Smart & Final

I like going to Smart & Final for certain bulk items because I am not a member of Costo or Sam’s Club. However, it seems that most of the stores have low stock. Circulars come out and before the sales start, shelves already seem bare. Customer service is very helpful here, and that is a plus. There’s also a decent produce section.

I want to love this store, but they continue to lose my confidence in their products. I do think they have occasional deals that are unbeatable. But, be careful purchasing meats. I purchased ribs and found out that the «use by/​freeze by» date on the package was 2 months prior to the date that I purchased it!?! Might not be a problem, but I’m not taking that chance. I need to inform every friend that also made the same purchase this weekend. Ugh, check those dates!
While returning the ribs, I tried to get an explanation of this date on the package… no luck. I guess I will continue to buy from this store, but not in the meat dept!

I dread the lines here.
There’s ALWAYS that one person who has a million and one items holding the line up, and there’s only 2 lines open. All of the times I’ve been here there’s ONLY 2 lines open. Uuuugh!!!
The ONLY reason why I come to this location is because they sell the variety box of Sun Chips. My kids love those. If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t come to this location.
On the plus side, the women’s bathroom has 5 stalls and is very clean. Seems as if there’s more stalls than staff. There can’t possibly be that many customers using the bathroom at the same time because if you do, you’ll return to a long line… hahaha!
Maybe they should downsize the bathroom and add another register. LoL

Today 4÷25÷15 Saturday 10:54am, came to Smart and Final for one box of sandwich bags which came to $ 13.07. Two register lines open, a customer in each line, one register was assisting a customer with checking out but also deducting items at the same time because the customer didn’t have enough money to pay for what she wanted. The other register was a quick case of beer, chips and some other item (easy choice) I stood behind the easy ring up. The cashier rang up the gentleman and apparently had a mishap with the correct input of change in the register and needed a few more cents from the gentleman, he questioned it and even informed her of what change he left. What ever the outcome her register locked up and she called for help. In the meantime another customer began unload her groceries onto the check out belt (no problem). The cashier took my one item and asked the cashier who was assisting with the checkout/​refund customer to ring up my one item who immediately responded yes but she may be a while.
She was a while and then locked up herself and called for assistance.
The person in charge came by and unlocked her register and asked if I can go back to the original register of where I started, sure. As soon as I got back to the original register, the cashier began to ring up the customer who was behind me from the get go who wasn’t taken to the other register. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ALL THE WAY AROUND!

Not enough Checkers for the volume of customers this store services! (1 cashier)
Asst. Mgr. «Mark» is apparently too young and inexperienced to know what he’s doing.
He made the sole cashier leave her register to replace a customers cracked eggs!
Can you say «UNDERSTAFFED» Boy’s & Girls?

i have a really bad experience where I was discriminated against for being Mexican and not have a california id. Elena the cashier was really racist and the most funny part she it’s Mexican too I think she it’s American but her and her family are so Mexican it’s so weird when that happens she being racist with her race wtf,

The only have two complaints; long lines and very small selection.
I come here a lot and every time I come there’s only one checker and ten people in line. They need to hire more people or train the other people to work the cash registers.
I wish they would stock up their health and beauty aisle because they never have gel, cotton swabs, or even baby oil. What the heck?!

great savings here! they sell bulk of some food items here and it will save you a lot of money. this is a great place to shop for your family and also if you need some candy for fundraising. this location is by my house and it’s never crowded. parking is not a problem either! i suggest you come here it’s free and you don’t need a membership unlike costco!

I usually stick to Long Beach but being that I was by my mom’s house, I decided to try this Smart & Final out. I needed to pick up some snack for work, because at our dental office we provide all those types of goodies :)
Stopped in, they were fully stocked and everything was very easy to locate, the lines were very short and moving very efficiently, the cashier she was very polite to everyone. Loved this location, will stop here for our snacks from now on :)

Not that bad of a place.
I came here and was in and out fairly quickly.
Everything was easy to find and I don’t think there were any other complaints on my part.

What makes this place work for me is the parking lot. They have tons of parking in front and in the rear.
What doesn’t work for me is there fresh food selection. Most Smart and Final stores have more varitey than this one. Maybe it is all in my head, but I just can’t find what I’m looking for here. If I want a tray of cheese and a tray of salami, I should have more than one option. I swear other stores have more. Maybe not. It still doesn’t change the fact that I don’t like this part of the store.
Apart from that, this one is the same as the rest of the chain. The checkout people are always pleasant. I don’t have to go off-​roading with my cart in the parking lot.
