Specialties

The Garibaldi House Inn is a 50 room interior corridor lodging facility offering the privacy, security and amenities of a commercial hotel, but with the atmosphere and level of service of a bed and breakfast. It is truly unique.

A glass elevator overlooks our three story lobby with comfortable leather couches and a large fireplace. It is an inviting atmosphere for relaxing with friends, or just socializing with other guests.

Relax in the indoor heated pool, spa or sauna. Exercise in our fitness room. Enjoy complimentary hot coffee, hot chocolate, juice cookies and cucumber water 24 hours a day. Complimentary hot popcorn is available from noon to midnight, and crackers, Tillamook Cheese, and Tillamook Country Smoker Beef sausage are served in the lobby from 3pm to 9pm every day. Complimentary hot appetizers are also served three to four nights per week.

A Complimentary full hot buffet breakfast is served from 5am to 10pm everyday, and can be available earlier if requested.

History

Established in 2010.

Eugene and Carol Tish bought this facility at the end of 2009. They cleaned, refurbished and reopened it as the Garibaldi House Inn. It is an active retirement project for them and truly a labor of love.

Carol does the decorating and flower arrangements, and oversees the laundry and housekeeping, making sure every room is perfect for every guest every time.

Eugene does the cooking (most everything is made from scratch including the pulled pork sliders, clam chowder and other hot appetizers the Inn is becoming famous for). Guest frequently refer to our breakfast as «the best breakfast money can’t buy,» since it is complimentary and available only to our guests. He also spends as much time with the guests as possible, helping them plan their day trips, daily sightseeing and adventures, or making dinner recommendations and/​or reservations.

this place has such great potential. the lobby is lovely with comforts of home. the salami/​cheese/​crackers/​apple slices available in the afternoon are delicious and delightful. coffee and cookies available 24/​7, wonderful. freshly popped popcorn in the afternoon a nice treat. décor is lovely.
when you get down to the breakfast room, everything looks amazing! scrambled eggs plain, scrambled eggs with bacon — yum, you would think. 2 different quiches with veggies. with toppings (guac, sweet salsa, and greek topping). potatoes, sausage, bagels, etc. etc. it’s like dying and going to heaven. until you unwrap and feel/​toast the bagel — SO darn stale, it’s inedible. until you serve and bit into any of the egg dishes, so dry and again, inedible. the sauces help, but there’s no getting way from the dryness. potatoes were cold — at least not tooo dry. everything is gotten ready at 5 am, and we were down around 7:30, so cooking for 2−½ hours… did not help. a real shame.
hindsight is 20⁄20. we would have been better off staying somewhere w/​o breakfast and eating at one of the local good breakfast places…

Solid four stars! We arrived rather late after a long day of driving and visiting state parks and beaches. What a welcome sight this place was.
Our room was well appointed (2 queen beds even though we only paid for 1). The beds were super comfortable and I even used their pillows instead of my own that brought with me from home. I also appreciated the large vanity and mirror in the room separate from the bathroom. My only regret is that we didn’t arrive early enough to try some of the pulled pork sliders others mentioned.
Breakfast was also very good. Loved the Portuguese potatoes, eggs and waffle.

The pictures they show online of the rooms make them look much much larger and updated. We were greatly dissapointed when we walked into our room for the night. For a full bed and a room costing over $ 170 I expected a much larger room and more appealing décor… big bummer. Swimming pool also does not accutately reflect the pictures online. It can only comfortably hold about 3 – 4 people without it being awkward — very small :(The positive thing I will say about this hotel is that our bathroom was clean (although they should be in all hotels, I was afraid it wouldn’t be. so that was nice). You can tell by the toiletries they have out for guests that the hotel is on a budget. Like I said the room was fine, but not anywhere close to the rate we got it for. I guess I am just use to staying in higher quality hotels for that price.

A great little find on the coast! We decided at the last minute to stay over a night, and managed to book a room, sight unseen, easily and inexpensively through the Expedia app.
The Garabaldi House exceeded my expectations at this price point — the rooms were comfortable, an extensive complimentary breakfast was available from 5−10am, the pool was nice (including the complimentary life vests to borrow for little ones!), happy hour snacks in the lobby on arrival, and incredibly friendly, helpful customer service. There are books to borrow above the fireplace in the lobby, puzzles to work on, and even toothbrushes and toothpaste for the unprepared traveler!
The location is very convenient and easy to find, and it’s proximity to the historic railroad is nice. It is right on 101, in the middle of town, so the view from my second floor room was of the Chevron/​Pacific Fuel right across the street. Not the most picturesque, but honestly, we were so comfy inside I wasn’t bothered by the lack of view.
We will definitely use this hotel again!

Watch out for extra charges. I made an online reservation for two, one of many made for a long drive up the coast.
On checkin, they raised the price by $ 10 because there would be TWO PEOPLE in the room. We’ve probably spent over 1000 nights in hotels, and have never heard of anything like this. Sure, a third person, and extra bed, or a pet involves an extra charge. But an extra charge for a couple is a new one.
Also, the wifi has no password! A rarity for a reason, very insecure, don’t enter any passwords or do anything you’d like to keep private.
Décor was nice, room was ok, comfortable, though with noisy AC.
Except for the surprise ripoff on checkin and insecure wifi, they would rate another star.

Well-​used, but extremely hospitable hotel. I would stay here again, hoping that some little things would be fixed next time…
3⁄5 for cleanliness and functionality… the carpet in our room needed to be vacuumed, at the floor boards and under the beds. Curtains were old and torn. The candy machine was broken. Wouldn’t take bills, buttons didn’t respond, then it ate my change… but they refunded me! We still didn’t get any candy though… however, free taffy is sitting out at all times in the lobby!
5⁄5 for hospitality… The owner is actively involved, engages with his customers. Puzzles, books, reading chairs, and piano are some of the features that make it homey. Generous breakfast buffet with potatoes, waffles, homemade eggs, sausage, cereal, baked goods and bread, biscuits and gravy… it’s one of the best breakfast buffets I’ve had at a hotel. Apps of cheese, salami, crackers are out between 3 – 9 pm with cucumber water.

The staff and service here was amazing. Everyone was extremely helpful and our kids loved the pool and free breakfast. If you’re looking for a hotel in a non tourist town I would highly rec the Garibaldi House

This is our second time here and we adore it. The front desk has always been welcoming and helpful. I love how they always put out little snacks and cucumber water. My husband loves the breakfast, I just stay in the comfy bed. My only complaint is that I wish they had a more modern tv but we’ll live. We love the Garibaldi House and can’t wait to come back.

This place has some good amenities. Breakfast in the morning, afternoon snacks, and popcorn at night. But if you’re coming to the Oregon Coast for an ocean/​water view this is not the place. The bed was comfortable, front desk was super friendly and accomdating. Rockaway beach is right up the road so that’s a great place to enjoy the beach!

Nice place. Clean and comfortable throughout. Thought I smelled some kind of food around 4:00 so checked the guest services info in the room and it had nothing about appetizers so, just figured it was a nearby restaurant or something. Only after checking Unilocal did a realize it was appetizers in the lobby.
My other ABSOLUTE pet peeve is when there is no sleep timer on the TV! IT’S A BASIC AMENITY THIS DAY AND AGE! The world goes to sleep with the TV distracting their thoughts that then turns off so you can sleep peacefully!
In summary, a loss of one star for not informing/​inviting guests for evening apps, hot and cold reversed on sink faucet that doesn’t drain properly, non oval toilets, wash towel left on the shower curtain rod by a previous guest, carpet that needs cleaning, and one star for no sleep timer on the TVs. That said, this is an above average place for a coastal town of this small size. Typically, the best I find in towns like this is 30+ year old, refurbished Best Westerns.
I do feel sorry for the homes behind that lost their view of the ocean and now just have people without enough sense to close their curtains to look at in this three story hotel.

Amazing hotel. They offer the guest so much from appies in the evening to a hit breakfast in the morning. Snuggled in a quaint town along the Oregon Coast. Highly recommend this place. Staff is amazing and friendly.

Nice hotel with a friendly staff. The beds were comfortable. They have an excellent hot & cold breakfast buffet which is included with your room price. And not just the regular free breakfast fare, I’m talking the usual stuff AND great additions like Frittatas and build-​your-​own breakfast burritos. Plus they have a snack «happy hour» around 3 or 4 in the afternoon each day. Sometimes it is just a simple cheese, salami and cracker tray (but excellent Tillamook cheese, of course!) and sometimes they go all-​out with Pulled Pork Sliders. Oh, and a popcorn machine in the lobby so you can grab a bag of free popcorn to take back to your room. :-)
They also have a nice little heated pool and hot tub and a small fitness center.
My only disappointment, and it was minor, was they charge you a little extra (I think only like $ 10 per night) if you want a room with a «view.» Yes, you can see the bay/​ocean from the room but it is after you scan across the parking lot, the gas station across the street, the docks and the shrimp processing plant (I posted a pic of the view from our room). So I don’t think it was worth the little bit extra but hey, they are there to run a hotel and I’ve been in hotels with far worse views that charged extra for it.

The hospitality, location and staff are great!
If you’re not familiar with the region, don’t expect to find resorts like those in Southern CA, etc. A lot of boutique properties. This one totally fits the bill. It’s a dated property, so depending on how loud the person above you is, you may hear them every now and then. I think we heard the person upstairs a couple of times when they dropped something. Otherwise it was totally fine. I couldn’t hear his every day activities. I definitely couldn’t hear anything outside.
The location is great and there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. I loved the fact that we had a huge fridge and a microwave. We were able to chill all the bottles of wines (4) that we had bought in the day and have plenty of room for food too! My favorite part is that if you ask the front desk, they’ll let you use a corkscrew and provide you with wine glasses.
I have gluten allergy and the breakfast was PERFECT! There were plenty of gluten free options and they also had gluten free bagels for me.
I definitely recommend this place … especially if you’re looking for a cozy place to stay. A lot of times people hang out in the lobby and the evening snacks are perfect for a nibble.
We really enjoyed our stay and plan on staying here the next time we are in Oregon.

We checked out a lot of the places in the area and, yes we could have had a beachfront room, but we wanted comfort and luxury and we were glad we chose Garibaldi House. The service is 5-​star! The lobby and beds were lovely and look like the photos and the hot tub is divine. Breakfast is plentiful and you must try the waffle makers, too fun! I would give them 5-​stars if they were on the waterfront and the coffee was good but Starbucks is nearby thank goodness. Garibaldi House offers a lot of nice touches to make you feel welcome. We would go back.

I was a little frustrated with breakfast since they were out of eggs and I had to track someone down to get more but on the plus side — they had low sugar syrup for the waffles. Overall breakfast was excellent
When you arrive to a friendly greeting they also have a sampler of cheese and sausage for you to enjoy.

I purchased the Living Social Two Night/​Wine Tasting Deal and was very pleased with everything! Upon arrival at check in the front desk staff was very friendly and attentive. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy, and the perks are endless!
Breakfast Buffet– I travel a lot. I have had a lot of the hotel breakfasts. Generally they are horrible. BUT NOT HERE! The food is actually edible. Not a 5 star restaurant but good– biscuits & gravy, sausage links, waffles, eggs, potatoes, cereal, muffins etc… it was good.
Daily coffee/​cookies, Cheese, Crackers & Salami in the lobby and Fresh popped popcorn. Can’t beat that! AND They also would make a dish each night to snack on (when we were there it was Fresh Fish Cioppino (stew in tomato sauce) which was pretty tasty. Then they had BBQ Pork. Very good considering there is no restaurant on site.
I think this is a fantastic place to getaway to. There are bars across the street and it is close to other beach towns. I definitely want to go back!

This was a lovely place to stay. We got the Living Social deal, and it was definitely worth the price. Great amenities: Full hot and cold breakfast, pool, sauna, and Jacuzzi, a rose and chocolates in the room, snacks in the lobby (they had pulled pork on Saturday night and cheese, crackers, and popcorn both nights) and two full size queens. The staff there was super friendly and helpful, the breakfast was copious, and there was even live music in the lobby when we arrived! Apparently it was the owner’s birthday and her children and grandchildren came to visit. The lobby was very nice looking and they had a cook glass elevator that overlooks the front desk and lobby. When we needed a corkscrew, wineglasses, and a cheese knife, they had it all! Super helpful, kind staff.
The cons: By the end of breakfast time, the eggs were kind of cold and hard, which I guess is hard to avoid considering there was practically no one staying at the hotel, especially on Sunday and Monday. The heater in the pool was broken, as was the ice machine on our floor. And the coffee was awful. I guess we’re a little spoiled being from Portland, but seriously guys, that was bad. Also they didn’t answer the phone at all when we had a hard time finding the place initially. I think part of these issues have to do with it being the off-​season, but I’m callin’ it like I see it.

I have been clutching my Living Social bargain I bought almost a year ago, realizing that if I don’t use it by this May, it expires. Motivated, I finally made reservations and, tah dah, here we finally are.
What a great place for such a tiny town! While the exterior did not impress (kind of boxy modern) the inside is a beautiful hotel/B&B rolled into one. I can assure you, you will not be disappointed if you book here.
Our room is spacious, with two comfortable queen beds, even has a microwave and refrigerator and small dining table and two chairs. There is a hot breakfast in their dining room each morning, and cheese, salami, crackers, popcorn, cookies, and saltwater taffy downstairs in the fireplace room for a scooby snack. Then there is the free wi fi and a small desk to work at. Gotta keep these reviews current ya know.
Our Living Social package included a romance package that included a long stemmed red rose, chocolates, and good smelling spa soaps and lotions in an organza bag and tied up with a bow. This is in addition to the other nice shampoo and soaps already in the room.
This is a great place to unwind. And a great place to explore what the coast has to offer. I highly recommend this place.
