I would highly recommend this place. I called ahead of time and Kurt was more than happy to answer my questions. He was super friendly over the phone which made me feel comfortable booking a daycare visit for my corgi. When we got there, the place was very nice and clean. Did not overly smell like dog and the dogs had free roam right at the desk. When I brought my Tuck inside he wasn’t afraid and seemed comfortable with Kurt. He even let Tuck play with the other dogs so he wouldn’t be lonely. And you def can’t beat the price! Thanks again Kurt!

Wonderful place for the dog.
My dog has never been kenneled in a cage and this place advertises that friendly dogs will be able to play with others in an open area and followed throw.
The dog was wagging his tail for the three consecutive days that I dropped the dog off.
The place was flexible with its schedule allowing me to drop off and pick up, during its business hours, at my convenience and depending upon my vacation schedule.
Reasonably priced.
Would definitely have this place watch my dog again.

We brought our two dogs with us all the way from south Texas to keep them close by while we were on vacation. The staff at Barks and Recreation were so friendly! Curt seems to genuinely care about the animals. And out of all of the times we have boarded our dogs, no one has ever asked me if I wanted to tell them bye until this trip. I loved that! They also encouraged me to call and check on them anytime. Then when we picked them up, we were so pleased with how soft they were! They looked better than when we had dropped them off! Our littlest dog has never felt so soft!!! The price was also the most reasonable we have ever encountered! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!!!

This is the perfect place to bring your dog for day care when you’ve got a long hike or day of shopping planned. They took great care of our boy – on the second day we dropped him off, he ran for the front door. If we are in Gatlinburg again we will be sure to bring Oscar to Barks & Recreation.

AWESOME! Awesome! AWESOME! Mike took excellent care of our baby! Our Yorkie Grady had a fabulous time (we boarded him for one night). I would recommend them to everyone and would take my dog every time we are in town. Very clean and very nice staff!

We board our senior dog, Hannah, at Barks & Recreation when we go on day hikes in the Smokies. They always provide excellent day care and grooming service for us.
Mike, their manager, went above and beyond for Hannah yesterday. My husband and I were stuck on a mountain during a surprise hail storm. We wouldn’t make it in time to pick up Hannah before closing. Fortunately, we found a cell signal and called Barks & Recreation. Mike understood our situation, made arrangements for us to pick up Hannah after hours, and told us «not to worry about it, and to be safe.»
FYI: There is a fee for a late pickup, but Mike made sure it was reasonable for us.
Barks & Recreation takes great care of their guests, and provides outstanding customer service.

My family and I go to Gatlinburg every October but this year, we weren’t able to leave our two dogs with family. So, after quite a bit of research, we found Barks and Recreation. I admit, I was a bit hesitant. As a New Yorker, I’m used to a website loaded with information, photos, and references. In the end, I could not imagine a better experience. The staff was welcoming, friendly and warm. The building was extremely well-​kept, clean, inviting, and ADORABLE. The staff encouraged us to call to check-​in on our pets or even take them out for the day, if we wanted. Their rates: Unbeatable. They updated their website daily with pictures of our pets with the other pets boarding at the same time. All in all, as a daughter of a veterinarian, I couldn’t be happier with our experience and I couldn’t give them a higher recommendation. We’ll be back!

Before starting with Barks & Recreation I took my dog to a doggie daycare place every morning and after 2 separate incidents (one where my extremely passive dog came home limping and another where she got pink eye) I decided to look into dog walking.
Since it was my first time using a dog walking service I was a bit obnoxious about checking all the references and had a ton of questions at the meet and greet. It’s been 3 months so far and both Ronee and Jamie have been so great with my pit-​mix, Holly. They have been consistently reliable and seem very knowledgeable. I am really happy with the service and have to say it turns out to be a lot cheaper then any of the doggie daycare places I’ve been to :)

My boyfriend Dave is very particular about the care of his golden retriever Blue. He has never kenneled him and will drive hours out of his way to leave him with someone Blue «knows» rather than a stranger.
I have known Ronee and Jamie for years and would trust them with a lot more than my boyfriend’s dog (!) so after a bit of discussion we booked them for the weekend.
The first night of our trip we received a picture text with the caption «Blue says goodnight!» Dave was touched that Blue would send such a thoughtful message and seemed relieved that he was not only alive but comfortable and content.
Blue greeted us happily upon our return but he didn’t seem anxious or in a hurry to leave. And he was exhausted when we returned home which we appreciated since he often doesn’t’ get as much exercise as he needs.
I would highly recommend Ronee and Jaime to any dog owner — even the most «particular.» Dave would happily use them again and I’m sure Blue would happily oblige.
