My homegirl took me here for lunch(shout out to you Kimesha:) and I loved it. The waitress was friendly and the food was on point. You have a choice of chicken fried in flour or with the golden bird batter. Also have a choice of corn muffins or a biscuit I got the biscuit and OMG it was one of the best I’d ever had. I had a fried Chicken breast(friend in flour) mac and cheese and cornbread stuffing with gravy with a biscuit and a homemade Arnold Palmer. The cook came out and talked with us when we were almost done and he was a nice black man, note worthy because in the most soul food places I go now there is no soul face to go with the soul food. I plan on going back and taking my parents and my sisters. * They are also a nonproft, they give free lunches to low income children and they run a sober living house, so you are doing good when you eat there.

I ordered fried pork chops with string beans macaroni and cheese and yams. The string beans were very good and the yams were also good, now the macaroni and cheese and pork chops was a different story. The porkchops had wayyyyy too much pepper and the macaroni and cheese stuck together like glue. I had a tough time pulling the noodles apart so that I can eat it but strangely the Mac & cheese had a flavor was decent. Not sure if I will go back. And I shod add there was a lot of people in the kitchen, the staff I encountered was not very friendly.

Came for breakfast on Saturday and loved it! They have $ 5 special with 4 items choice of things like pancakes, home made biscuits(AMAZING), eggs, grits, bacon, sausage and more. We ordered catfish and eggs for like $ 9 and the catfish is GREAT! Ask for Cajun seasoning on the fish. We need to come back for dinner because it was so good. Only breakfast on Saturday, which is sad because we would come here any day for breakfast!

Golden Bird where are you? It might say Golden Bird on their billboard and it did look like it too, but it did not taste like one. I love Golden Bird Fried Chicken. One of the best I’ve ever tasted. The one in Compton changed its name to Honey’s Kettle(but kept the recipe), but it closed and moved to Culver City. Boo. So now I’ve been looking high and low for another one. I found this one by mistake. The restaurants name is Dare U to Care Grill(DUTC), but their menu is Golden Bird. Yay, I found one. The euphoria was short lived. I came with my co-worker(a Golden Bird aficionado) hoping to relive the past. But it was not meant to be. We got old fried chicken that was re-fried. The outside was crunchy, but the inside was super dry(over cooked). The biscuit was also a disappointment. Instead of buttery, flaky biscuit, we got the dry, not very good kind. The best part of the meal was the Arnold Palmer we got. The best AP I’ve drank. lol I have to say, they tried their very best to give us good service. They were very kind and friendly, but running out of straws was a head shaker for me. What turned this review from a 3 to a 2 star review was the cockroach I saw. As my co-worker was paying the bill and talking to one of the worker, a cockroach crawled on the floor between the openings in the counter. You know what they say, if there is one, there’s probably a lot more. Eww. Sadly I can not recommend this place. The worker’s are nice, but it’s not the Golden Bird I remember. 2015 Review #31

So let me start by reviewing the meal that I had. I ordered a 3 piece chicken meal, which included one side, biscuit and drink. The chicken was good as always, the breasts were very large(sorry that I’m perverted lol) and filling. The biscuit was ok, I have tasted better from Popye’s. I would rate the meal about 3 out of five stars… now my complaint about the DUTC grill, is that the menu is very confusing. I found myself have to reread the menu over and over, and struggled to find the best deals out of the sea of options it has written on it… a simple dry erase board with specials written on it could solve this problem. The place is also very gloomy. The décor has a lack of excitement, and it just doesn’t feel very welcoming. There is no gift shop as it advertises. I love Dare U To Care(The rehab the grill is named after, because I graduated from there)…but the Grill itself can definitely use a second breath of life.

I have driven past here so many times. Never seen this place to be quite honest and stumbled upon it thanks to Unilocal.I wanted mac and cheese and this place came up. I got in, ordered a combo that came with 2 pieces of chicken of your choice, a side, a biscuit, and a drink. Price was great! Food was amazing. A little sad because I really wanted a biscuit(I stuff mac and cheese in biscuits) and they didn’t put it in the bag :(However, their food was delicious. Never again will I eat chicken at a chain place. Their mac and cheese is to die for. My mouth is watering and I just finished it about 10 mins ago. Their chicken is huge! Plenty of food. One more thing! They give back to the community. They help people get back on their feet according to the newspapers on the wall. I will come back and give you your 5th star when I try the biscuits. I’ll be back soon!

This is maybe my 6th visit to this eatery within the last 3 ½ yrs. I try to visit when I’m in the area. I called this past friday Vday to order the chicken dinner w three sides and some peach cobbler. I asked what the time frame for pick up would be and was given 15 minutes. I arrived right about 17 minutes after my call and well well well the food order was not ready. The cashier was very nice and friendly. She kindly apologized that they just got a full load of calls and walk in orders so my order would be ready in a few minutes. Well 20 minutes later the order was ready. The food was good, the fried chicken I remember being better on my last order. I couldn’t have my peach cobler until later on because its given to you cold from the freezer in a small plastic container. I think next time I will place my order wait 40 minutes then head over for my pick up. Dont get me wrong, the place has good food they just need more help in the kitchen. The cashier was very pleasant, patient and nice which helps you accept the fact that the kitchen employees can’t keep up with the orders. I may have to stick w my hometown belizean food from Traceys or Mars Carribean when I need the soul food fix from now on.

Just ordered 4 breasts/mash-gravy/mac-cheese/peach cobbler for our SuperBowl party — gotta say…“the absolute best fried chicken in SoCal… hands down… period!!!” Humongous BREASTS… never in my life have I ever seen any other chicken establishment serve breasts the size of the ones at DUTC Grill… they’re huge… and SOVERYDELICIOUS!!! We also had family visiting last Sept. from Fl.(who LOVE fried chicken)…I offered to bring dinner home from DUTC, but everyone wanted to eat at the restaurant. We had the entire dining room to ourselves and we where treated like royalty. The service and food(chicken, mac n cheese, mash/gravy, biscuits and peach cobbler) was impeccable… the four of us left absolutely stuffed(with left overs to go)…again, thank you DUTC Grill for the delicious dining experience… bravo!!!

My friends(3 + me) took me here before my trip overseas. Last American meal before I get overwhelmed with Asian food. We came on a Thursday around 5pm, so it was relatively empty. My experience with restaurants is that when it’s that empty, food usually dont taste that good. However, this was not the case. The food took a while, but it was well worth the wait. We got the 8 pc chicken meal and it was HUGE. I grabbed the chicken breast, and it was delish. The white meal was juicy and skin was crunchy. I had 2 pcs w/sides before I started tapping out from being stuffed. Definitely order less than what you think you can eat, or prepare to take it home :) For the side dishes, we ordered fries, mac and cheese. They were good and I’d order them again, but it’s nothing to really write home about. It tastes pretty similar to any other Mn’C and fries. The biscuits were AMAZING though. They were one of the best I’ve had. Service was fantastic as well. Even though we were the only ones there, it wasnt awkward when we talked, laughed, etc. Definitely feels like a homely place. Will definitely visit again if I am in the area, accidentally or intentionally.

I’ve seen this restaurant changed so much for the past five years! Dare U Too Care Grill use to have a chef who made their chicken so BOMB and perfect but recent visit was not the same :/chicken got so much smaller and had a different texture. Staff wise; everyone was very friendly and welcoming! :)

I don’t think you can say that you’ve had fried chicken until you’ve tried Dare U Too Care Grill(DUTCG). The chicken was tender and juicy. The flavor was absolutely perfect. I rolled in here after my visit to Smokin Johnny’s BBQ down the street. My baby daddy came in here by accident thinking that I had instructed him to meet me here. After he told me about it, I had to peek in being the true Unilocaler that I am. DUTCG has a large dining area. I ordered two chicken pieces for $ 4.95. They were large drum sticks that came with pickles and hot sauce. The batter was flawless and the chicken was flawlessly executed.

I still remember the first time my cousin introduced me to DUTC Grill. It was the three of us, and we each ended up purchasing a small family meal so we could bring back the left overs later. Little did we know our definition of a small family meal is much different from DUTC Grill’s! The pieces of chicken were huge, the sides huge, and the biscuits oh so delicious. I think we brought back over 70% of the meal even after we had stuffed our faces. The chicken is made fresh, so if it’s a busy night and your dining in, you may have to wait a bit. The plus side is that the service here is the friendliest I’ve ever had. The staff here really does treat you like family. For Sides: I would recommend the yams, mash potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. I don’t believe this place serves alcohol, but there are many delicious colas to select from. Give DUTC Grill a try if you’re down for a home style cooked meal! If you’re looking for a quick lunch fix, you may want to try to phone in your order ahead of time(if they allow it).

This is based solely on their chicken. Haven’t tried much else. Mac and Cheese, greens, and beans and rice are good. BESTFRIEDCHICKENINTOWN. You know a place is good when you see a large staff of people working there and the place has been around a while.
