Soooo good. Chashu was very tender and good and so was the broth! The noodles were yummy and everything is just perfect not too salty. Also try the gyoza!!! I will be coming back for sure !

They have good food. They can be a little bit slow some times but their food is overall good. I would recommend the miso ramen. The fried rice. The pork Katsu curry and the karaage.

The ramen is so good. But the service is kind of slow. I wouldn’t come here if i was extremely hungry. You would be waiting for a little while. Also the curry is soooo good. Love this place and has a reasonable price. Actually it’s pretty cheap! Quick and great place to fill you up.

This place is great, its tiny and intimate, yet loud and fun. Service was awesome and food is amazing. Definitely a must try.

Visited here again and found a new menu. Now Ramen Shack has Jiro Ramen that comes with a load of vegetables and chashu. It was extremely stuffing and satisfying. My friends at the table were all impressed by this huge bowl. It took a while to dig and eat up the pile of the savory chashu and vegetables to reach ramen noodles. The noodle was thicker than other ramen dishes. This thick noodle was suitable for this hearthy dish. Other friends had spicy miso and miso chashu ramen. All ate up most of the soup and ramen which is the good sign that we all enjoyed. :) Another happy ending dinner experience!

Pretty disappointed with the reviews and rating for this place. With so many amazing ramen places around the area, I chose this one only to be let down. Me and my husband ordered the tonkatsu jiro ramen. It looked mouth watering on the pictures. He got level 3 spicy and I got the white base. For the price, I expected it to be amazing and filling. The bowls came out, impressive like the pictures on Unilocal. However, the middle of the tower is basically a whole bag of bean sprouts and the pork is thin sliced and wasnt juicy at all. The soup was really oily and the flavor was ok. There was also very little noodles in the bowl. So sad. This place was really nothing special. Nice presentation but lacking in taste and quality.

From the outside you wouldn’t think much of it, but this is a hidden gem in a sea of sub par ramen joints . Fantastic ramen, and amazing sides as well. Can’t wait to go back :)

Gah! I’m torn between 4 and 5 stars here!!! I went with 5 obviously, but it’s not quite the best of the best. But it’s really good!!! My husband and I saw this place open up and we had been meaning to try it for a while. What a good find!!! We went on a Saturday night around 8pm and were promptly seated. They place was full but not packed. Friendly staff and fairly quick service. I ordered the Tonkotsu Spicy Miso Ramen, Level 2. One the side, I ordered Green onion, corn and tofu! I looooove that they offer tofu! The tofu is silken, the perfect complement for ramen! The broth is flavorful.(I learned I needed to step up to a level 3 next time in spice though.) We also got a combo with 3 pcs of gyoza and chahan fried rice.(The rice and gyoza were pretty good. but I prefer ShensenGumi’s) But I miiight like this places ramen better. Thin noodles and I like how spicy I can make it! Plus the price for additional toppings are much more reasonably priced than ShensenGumi. It’s a different experience than Shensengumi so we will continue to go to both. Good for when we are staving and can’t stand the wait at Shensengumi. I can’t wait to go back. I’m craving it now!!!

I’ve been traveling to Japan at least once a year but dream of eating the«Jiro-ramen» is a dream yet to be fulfilled. I am not a Jirorian by any means but I am aware of the strong fan base in Japan and jiro ramen certainly deserves a huge respect. So what did I think of the Jiro style ramen here? It’s okay, could be much better. I will go into details later. But first, I want to bring up the point that there is another restaurant in South Bay that offers Jiro-style ramen. I think their Jiro-style ramen is much better that what is offered here. Jiro-ramen should be the ultimate bad boy of ramen! Oily, salty, fatty, lots of garlic, etc. What’s wrong with the Jiro-style ramen here? 1. Tonkotsu Broth is too creamy and lacks the junk taste. 2. I don’t know if they flash boil the bean sprouts prior to adding it to the bowl but excess moisture seems to dilute the ramen broth giving the broth watered down taste. 3. Chashu should be more fatty and melt in the mouth soft(some chashu pieces I received were overcooked and dry.) 4. Were there garlics in there? If so I didn’t taste any of it. 5. I felt there were not enough noodles in the bowl. Did I just pay $ 13 for couple of slices of chashu with beat sprouts in the pork broth?

Pleasantly happy with my experience at the Shack. The spicy tonkatsu chasu ramen was very satisfying and the perfect balance of salt and flavor. The beef broth was creamy and flavorful. I’m very glad I decided on the spicy version because it added another dimension as tonkatusu broths tend to be very one noted. I went with the level 1 spice and found it be perfect for me. The noddles normally come thin, but I despise thin noddles, so requested for the thicker noodles at an additional $ 1 charge. The tender chasu comes in either 6 or 9 pieces, but are thinly sliced. They have appetizer add ons for $ 3 when you order a bowl of ramen. We chose the karaage and fried rice, and also ordered some gyoza. Karaage was excellent, but the fried rice and gyoza were just okay. I would recommend skipping on the gyoza.

When I saw the outside of this place I was like are you serious? Doesn’t look like much. Boy was I wrong! I got the tonkotsu white ramen(please take note that it’s tonkOtsu and not tonkAtsu. Personal pet peeve). I put my spoon into the bowl and the soup kind of jiggled. The broth is so rich and fatty and creamy it’s unbelievable. Better broth than daikokuya! The noodles were also done perfectly. My only complaint is that they don’t serve it with a soft boiled egg or with bean sprouts(which personally I don’t mind because I don’t like bean sprouts, but traditionally ramen should have it). So I would give this place a 4.5 stars, but everything else blew me away, and I’m pretty sure you could ask for an egg for additional cost. The service was also great too! Will definitely be back again. Mmm!

I was anxious to try Ramen Shack after reading so many positive Unilocal reviews. I had high expectations and was a little disappointed tonight. I had the tonkatsu salt ramen combination, which came with a side order of karaage and curry over rice. The curry was good, but the ramen broth didn’t have much flavor, nor did the chicken. The chicken was nicely fried and was moist, but that was about it. There wasn’t a choice of noodles, and this one came with thin noodles. My husband had the tonkatsu miso ramen, which had a better tasting broth than the tonkatsu salt. It had a lot of beansprouts, which we’re not too crazy about. This one had medium sized ramen noodles, which I would recommend over the thin noodles. Comparing this restaurant to Ramen Yamadaya in Torrance, Ramen Shack has more comfortable seating, and the waitress is very pleasant. Yamadaya also offers combinations, but their broths are better tasting and you have a choice of thick or thin noodles. I also think the pork is more tender at Yamadaya. Ramen Shack takes credit cards; Yamadaya is cash only. If you have never been to Yamadaya, you might like Ramen Shack just fine.

Its a Ramen place and we didn’t try the Ramen! However, we tried their curry and their bento box and it was all good. We saw people on our neighboring tables enjoying huge bowls of Ramen! It made me a little sad that I didn’t order some for myself. Nevertheless, I was extremely pleased with my Curry. Here customers get to pick topping for the curry, such as eggs, spinach, chicken, etc. My granddaughter order the bento box — let me say… it was enough for two people. Needless to say, we took most of it home. It came with miso soup, salad, rice and the main dish(10 dumplings). Its really to bad that this little place is so far from home for me. Its easy parking. Its quick service. It has reasonable prices. Its clean. And most important — the food is good. However, whenever in the area I will be coming here.

I would say more like 3.5 stars. Came here because Shen Sen Gumi was super packed. This place is a small shack that was a little hard to find, we turned into the plaza before this one and walked around the plaza before we realized it was the next plaza over, silly us! Service was friendly and prompt but it wasn’t super busy on a Saturday night at 7pm. We got the spicy tonkatsu(I think!) and regular tonkatsu. I didn’t really like my ramen(the spicy one) because I felt the spice over powered the creaminess. It was very okay to me. My boyfriend got the regular one and I tasted his broth and it was definitely creamier & more pork flavored than mine. He really liked his! We also got the karage chicken which was good but nothing that stood out too much. Prices were reasonable, typical for any ramen place ! :)

It’s a small restaurant located in a little plaza. We came here around 830 pm and they informed us that they ran out of two or three of the ramen entrees. I was surprised because I’ve never had a place run out before. I had the tonkatsu spicy ramen with an added egg. The broth was good but standard. The noodles were the thin ones and I prefer the thick ones. My friend had the miso ramen and hers had the thick ones. I wish I knew so I could have ordered thick noodles with mine. We added an egg to our ramen and it came out on the side and overcooked. It’s suppose to be soft boiled but was more like hard boiled. I was excited to try this place and it was decent, but I was expecting wow.

So many ramen places within a mile of this area, but this is one I’d definitely look into trying! This place is about 3 blocks from Shinsengumi and right after the Tozai plaza. I stumbled upon a picture of a chashu beast while searching for food and instantly bookmarked this. When I arrived I knew my order. Jiro Spicy ramen lvl 2 combo was the choice! ($ 13) Jiro-10 pieces of chashu, been sprouts and cabbage.($ 4) Fried rice and 3 piece karaage. I now know I can split this with someone else. This was toooo much food. Ramen wasn’t as spicy as I liked, but good level nonetheless. Nothing stood out as far as the broth and if it wasn’t for the chashu and veggie it would be just mediocre. Noodles for my option were somewhat thick, my friend who ordered the same but different broth got thin which I preferred. Chashu was delicious! 10 pieces = overload. Fried rice and karaage, solid and it did the job. I came right before they closed lunch so we were immediately sat and served. Note that they close between 3 and 5:30! Ramen wise I’ll say it wasn’t the best I’ve had. I prefer Yamadaya as each visit there the bowl goes empty. Granted the portion was HUGE here, but the noodles and broth weren’t good enough to risk blowing the buttons off my pants. Edit: 2nd time, dinner around 8pm. Not a lot of people. Ordered regular salt base ramen w/10 pieces of chashu, karaage and fried rice again. Ate and drank to the end. Couldn’t get enough of the food and soup. Didn’t feel bloated like last time because there wasn’t a ridiculous pile of bean sprouts! Give this place a shot when the chashu craving comes or when Shinsengumi has a ridiculous wait. Card accepted! Unlike Yamadaya… My new go to ramen spot. Hands down.

If you are here then you must must get the Tonkotsu Chashu Ramen! This was bombastic. After I had placed the order I totally forgot to add extra toppings but boy oh boy it didn’t matter because it was that good. Of course, if I do return I’d have to add me some bamboo shoots and seasoned egg but these missing pieces did not detract from the deliciousness. You also get a nice generous portion of chashu unlike some other ramen places here in Torrance. They also have the Tonkotsu Jiru which is the most expensive on their pork broth menu but comes with slightly more ingredients. This is alright if you’re looking for thicker noodles(similar to the size and taste udon) and a boat load bean sprouts. These however, end up watering the base of the ramen quite a bit so prepare for a slight degrade to your broth. Overall, my experience here has been phenomenal and I look forward to coming back! Watch out Shinsengumi, a promising competition has arrived!

Decent! This place is definitely shadowed by the neighboring ramen place, shinsengumi! Its much smaller and very plain with décor but it’s still very homey. Only one server who doubled as a hostess so it much be extremely slow(sad because it’s the holidays). Their menu is decently big and I love how they have different types of ramen broths and even foods like bentos and hamburger steaks and curry! Ordered the miso ramen and their reg 5pc gyoza with some hot tea. I love how they serve tea in a mini teapot and not just a cup so you can steep it to your liking(I like my tea super bitter so it works for me!). Soup was very delicious but I will say that there was WAY too much bean sprouts in the soup. A little is fine but it was a bit overkill trying to eat all of it. Gyoza tasted wonderful as well though I’d wish it had a bit more of a crunch. Overall service was just ok, I understand it’s slow, but one lady can’t do everything!

Normally I would think twice before I visit a new ramen shop because it still need to work out the kinks, but my one of my coworkers strongly recommended Ramen Shack Takumiya(it was so good that my coworker said something about not visiting Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata Ramen in Gardena again). So this week I finally decided to give this place a try. Location: Ramen Shack Takumiya is located in this tiny plaza right next to the Tozai plaza in Gardena(where Boiling Point & Honeymee & Furaibo are located). There’s a small private parking lot right in front of the restaurant, but I didn’t know at the time and parked in the Tozai plaza instead(not recommended). «Pre-Opening» Menu: Tonkotsu ramen(white [salt base], black [soy sauce base], spicy, miso, and spicy miso), tonkotsu chashu ramen(10 pieces of chashu), tonkotsu Jiro ramen(10 pieces of chachu + bean sprout + cabbage), tsukemen, chicken broth ramen, appetizers(e.g. various gyoza, takoyaki, chicken karrage, etc), bento boxes, rice and bowls, teppan hamburg, and curry. You can pay a little bit more(from $ 2.99 to $ 6.50) for ramen combination. *** Tonkotsu Jiro Ramen(Chashu 10 pieces, bean sprout, cabbage — black, $ 13.50): 10 pieces of cold, but somewhat decent, chashu with a HUGE pile of bean sprouts and cabbages. Oh no … my ramen nightmare started to come back again … the awful ramen I had at Tsujita Annex — it was the exactly the same style of ramen(Jiro-style ramen = bean sprouts and cabbage toppings). Broth tasted on the lighter side(not as heavy as other broths I’ve tried in SoCal) and yellow wavy noodle tasted more firm than soft. The portion was REALLY, REALLYHUGE — approximately 1.5 to 2 times bigger than Shin-Sen-Gumi’s portion. Heck, I had to box half of ramen bowl back home. [3.5/5] Ramen Combination: 3 pieces Karaage + Curry Bowl($ 4.50): I was very impressed with their curry bowl and it reminded me of curry I’ve had from Coco Ichibanya — a very delicious beef flavored curry. Chicken karaage tasted juicy and had a good texture, but they were not very flavorful and tasted pretty plain. [4.5/5 for curry, 3.75÷5 for karaage] *** Jiro ramen is just not my cup of tea, but I highly recommend their ramen combination because you’ll get to try a little bit of everything. If I am coming back here again, then I would order any other ramen EXCEPT jiro ramen, order a ramen combination, and give their hamburg a try(for curiosity reason).

Sorry for the lame blurry photos. I am happy we took a chance and tried this new ramen spot. If you are familiar with this area, there are a bunch of different ramen places to choose from, and sometimes it’s a hit or miss. This place is a hit, and I’m sure in the coming weeks/months people will catch on and parking will be a nightmare. We came in on a Friday night around 7 and the place was packed. We sat along the wall staring at each other and the blank wall. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen white aka salt based and he ordered the chasu tonkotsu white aka more meat and salt based. We made a wise choice and only made of one our orders a combo. We got the karaage and fried rice. The fried rice was pretty good, it had the nice charred taste, but not overdone or mushy. The karaage was pretty standard, the menu says you will get 3 pieces… we got 4. Yayur. To the star of the show – the ramen. The broth was fatty and delicious, very similar to Yamadaya’s kotteri ramen. The chasu was soft and the noodles were the small strands of noodles that I am fond of instead of the fat spaghetti-like noodles. Expect a bowl of reasonably priced, tummy warming, artery clogging, no frills ramen. What more can you ask for… maybe a soft boiled egg to go with it(they only have hardboiled *sad*).
