Karin was our dog’s trainer and she’s awesome! We were excited when we found out she’s the new owner. She is doing an amazing job with the place. I love the services! We take our dog here for daycare and grooming. They now have group trainings available. I love this place!

I just love this place. They do an amazing job bathing my dog. They were able to drop the prices on their services (since it went under new ownership) without having to compromise the quality of their work. Happy dog = happy owner!!!

I’m not too sure about the previous owners of Whiskers N’ Tails but currently Karin owns this facility and she is amazing. I have my own pet care business and when I go out of town I always board my dogs with Karin. I feel as if they are as safe as they can possibly be… My dog Blue came to her with some serious anxiety issues and stayed with her for a month and came back a different dog. After that I decided I would use Karin’s services to board my dogs when I go out of town. I have boarded them a few times and every time I was very satisfied with the outcome. She is very experienced in behavioral training and is just an all around amazing person, super friendly and social, very down to earth and honest. I would recommend her services to anyone. Check her out!

Whiskers N’ Tails has a new owner as of June 2015!
The new owner of the facility did a lot of great work for the rescue that I volunteer for. Her training expertise helped us work with some difficult dogs and properly communicate and work with them to find their forever homes. Chicago lost an invaluable asset to the dog community when she relocated to California.
I recently visited California the middle of this month and had to see her new facility myself. As an avid dog lover, owner and rescuer, it exceeded my expectations. I would bring all of my own dogs here myself.
The place is huge, clean, and the staff is super friendly.
They’ve completely renovated the space with new floors, renovated the play areas and so much more.
They’ve recently hired a new groomer as well. She rocked! She even allowed me to observe and answered my many probably annoying questions because I found her job fascinating.
I highly recommend this facility if you are looking for doggie daycare, boarding, and grooming.
If you are in search of a dog trainer that really knows their stuff, look no further. This is where you need to take your dog.

HORRIBLE PLACE! I will never take my dog here again! The worst experience ever!
Service in pet boarding at whiskers n tails has gone South. I begin taking my dog here since 2014 for a few boarding services. Communication skills are lacking, especially on the phone.
Where is the manager when you need them?
Im pissed off, I left my dog for 3 days. I was told one price and when I pick him up I was charge more. I was so mad, first to see my dog supposedly suite with lots of feces and urine. Second for that different amount. Ridiculous?
It is not an issue of a lack of employees as I see enough, they could easily take up simple cleaning and maintenance of the pet areas. Pleased train your staff.
They aren’t pet friendly. The groomer with the short hair was screaming at a maltese dog. Wow «lady close the dam window nobody wants to hear your annoying Shout’s».
Despite all that, my day couldn’t get any worse! I noticed my dog came with surprises, a rash under his arm pit and fleas.
I don’t recommend anyone to take there dog here.

I call 4 days ago for boarding my dog for 3days, the guy on the phone said if I pick up my dog in two days the price will be $ 97, and if I pick him up in 3 days $ 127.keep this in mind, I’ll explain further down.
I just pick up my dog today, after boarding him for 3 days. He looks thin I could see his rib cage. I am extremely disappointed on the service. After letting me in, i walk tours the window and seen my dog in his own king suite full of feces and urine, he was actually sliding on his own urine. No bed no blanket, is this what you call good service. Keep this in mind, «my dog is and inside dog». The young lady that attended me couldn’t put his collar on, I had to put it on him myself. There unorganized, she had to confirmed if the collar n leash was mine. The total of my dog stay she said is $ 156 It shocked me, so I ask why, n she said there charging me for food. But I drop it off when I drop him off. My total came down $ 138 I was very furious .
As I got home I fed my dog, he ate as he hasn’t eating in days.
As i look at my dog sleeping, he is breathing heavily n shacking. Now I have to take him to the vet and spend more money after there stupidity.
What terrible customer service I will never bring my dog here again.
If this business was drowning I will throw them a cinder block!!!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS OR PETS HERE!!!
I initially loved this place and would often get my 3 dogs groomed by Tooty. Unfortunately she no longer works there. I have used every service they offer, so I am speaking from a well rounded perspective. The last several times that I had my dogs groomed I noticed that when I came back to pick them up I would be quoted one price but after asking for a itemized reciept the proce would always change by at least $ 50. No I am NOT exaggeratting either!
To make matters worst, this past super bowl weekend I went out of town and boarded my dogs there for 3 nights. Within 1 week of picking them up all 3 dogs were coughing and choking uncontrollably. After taking them to the vet they were diagnosed with kennel cough. The vet confirmed that my dogs had most likely recieved the cough from the kennel because it is contracted from other dogs. Then when I called to make them aware of the situation one of the workers confirmed that they were boarding a dog that they knew was getting other dogs sick. This cough with the vet visit cost me $ 300.
Unfortunately 2 weeks later I had a vacation planned and paid for so I needed to board my dogs again. This time I was assurred that my dogs would be in their own suite and I made sure to pay extra for it. 24hours into their stay I recieved a phone call from the owner letting me know that I would have to pay extra for them to administer the medicine for the dogs kennel cough. Mind you, the dogs got the cough from their facility. Upon my return I went ahead and paid the fee that they asked but at no time was the owner apologetic nor did she want to speak with me when I returned to discuss this matter. The least she could have done was administered the medication for free.
THE ICING ON THE CAKE: When I came back from vacation my two shitzu’s were worst off than they were when I left. They both developed full blown colds and were so weak they couldn’t barely go for walks to pee nor did they care to eat. The older of my two shitzu’s developed pneumonia and ended up in hospital for 4 days and on respirators. Thank God he is finally back but what started as kennel cough developed into a $ 3875 hospital bill…
So let me say it one more time do NOT take your pets that you love here!!!

I have to revise my review from last year. I’m giving 2 stars because the employee problem continued to persist. The hours were revised on the spot. I dropped off & picked up my dog by the open & close times, but was told that I had to pick him up earlier than the posted time. Then after a day out playing my dog was dirty & in need of a bath. When I brought him in I was told after the bath that he was dirty & I had to pay more. Am I wrong, or is the reason why you bring a dog in for a bath is to have him cleaned?! It was sad leaving because a couple of staff I liked & the place was well priced, but too many issues caused me to take my dog elsewhere.

Had a problem the owner stepped up to fix it — i am impressed!

I dont understand why Unilocal removed my first 5 star review. It was only on for 24 hours, whereas the same 4 bad reviews have remained posted for a year and a half. Whiskers N Tails by far, does the best job of grooming for the money. They are more expensive than my vet, but slightly cheaper than the mobile grooming service that I’ve used. Unlike the other places, when you pick up your pet, you will know that they’ve been groomed! Tuti spent 3 hours on my Maine Coon cat! Whereas, the mobile groomer spent about 15 minutes. Give them the chance, and you will understand why they’ve been voted «the best in the south bay!»

doggie day care review:
everything was going great until i had a bad service from one of the employees. It’s my first time to have a dog and to take a dog to a doggie day care. My officemate referred this place to me (i trust her referrals). But of course, as a dog mom, i still wanted to check it out and give my own judgment. the lady who checked in my dog (around 730am) said i can come in at a later time at 1pm to take a tour. And so 1pm came and i decided to give a courtesy call that i’ll be stopping by. One of the employees (not the lady who helped me earlier) answered my phone call and she was impolite and rude telling me that i can’t come in at the moment and that i should come in at 2pm instead. «this is a business! i can’t stop taking care of 32 dogs just for you! so, you want me to stop whatever i’m doing right now just for your dog???» No one has ever been that rude to me like that (myself being a customer). And when I asked her manager’s name, she gave me the first name but hung up when i asked for her manager’s last name. I was really upset with her.
The reason i gave three stars despite the fact stated above:
The price is very reasonable and the location is very convenient. AND, i came back to check out this place (finally) two weeks after i brought in my dog. it is decent. i spoke to the owner. I told her what happened. she listened and was apologetic. I thought to not let it pass. After all, I don’t want to stop giving them business just because of one bad employee. It’s not fair to those who work hard and who pay due respect to their customers.

We came here last year around Christmastime and we liked the service. Unfortunately this recent experience was horrible. I told the lady that I wanted «The Works» when I came in. We were the only ones there. She told me to fill out a slip of paper, checking off the services I wanted. She was looking something up in the computer and in the middle of filling out the slip she cursed («F**k!») in front of my mother and 8 year old brother and stormed off.
Fine. I’ll shake that off. Let’s continue.
While she was gone I was talking it over with my mom and we saw they changed some package names. We checked off «The Basics» ($ 15)and added a Hot Oil Treatment ($ 20) since my dog has been having some dry skin. «The Extras» package included everything in «The Basics» but I didn’t need his teeth brushed, the decoration «bows» or a trim and style (my dog is a very short haired dog.)
When she came back I noticed that she took the paper and circled another package. I didn’t make a fuss since I thought it was some side note or something. She wouldn’t change my desired package right? She told us we were good to go, but we wanted to ask how much the total was going to be. Unfortunately she was discussing something with another employee so we got a little impatient and left.
Boy, when we came back were we in for a surprise. The total was $ 73 dollars. The told us that they added on a $ 10 charge because they had to hold my dog down while he was getting his nails clipped (he’s a 10 pound tame chihuahua. Really?) When I asked why it was so much the lady told me that «The Extras» was $ 28 dollars. I stopped her right there and kindly told her that I didn’t mark the Extras. She showed me the paper and told me that I had circled it, and after I told her that I saw her circle it she said, «No, I didn’t circle it» start YELLING at me in front of my mom and brother, telling me how she was doing her job and that they have cameras right in front of the register, that she only circled it because I said I wanted «The Works» and that it was the same as «The Extras» etc etc… Yes, we all stood there quietly for a minute as she admitted that she did, indeed, circle the other package.
WOW. Worst customer service experience I have EVER received ANYWHERE. She only lowered her voice after the nice groomer lady from last time calmly told us everything that was done to my pooch. And even then, she started raising her voice again after my mom asked her a question about the price.
$ 28 package (That I didn’t select) +$ 20 hot oil treatment+$ 10 surprise charge + 9.75% tax = $ 63
Where did the other $ 10 come from? To avoid getting yelled at again I paid everything like I told her I would from the beginning. I just never got the price breakdown that I wanted.
Not to mention, when we got home my mom noticed that my dog had little bleeding spots on his back that we’ve never seen. What the heck?
Never going there again. I don’t like to write bad reviews. But this was just too much.

First off I want to say that they get two stars because they are down the street from where I work and also because they were able to bathe my dog within a 2.5 hour time frame.
My negative feedback is based on the work that they do. I can’t say that this was a pleasant experience. This place charges a great deal of money for absolutely nothing. I was in a bit of a hurry to get my dog groomed before the holiday, so I dropped him off expecting to get it done. I asked for a wash and a trim. The pricing said $ 28, when I picked him up, my total was $ 48 because I asked for a trim. A whole $ 20 more? I don’t mind paying the money if they do a good job, but my dogs face looked like an 8 year old cut him with scissors. Not to mention that I paid «extra» for grooming that they didn’t even do. They were supposed to cut his paws and they are just the same as I had left him. They were supposed to trim up his butt and it looks like they put a lawn mower to his backside. My dog is extremely fluffy, so it does not look very attractive. He has a bald spot all down the back side
The icing on the cake was that I paid «extra» for a bow and bandana. I had to REMIND them to put it on just before I picked him up.
I don’t like to write bad reviews, but if you are going to charge me $ 50 for a haircut, you have to do JUST THAT.

How do I begin? My boys are 2 and 12 both 4 legged. I was searching for a place to the «puppy» then about one year as he and my12 year old were not getting along due to the pups energy. I brought Clifford, yes he is big and yes he is red, for a temperment test and he passed with flying colors. The owner was there that day and suggested he stay for a couple of hours to play. He did and we were sold. He and my older dog, Rockie, have gotten along ever since.
Since Cliffie got along so well I decided to try Rockie, he has had issues with other dogs so I was a bit nervous. I dropped him off and received a call from Dee, one of the best workers there, that I had sadly underestimated my boy. HE WAS PLAYING WITH OTHER DOGS. He has been going ever since and he LOVES it. Dee it’s all because of you that Rockie is doing so well.
I am a very picky dog owner. I call and check to see how my boys are. I am so happy with the service. My dog trainer even recommends them due to the 3 dogs that have been going there due to my recommendation. I cannot recommend them enough.
Dee and Lisa open in the mornings and are always friendly and willing to accomodate you. Virginia, the owner, is very concerned and always takes time to chat with you. When my boys have been injured or ill (not due to day care) I receive texts and emails.
My Cliffie has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia so cannot play like he wants and Dee makes sure that he has some quiet time so he can rest and not be in pain the next day. They are the BEST give them a try tell them Faith sent you.

I have been using Whiskers for about 6 months now and each and every time I get Billy Dee back he’s exhausted from his play day. The grooming is excellent and the staff always remembers us.

My dog LOVES Whiskers N Tails! I was really nervous about leaving him the very first time, but he was happy as a clam and tired from playing with the other dogs when I came back to get him. He LOVES to play, so this was great that he got to run around and get tired!
The second time I brought him back, as soon as he figured out where we were… he got very excited and was happy to be back!
The staff is very friendly and remembered my dog the second time I came back. And when I was running a few minutes late to drop him off after closing, she stayed late just for me!
The grooming was great as well! Since my dog spent several days playing with the other dogs, I had him groomed at the end of his stay and he looked and smelled great when I brought him home!

Whiskers N’ Tails is my go to for all my grooming and boarding needs. My dog gets groomed there about once a month, and on occasion has stayed for boarding and day care.
Grooming: EXCELLENT! No matter who grooms my dog she always come out looking great! She’s a Maltese mix and her cut is always excellent. The groomers have really gotten to know her and really care about her.
DayCare: I love their day car, she get to play with small dogs (she is a little fearful of big dogs) so I really appreciate her being able to stay with small dogs. I have watched from the window as people play with all the dogs, and my dog LOVES to play fetch as well as get her belly rubbed. She loves visiting the shop and hanging out with her doggy friends.
Boarding: They do require you to verify that your dog has all their shots, which I appreciate. I have used their service several times for boarding and my dog adjusts very well to being there and transitioning to being back home. She also come home exhausted which after a long trip I appreciate. :)
Facility/​Staff: Every time I have visited Whiskers N’ Tails it is always clean and the people at the front desk are always helpful. They have a nice selection of dog accessories and treats.

This is the worst place in the area. Not only do they neglect the pets, they fraudulently charge your credit cards. I had to drop off my kitties because there was a family emergency in another state. I was delayed a couple of days and all hell broke loose. I was called and threatened by a woman called the «manager» of the kennel. She threatened to take my cats to a rescue unless I came and got them– for 3 times more than the agreed price! For the next couple of days, I was threatened, yelled at, and insulted by this woman and the groomer who works there. I paid for the cats with my credit card and they felt it necessary to charge my card $ 150.00 more than I signed for. (Still waiting to be reimbursed by the credit card company) I called to ask why & was greeted by swearing, insults, etc.
Not only are the billing charges questionable, so are the facilities. The staff seem more interested in getting high (take a good whiff when you come in– that isn’t catnip) and ignoring the pets than taking care of them. I dropped them off with a full huge bag of food & litter, only to be told when i left that they were keeping it «for their trouble», not to mention that my cats were traumatized by the whole experience. I don’t know what happened, but it wasn’t good.
This is by far the worst place ever for pets. If you can, go to a vet or reputable kennel. This isn’t it.
