I’ve received an overwhelming number of responses via PM asking for an alternate source of raw milk… Unfortunately, I don’t have time to respond to each of you. First, please share your experience here you had with them, whether positive or negative. I know from the messages I received that there were some of you had negative experiences. Second, as one of you who had PM’d me mentioned, check out Weston Price Foundation online. They have tons of good info and can point you in the right direction. Thanks everyone for being awesome Unilocalers!

Was a little surprised because I expected a larger place. It was jam packed with freezers containing every cut of meat you can get from a cow. Where else can you get tongue except from your loving companion or long suffering wife. I got liver, butter and the last carton of eggs. Didn’t know you had to order milk two weeks in advance. I really wanted the milk.

I got there to get raw milk, which my wife uses to make the best and healthiest Kefir you have ever tasted. Also the milk on its own is the best milk you have ever tasted — unless you live on a farm of course. They are friendly, accomodating and as a measure of how good the milk is, you normally have to book ahead to get some — especially on the weekend. They also have very high quality meats that have a different flavor to anything store brought. Well worh the trip.

We haven’t tried the raw milk, but we buy our meats exclusively from Dyer Dairy. We’ve tried a number of different places to get high quality meats that are grass fed and healthy, and Dyer Dairy consistently has a pretty decent selection, and the meat and ground beef is so tasty that if I try to get grocery store meat, even organic, it tastes«cheap» to us. While its pricier than the grocery store drek, we were absolutely surprised at how reasonable the price was considering its local, grass fed, no antibiotic meat and considering the quality. If you are looking to shop and suspect it will bankrupt you to go natural, if you take a visit out there I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Although its a bit of a drive to get to them, it’s definitely SO worth it. Raw milk has so many great benefits and finding it ain’t easy! The folks there aren’t the friendliest. Not to say they’re unfriendly. So far they just sit at the counter and either chat amongst themselves or just let you be. Which was a little intimidating at first. Don’t let that scare you off though, the milk is great!

I’ve been a customer for years now, back before the store was built and you just called Aaron up personally and told him what you needed. This is a great family with the best food products in the whole Central Texas area. I have a standing order(highly recommended) and happily go there every other week to buy our milk and many other products. I have tried just about everything in their store that they carry and we are hooked on more and more products from local farms each time. The milk is the best though! My family has never been healthier since we started drinking Dyer Dairy milk!

Now that I’ve gotten more accustomed to going here… I’m loving it even more! I’m starting to know what’s available, and what refridgerators to look in for what, etc. I’ve been learning more about corn-fed animals and the effect it has on our health. Everyone needs to see that movie«King Corn» and read«The Omnivore’s Dilemma»…what a mess this country is in! It’s SONICE to have a place to buy real and healthy food! Grass fed beef, pastured butter, eggs that are the most beautiful things you’ve ever«layed» eyes on(pun intended)… oh, and the raw local honey! I can’t recommend this place enough. I know it is startling and odd to those used to following the pack and not thinking about the genetically-modified junk they are consuming by shopping at their local monopolies. Cheap food will lead to expenses toward your wallet later and most certainly toward the quality of your life. Enough with my rant, but not enough good things to say about this little operation. I am so thrilled to support it! GREAT place!

I wish I could give these folks a hundred stars. I’ve been on their milk pickup list for almost two years now, I go through 2 gallons of their outstanding raw milk every week(*I* do, alone lol) i first started for the health benefits but was hooked by the flavor, and immediately lost over 10 pounds! Growth hormones in reg milk dont agree with me apparently :-) I love their meats, they always have a great selection — try the uncured sliced pork belly. Love their produce when they occasionally have it. I’ve never had a bad cheese from them either. The coffees are great, the eggs are the pinnacle of what an egg should taste like. Their syrups, honeys, and preserves are all recommendable as well. The people who run this place are beyond warm and friendly, they are downright welcoming. With that southern hospitality that’s becoming less and less common. I drive almost an hour round trip every week to enjoy my privilege of getting to shop there. Just fyi they accept cash and checks only, close at 6 pm, and are closed on Wednesday’s.

I grew up on Raw Milk from the teats of Old Betsy and Wanda our Jersey cows on my Great Grand Parent’s East Texas farm so I never liked the taste of pasteurized milk. Raw milk is hard to find unless you have your own Jersey Cow or are a costumer of Dyer Dairy! Be sure and reserve your gallon for pick up because milk production is down due to the drought… Onto reasons why to drink Raw other than the wonderful rich taste of whole raw milk — I LOVE to sip a glass of whole fat milk with a little nutty whole grain added! Raw Milk in it’s full fat natural form has all the good bacteria to digest lactose and has the natural fats to digest fat soluble vitamins! Our Maker did not intend for us to drink Fat Free Pasteurized Homogenized Milk — it is not natural and leads to autoimmune and liver disease… Google it…

With the drought, the cows are a bit ‘on strike’, so their milk production is down. Definitely call ahead if you’re wanting milk, you might get lucky and someone who is on their weekly order list will have not picked theirs up for the week.

My favorite place to shop. I have been buying milk from them for the last few years. i never want to go back to the pasteurized stuff which sometimes gives me a tummy ache; the raw milk never does. Everyone in this family is hard working and dedicated to their animals and products. Not to mention they are a delight to do business with. I wish them continued success. It is worth the drive and it is good to get out of the city on a regular basis and see what it is like in the country. Deborah M.

I’ve been a customer at Dyer Dairy since last fall. I love it! I am scheduled to pick up 2 gallons of raw milk every two weeks(you do have to call ahead to buy it if you’re not on their schedule). This is definitely the best milk I have ever had. Period. I am not a fan of the milk alternatives like rice milk and almond milk etc. BUT I don’t like normal pasteurized milk. Raw milk tastes so much better! The employees in the little dairy shop are great. The products they sell are top notch. If you’re local, you definitely need to try out the milk from Dyer Dairy!

I have known about the benefits of raw milk for quite some time. The state we moved from would only allow sales to people for animal consumption. What a delight to move to Texas and find it legal & to find this dairy. The taste is fantastic. My lactose intolerance disappeared. I now enjoy not only their milk but cheese & Butter too! We purchased some of the grass fed beef sold there. It was wonderful. They have a large selection of Beef, pork and chicken as well. Oh and pick op some of the Organically grown free range eggs. You need to call about a week ahead to reserve your milk. High quality food that will help you and your family stay healthy!

After learning of the substantial health benefits of drinking raw milk, I came across Dyer Dairy, located in Georgetown. The first time I tried the milk, I could not believe how incredible it tasted, and how it made us feel(namely, no more stomach cramps from lactose intolerance because raw milk contains enzymes that assist in the digestion and metabolization of lactose – enzymes that are destroyed during pasteurization). My family and I have since become regular(weekly) customers. Aaron Dyer, the proprietor of the operation, takes a tremendous amount of pride in the product that he sells. His milk is tested monthly by the Texas State Department of Health, and his milk always tests well below stipulated thresholds for bacterial content. I believe this can be attributed to the extremely sterile collection methods he stringently employs, as well as the health of his animals(fed only a natural diet of mostly grass and hay, with no hormones or antibiotics; only healthy animals milked). In addition to having the best milk that I have ever had, Dyer Dairy sells a variety of other terrific items. In fact, Dyer Dairy has just opened a store located on its property that sells raw milk cheese(several varieties, included uncommon ones – delicious), free range eggs(night and day superior over what can be found in the store), and beef(dry-aged 21 days and from Aaron’s herd). The store also currently sells products from other local farming operations such as honey, some produce, various natural syrups, and coffee(breadth of products will be expanding). What’s more, the pricing of Dyer Dairy products is extremely fair. Milk is comparable on a per gallon basis to organic milk sold at the store. Eggs are CHEAPER than free range eggs at the store(and I am not joking, much better). The beef is also very well priced. The cheese is expensive… but it is worth it. Dyer Dairy offers good value on its products and conducts its business with integrity. I highly recommend that you try them.
