from a 3 to a 2 star rating.

Room smelled and towels thin with worn areas, this is worse than other residence Inn by Marriott national chain. This is poorly maintained, maid service not provide me extra towels despite having called desk. Breakfast standard with scrambled eggs, waffle maker, next to noisy railroad tracks. Free WiFi ok. Downstairs lobby has free desktop boarding pass printing. Free fruit in lobby. Unit 325 smelled of Indian food.

I rate this two starts, because I really have come to expect more from Marriott. Don’t get me wrong; this place is fine, and would be three starts if not a Marriott. From what I understand, this location was recently renovated. So this must be an older Residence. I stayed here for a little less than two weeks.
First, I’ll start with the breakfast. The area was really tight by Marriott standards. And the breakfast? Honestly, also fairly light by Marriott standards. And very little variety. The coffee pot was often empty.
For evening socials, the three nights were also sparse fare. One night was «Milk and Cookies». Sans the cookies, which I couldn’t find, but plenty of ice cream. One of the nights was BBQ; these were small sandwiches that weren’t bad. I don’t recall the third night, but it wasn’t much. There was a beer tap, which is of course GOOD. I’ve seen much better at other Residence’s.
The rooms were okay by Marriott standards. There was a problem with the heating in my room, but it was fixed after two calls/​stops at the desk (I had expected it to be fixed before I came «home», but it was not). There were two burners/​no oven. This does vary by property. However, there was no spaghetti pot or strainer. I suppose I could have asked for one, but ended up buying micro meals. I really don’t think there was much in the way of pots and pans in toto.
The laundry on site was also a problem. There were not enough machines, and some were out of service. And, one thing I love about Residence that was missing here… NO LAUNDRY BASKET IN THE ROOM! And there was no room safe, either.
One other annoyance… the wifi times out each day. I was in the middle of something important and guess what? I had to log back in.
Would I stay again? Probably. But I think Marriott needs to look at this property as being troubled.

Our stay was fantastic! Been here 6 weeks for work and no problems. Front desk staff is helpful, the breakfast is a good hotel breakfast, and our room has been completely renovated. It’s like a studio apartment with a full fridge and oven/​range with dishes and cookware. Very clean and professional. We will be back!

Definitely a hotel to avoid while visiting the area. And don’t stay loval whatsoever to the Marriott brand as well.
I’m a Platinum Premier member and I’ve been loyal to the Marriott brand for the past 10 years. Not Anymore, after what I experienced at this hotel.
I booked a room in this RI a week before I arrived and had no difficulty at all in reserving a room. Guess what happened on my day of arrival?
My flight from Chicago was delayed for about an hour so I didn’t arrive at this hotel until 1:30 AM. When I checked in, the front desk lady (who was really helpful) told me that the AC in my room was not running and they have booked me a room at the Days Inn nearby. It was 1:30 in the morning and I had a meeting at 7:30 and I didn’t have a hotel room in one of the busiest week in Memphis. The Manager or the staff of this hotel didn’t even bother to call or to email me earlier so I could find another hotel when I had the chance. At that hour, I was calling about 10 hotels from downtown to Collierville and no one had a room available. I ended up staying at the Days Inn which was horrible (dirty and had dead bugs all around the room).
10 years of being a loyal customer and I was not even notified when a ‘working’ room was not available. Unbelievable.

This hotel seemed nice. I did not stay at it. One of my friends stayed here when he was in town. I do normally like RI’s

Too close to railroad tracks and dumpsters of nearby businesses. 2 chairs in kitchen were broken. No bedding for sofa bed. Not one single trash container in room. Handle to outside door would not lock.
Employees tried to help but they could only do so much.
I’m a platinum première member for Marriott and this property will be a place to avoid in the future.

We stayed here a few days recently on points and we were given a room in the worst possible location next to a dumpster and the furniture was chewed up and scratched and everything in the room was very tired. We requested and received another room which was better but still tired. The least they could do is replace the furniture that has been chewed up by Pets. The location is questionable too. It is off the main road right next to the railroad tracks so there are trains roaring by frequently all night. We would not stay here again.

If it had not been for the insane amount of mold we found on the shower curtain and the fact it was replaced with another moldy shower curtain, I would have given a decent review until we found a Gatorade bottle under the bed that did not belong to us.
The staff are nice, but the cleanliness of the establishment is questionable considering this experience. Worst stay in a Marriott I have ever had, and I’m a Marriott Rewards member who travels at least once a month.

Without a doubt, 5-​stars, no question. We stayed here this weekend (August 17−18^th) and I’m not clever enough to come with enough compliments about this hotel. Let me start with the most important part: the staff. They… were…awesome. It was such a relief not to be treated like a tourist (especially since I live in a VERY similar tourist city, Nashville.) The manager gave us great recommendations on fun things to do if you’re not the Beale Street type. Here were some other perks:

Free parking.
Outdoor pool.
Basketball court!
Gym.
FULL KITCHEN in our room!
…oh…did I mention we got all this on Priceline for only $ 60 a night?!

My family and I stayed here for 7 days. The hotel is located approx. 25 minutes from downtown Memphis. The hotel is kept clean. They serve breakfast everymorning from 6am to 9:30am. Social hour starts at 6PM Monday Thru Thursday, nothing special. Every evening they have something different to serve. Its either hot dog, hamburgers or pizza. They also serve draft beer during these times. The room I stayed in didn’t have pots and pans. It kind of defeated the purpose of staying here if your looking to cook meals. They also had an outdated electric stove with two burners and no oven. The front desk staff was very nice. Some of the housekeeping staff had a bit of a attitude problems. The front lobby air condition system didn’t work well. (103 degrees outside). Overall wasn’t worth the $ 150.00 a night charge!!!

A major disappointment.
My company has bonded with Marriott and encourages us to stay there when possible. My loyalty is with the Hilton chain although I don’t mind the Springhill Suites by Marriott. My travel agent suggested this place so I said, «yea, I guess I can give it a shot».
Big mistake! Before I start ragging on this hotel, lets cover the positives. The hotel is located about five minutes from shopping and the restaurants in Collierville so it is conveniently located. The staff is freindly and it has amenities like the free breakfast and the managers reception from Monday to Thursday.
The negatives? Some of the furniture is creaky and stained. The desk chair I am sitting in is ready to be tossed out in the garbage. Beds were old and lumpy. I couldn’t get a wi-​fi signal in my room and had to go to the lobby to use my lap top. Bathroom light and phone didn’t work. Pool water was murky and there was a diaper loaded with poop on the edge of the pool. And finally, the managers reception is supposed to last from 6 to 7:30, they ran out of food (as shitty as it was) about 6:45. All in all, there is no sense of style or class about this place, the only thing that keeps it a level above Super 8 is that the walls aren’t coated cinderblock.
Do yourself a favor, there are nicer places than this so stay there. There’s nothing terrible about this Residence Inn but if you’re traveling, you don’t need the annoyances.

Very nice, clean, spacious hotel rooms, and quiet hotel! Also, there is a free breakfast, too! The only trouble I had was the computer was down in the hotel so I had to walk over to Fairfield to complete my work assignments. Overall, I still give this place 5 stars.
