Food was good until I found a piece of wire in the Mac and Cheese. The manager wouldn’t speak with me. Instead they told the employee to tell me they did not know how the wire got in the food. It wasn’t good customer service. They did agree to give me a free side of Mac next time, but I will NOT return.

Long-standing local BBQ shop on Jupiter Road, one of few dining options in this industrial area. Looks like it took over an old Dairy Queen or existing restaurant, both in structure and interior décor. Really could use a cosmetic makeover. Single serving line, almost empty on a Saturday lunch. Had the two-meat dinner plate, brisket and sausage, with sides of baked beans and mac and cheese. Brisket was dry and plain, sausage was fine, but the sides were either out of a can or not far from it. Couldn’t tell if the sauce was house-made or out of a bottle, although it did have just a slight orange citrus taste to it. Came with a limp piece of buttered toast, separate bar for onions, peppers and condiments. Price for the meal was fair but overall it’s just a sad little BBQ place. Could really use some attention to detail if it wants to compete with much better places around NTX.

Great tasting BBQ. Brisket & turkey were awesome along with the sides. I will be back when I’m in Garland. Price is great also.

Good bbq. I got the rib special. It is the Friday and Saturday special. It is beef ribs(I prefer pork) 2 sides, toast, and a drink. Lot of meat on the bones and good flavor. Got a side of the bbq sauce which has great flavor. Looking at other people’s plates at the restaurant almost everyone had the 2 plate meal with brisket and sausage. Or they had the loaded baked potatoe. So I will be trying one of those next time

I am a little hard on BBQ places because I feel that if you are in Texas you should have amazing BBQ. I got the 3 meat plate on my first visit. First off I the ribs were bland, small, and had no flavor. The brisket was very dry and did not have any flavor as well. The sausage was the best meat that I selected. The only way to eat the other meat was with the sauce which was pretty good. The onion rings were ok but you have to eat them as soon as you get them before they get soggy. I got the cheese potatoes since they were out of Mac and cheese and was not impressed either. Maybe I came on a bad day but I won’t be returning. Q

Every time I’m in Garland, I think of this place since they are one of the few BBQ restaurant to serve the amazing loaded baked potato with chopped beef or brisket drizzled in their delicious BBQ sauce. Big enough for two people! If you’re craving for a big-olé BBQ sandwich, try their sausage link sandwich. Very tasty! They have plenty of sides to go with your entrée such as fried okras, fried onion rings, etc. as for dessert, save room for banana pudding and peach cobbler.

Came at end of lunch hour. Obviously a contractor favorite as most clients were in pickup trucks or company logo-ed vans. Ordered combo plate w pork ribs and brisket, sides were broccoli and potatoes au gratin. Let’s start with the meat since this is a BBQ joint. Brisket was dried out, hard and tasteless. Doused in BBQ sauce(okay flavor but a bit bland) but still dry and hard. Pork ribs had a nice burn on the outside, came off bone without falling off but were also dry. Potatoes au gratin was tasteless with only flavoring being the large amount of pepper. The broccoli was the best item, bright green and not over cooked but still devoid of flavor. Might try again at busier time when meat is fresh and hasn’t been sitting g around. To their credit they do have a walk up window for preplaced orders.

Honest to god that was the best bbq meal I have ever had from a bbq place. Ribs we fall off the bone with a great smoke on them. the sides were HOT. Not spicy but HOT. Most places have stuff that is a little above room temp. Will def be back! Also, the price was great! $ 11 for a rib dinner? SOLD

One of my favorite shops to grab a chopped beef sandwich. This place is local to my doctor which is a little far from my house, so I usually pick ricks up when I’m not feeling too well. I love their cheesy potatoes, but they aren’t as creamy as they used to be… They’re a little watered down now I feel. Anyhow, this will always be a favorite of mine. Just brings fond memories of being so close to the house I was raised in.

Rick’s Smoke House BBQ is VERY good! Laid back atmosphere with great prices! I recommend the Super-Baked, Baked Potato with Chopped Beef! Their BBQ sauce is finger licking good! You won’t be disappointed!

Brisket and hot links for lunch today. Cheesy potatoes and BBQ beans rounded out the plate. Sausage was very good with the sides each full of flavor. The brisket however was a bit pedestrian. It was smoked perfectly with a nice smoke ring and some nicely carmelized«burnt» ends mixed about. Unfortunately the flavor didn’t match the appearance. Minimal smoke flavor, a little dry for brisket and could have used a more robust spice rub if any was used at all. The BBQ sauce was a total game saver, so I would certainly give Rick’s another try.

I haven’t been here for at least 6 months now because I work in Irving now, Hard 8BBQ and North Main BBQ is near me. Hard 8BBQ hands down one of the best bbq joint I have eaten at and North Main BBQ $ 15 all you can eat BBQ is a really bang for your buck deal. The ribs at Ricks BBQ is not how in remembered it used to be, it’s more tough and no has no flavor, or I’ve been too spoiled with Hard 8BBQ quality.

I’m reading these reviews and scratching my head. This place is so average that I assumed the BBQ never saw the light of an actual log. I don’t want to sound like a snob but I’m the reigning champion of BBQ at The State Fair of Texas 2012(see my pic for proof) and I’m not saying that I’m an expert but I have a fair idea as to what good BBQ is. Honestly the BBQ and sides at this place could have been from a hospital it was so average and bland. No rub on the brisket or the ribs and everything was overcooked and dry. As to the service when you go through the line… they are total«Honey Badger»(if you get my joke… They don’t give a sh_t) We asked for fatty brisket and if we could get some and the guy did not give a rat’s as_for our request. We made jokes to the cashier and maybe she has a personality or sense of humor but she was in a total daise and was only thinking about when her shift ended. The décor is great. It’s just what you want in an «Old School» BBQ place to look like on the inside but these people working here are total zombies simply going through the motions to get to work, put some bland food out in some catering pans, and served some meat that is quite questionable if it’s actually been smoked with real wood. I suspect that they have an electric oven cooking that meat and they are too lazy to use much of their wood. Furthermore, regarding their wood I checked it out. There’s a bunch of NOT split very seasoned pecan, hackberry, and live oak piled up in the back. My point is that this wood was not split. Someone is going to need to go to the effort of spliting it for them to use it in the smoker/oven…well…I don’t think anyone is taking the time to split it. Anyway…the food was not good, we were not impressed, and Rick needs to wake up and see what places like Lockhart’s and Pecan Lodge are doing. Heck, Rick needs to see what Dickey’s is doing even! BBQ is becoming an art now days and Rick’s dry, bland, un-smokey, fair is not cutting it anymore.

Good B.B.Q…eat here once a week. On wednesdays they have a half chicken special with 2 sides and a drink for like $ 8.00. Sides are hit and miss. nice staff exept for the old guy with the moustache. he may be the owner. He is just an unfriendly prick. so avoid him. he’s also cheap on the servings.

By FAR the best BBQ I have found on this side of town. What makes this BBQ4 stars? The meat is smoked perfectly and nice and moist, but what sets Ricks aside from every other place is the sides. They are wonderful. Every last one of them. They aren’t gross like they have been sitting there all day. They are both fresh and tasty. The CON of Ricks: Only open for Lunch! I would go for dinner at least once a week if they were open. Oh yeah, AND they have a drive through.

Had the chance to take my wife out for lunch the other day. She suggested Rick’s and it was worth the visit. We both had the rib basket. The ribs had twice as much meat on them as I normally see at other places. The sides were good and the price was right. For $ 8.95 I felt that this could have easily been a meal portion. It has all the things a good bbq place should have. It is not a sterile environment and the pitmaster definitely knows his temps. The meat was very tender without being mushy. I will return.

Quick BBQ place across the street that helps Raytheon employees gain weight. It’s cafeteria style, so just go down the line and pick what you want. I like the brisket sandwich here. Some of the sides don’t look as desirable as some of the others, so you’re gonna have to be the judge of that. Definitely inexpensive, and probably a place I’ll visit again.
