Specialties

We have six different types of gyros — Lamb/Beef mix. Beef, Chicken, Bacon & Hummus, Falafel and Feta cheese & Olives. They come in three different sizes, kid’s, regular and giant. As well as gyros we have lots more food options including English style Fish ‘n’ Chips, Burgers and Tenderloins. Our ice cream selection is wide including an awesome Espresso Shake with a variety of flavors such as English Toffee and Brown Sugar Cinammon.

History

Established in 2004.

Alison and Joe Hanover opened A.J.‘s Gyros To Go in Georgetown the summer of 2004. Alison is a native of Liverpool, England and Joe of Georgetown, Indiana. They met on the Island of Crete, Greece where Alison had moved to in 1989 – 1998 and with her brother ran a restaurant. Joe, having joined the U.S. Navy «Seabees» in 1979 – 1999, (BU1 USN Ret.), was stationed there in 1995 – 1998. They have two sons, Alex and Jay; they now live in New Salisbury.

The menu at A.J.‘s reflects their cultures and countries they have enjoyed living in. This diversity offers such items as English style Fish ‘n’ Chips (French Fries) and Greek Gyros, two of the most popular meals. Alison and Joe cut their own French Fries fresh daily, which has proven to be very popular at their store.

Good Food, ice cream. In a nutshell A.J.‘s has something to satisfy everyone, and the Hanover’s look forward to serving you time and time again

Business Owner

Hi, I opened AJ’s in the Summer of 2004 and introduced the gyros in September of that year. I pride myself on using only fresh ingredients and not stinting on the amount of product used. The result is in the tasting! To date I have sold 59,025 gyros so I must be doing something right!
