Beware, this is a scam. There is a nice little website with a nice little old lady and beautiful dogs, and it all looks legitimate, but this is not a reputable breeder. She may not even be breeder or have any dogs! I had a contract with Anita Clark to purchase a black male pup for $ 1600 and sent a deposit for $ 200 when the puppy was born. I planned to come see him when he was 6 weeks, and take him home at 8 – 10 weeks. I live in a different state, so couldn’t come right away. A week after cashing the $ 200 check, Anita Clark wrote me an email demanding $ 650 more for the dog’s ears to be done. This wasn’t in our contract — it clearly states that the remainder of the price is to be paid upon receipt of the puppy. So of course I refused — it started to smell scam-​my. She insisted that she «forgot» to put that into the contract but she «meant to,» so it still counts. Um… She got belligerent and said that since I am such an un-​trusting individual, she wants nothing to do with me and will not sell me a puppy. Of course she is also refusing to return my $ 200. Don’t trust nice websites, go with a reputable AKC breeder who is a member of the Doberman Club of America (needless to say this woman is not.) I am going to do that, lesson learned.
