Our stay was bearable, however this location is not up to typical Hampton Inn standards. ThIs is an older location and in need of renovation. The lobby has been renovated, but that was not the case with the room. Although the bathroom was clean and linens appeared fresh, the bed was pretty firm and the sheets were not soft. We were there during an exceptionally cold weekend. All over the hotel, the heating seemed to be uneven or excessive. The unit in our room was effective, but wouldn’t shut off and on with the temperature setting. Therefore, we had to keep turning it off when we could barely breathe due to the heat. Then we’d have to get up in the middle of the night to turn it back on when the room got cold. The«hot breakfast» was mediocre and pretty sad compared to all the other Hamptons we have visited. Only two hot options were given, instead of the four we usually see. There was no meat offering on Saturday morning. Sunday morning they did have bacon. One observation for those traveling alone– it’s in a fairly isolated location and certain parts of the parking lot were dark. I was glad I was not alone. It’s also worth noting that we couldn’t see the hotel from 42 and there was VERY small signage coming off I-40. The hotel signs are easy to miss without GPS guidance. We are unlikely to stay here again until they renovate.

We stayed at this hotel recently for one night and were disgusted by the state of the rooms. After we were given a room on the ground floor that was damp and smelled of mold, we were given a room on the second floor, which was slightly less damp. However, all paper products(including the note pads, and the sweetener packets) felt damp to the touch; the sweetener could not be poured as the dampness had already gotten to it. Towels, and sheets felt damp and smelled like a cave. Until now, we never had problems with the Hampton brand, so we were quite disappointed. Avoid!

This is a prototypical Hampton Inn located right off Interstate 40. Be careful because you can not see the hotel from NC42 and there is no signage from NC42. Turn right just after the McDonalds(first right off the Interstate) onto a small side street and then go down about ½ mile and you will see the road that the hotel is located on.

It’s a Hampton Inn. The staff is very friendly and nice but its showing its age and is in need of updating. If you need«new» finishes this isn’t for you, if a simple clean hotel is all you need then it’s fine.
