99 Ranch Market

I had a great experience here, especially in the meat department. They have good, fresh meat at reasonable prices and I got the nicest person to help me. His name is Edwin and he even cut the head off my duck for me. Now that’s customer service! How can I complain? :)
I do want to make one note of another customer’s mention of the crab storage.
It would mean a lot to many of us if you could store the crab in a more humane way and not like sardines. if you dot that, you will keep your five stars! Thank you!

This place stinks as does the customer service. The price placards are confusing like ones with 4 pounds and up which actually means you have to buy the whole fish. Managers and staffs are very impolite with ‘buy if you want… we will still do well without you’ kind of attitude.

This market sells unfresh drinks, it’s still sealed and stored in refrigerator. But within best before date May 05, it went bad already.

Seriously thought I was driving to the Gardena 99 Ranch Market not the 17 713 Pioneer Blvd., Artesia, CA 90 701 store ugh!
To top off the miscalculated mapping they didn’t have the tea I was seeking.

This was my first time hearing of this store and my first time shopping there.
I was looking for some Asian products for several recipes that I have, however I wanted authentic Asian products, well thanks to Unilocal I found a Japanese Market Place, however it did not have what I needed.
They told me I was looking for Thai products.
I went to a Ralph’s in the area and they did not have what I was looking for, I saw a guy on the international isle and told him what I was looking for and he told me about 99 Ranch Market.
I am soooo HAPPY, they had exactly what I was looking for and much, much more and the prices were much more reasonable. Needless to say this will be my Go To market for my Asian dishes.
I met a lady from Santa Monica in 99 Ranch Market and we had a very long conversation and kept bumping into each other and she was passionate about the Asian cuisine.
She really educated me on Asian cooking, spices, dipping sauces and produce.
Guess WHAT, I GOT IT!
I am now an expert on making fresh Spring Rolls which are much healthier than fried Spring Rolls.
I can make several dipping sauces and marinades (you are probably thinking she is not telling the truth) I am a quick study and loving to cook as I do, I GOT THIS!
99 Ranch has a big parking lot, take credit cards, has fresh produce (which carries Asian as well as American), a fresh meat counter (you may purchase by the pound), tons of frozen Asian foods, a bakery, tons of Asian noodles and sauces, beverages, has public restrooms, a huge lottery ticket machine and much more.
The employees were extremely helpful and friendly!
I highly recommend this Market for all of your Asian grocery needs.

They keep their *crabs in ridiculously small containers to the point where they can’t even move. It’s inhumane and it makes me question the quality of their other products since it seems like they just take the easy way out when storing their stuff. Please consider a different storage method, if you’re going to kill the animals then you can at least grant them the liberty of moving around a bit before taking their lives.

Furthermore, that amount of crabs in a small area must be super unsanitary, a huge amount of germs just floating around in a dirty broth, who would want to eat that?

I was in a quest to find canned jackfruit. This was my second store of the day. Jackpot! And they had over great canned veggie options too. I’ll be back to browse for more items when I have more time. 4 stars instead of 5 because all of the frozen dumplings I checked had MSG in them. Not a deal breaker when there are many other foods to buy.

Great Chinese market, better than Chinatown LA, EVERYTHING YOU NEEDED IS HERE! and don’t be afraid of the samples on Saturdays.

Great place to go for Asian groceries. Huge variety of produce, sauces, seafood, meat, kitchenware, etc. Of the 99 Ranch stores, this one seems pretty clean and organized. There’s a small bakery section, and plants/​flowers by the entrance. Reasonable prices as well. Every time the parents are in town, we have to stock up here at least once a week. It’s located next to 85 degrees and Daiso, which are also obligatory stops.

99 Ranch is a Asian grocery chain– they have locations all of Southern California, in Nor Cal (I think), Seattle, and even Plano, TX! The location in Plano was actually my go-​to Asian grocery store when I was living in Dallas.
Today was my first time shopping at this 99 Ranch. Usually I go to the one in Cerritos. This 99 Ranch is a bit smaller than the others– while it has some premade food (such as pork and veggie buns), it lacks the deli station other 99 Ranchs have. Despite that, I was able to find everything I was looking or would want to get. The prices are significantly cheaper than going to a Ralphs or Vons. For example, a bunch of green onion is only $ 0.20 here vs. $ 0.50 — $ 1.00 at a Vons, Ralphs, or Farmers Market.
A couple of other positives about this place is its locations– there’s a Daiso (Japanese version of a 99 cent store) and a 85 degree C bakery. So after you’re doing grocery shopping, swing by 85 degree for some Sea Salt Ice Coffee and a giant loaf of buttery brioche. Yum!

If you’re looking for Asian groceries, this is the place for it.
I managed to get Bak Kut Teh spices, roti prata, siew mai, indomie, chicken curry, laksa and most importantly, durian! (Naming all the food here for those looking for these specific stuff).
Durians are kept in the freezer in case you miss it– I almost did. And they go 79cents/​pound. We bought one durian and it cost about $ 20.
Their meat there is pretty fresh too. Have fun :)

This is my usual 99 ranch… you can get all that you need to cook up a delicious Asian meal here instead of traveling all the way out to Monterey Park to get the ingredients…
People here are pretty nice since I’ve already know some of them (not by name but the parties recognizes each other)
Parking is slightly more bearable here… and they also have 85C here as well!
The best part of my recent discovery… since it’s almost CNY… lot of hot pot ingredients are being presented at the markets… so what do I recommend? GET SOME FISH BALLS!!! On sale right now for $ 4.99 a pound! My favorites are celery balls, Squirting roe balls, Meat inside fish balls, etc… Just get some, it’s super delicious…

99 Ranch Market is a chain. This one’s located on the south side on Artesia, sharing real estate with Daiso and McDonald’s. It has an eclectic supply of foods.
It’s an interesting place to visit. I saw copious amount of unique items here.

Overview: 99 Ranch Market is a large, crowded, kind of dirty, Asian grocery chain (predominantly Chinese) that sells a wide variety of produce, meat/​poultry/​fish, herbs, baked goods, and imported prepackaged goods at reasonable to moderate prices.
The Location: Not my favorite city, but in the daytime I felt very safe parking and shopping at this place. You better like Asian people (specifically oriental) or you’re not going to enjoy your time here.
The Establishment: With relatively narrow hallways, the odor of dying fish, big Asian crowds, but an amazing selection of pretty much everything used in Chinese cuisine, 99 Ranch is not a place for the meek shopper. Unlike Mitsuwa, 99 Ranch focuses on selection and value rather than a pleasant shopping experience.
The Selection: From lychees to ginger candies, to cat fish, to wonderful fresh pork buns, to 20+ varieties of soy sauce, 99 Ranch will have it. Pricing is pretty decent, and definitely cheaper than its Japanese cousin, Mitsuwa.
Conclusions: This 99 Ranch in Gardena is crowded, stinky, and somewhat unpleasant, but man they have everything you need for Chinese cuisine and at pretty decent prices. Great baked goods including several sweet breads and meat buns, very interesting produce (durian, rambutan, etc) and great sauce selection keep me coming back.

If you are a big fan of Asian cuisine, particularly Chinese food, then this supermarket is right up your alley.
This is where you can find cheap foreign vegetable, mushrooms, exotic roots and frozen dim sum. Moreover, one of the most exciting parts of this store is that they also carry tropical fruits such as, Durian, Lychee and Rambutan. In addition, this place also has the best selection of seafood’s ranging from, fresh oyster, clams, crabs, lobsters and many more and If you are lucky you may catch the seafood selection on sale. There is a certain culture that they cater towards to, and it is distinctly towards the Chinese community, so don’t freak out when they don’t carry other Asian products.
The location itself is very convenient, it is right next to the freeway. Making this supermarket very popular for the locals. The only downside in this market is that there is a language barrier between the staff and the customer. Don’t expect getting any help at this store. If you are looking for a specific product, expect to find it yourself.
Recently they remodeled the store, and it looks cleaner and much organized than before. However, don’t assume getting a better customer service. Overall, great products and convenient location.

Really great selection of items! From exotic fruit and vegetables to all of kinds of seafood. Tons of durian, papayas, apples, and pears. I left 99 Ranch Market with some aloe vera juice, mandarin orange juice, coconut juice, and a huge twenty-​pound jackfruit that cost me a twenty. If you’re a seafood lover, then this place would be heaven. The live crab tanks are cool. I’m in an ES, so all I could do is salivate. As I went up and down the aisles, I kept an eye out for any foreign flavors of Lay’s potato chips and some frozen mangosteen. But they didn’t have either. I may visit another store location to find out if it’s different or the same.

First time here, can’t believe I’ve never stepped foot in here before. I came because a coworker of mine told me she gets these really good teas here, 100 tea bags for $ 5 and they are good. Stassen brand jasmine green tea is so good and it’s not «cheap» tasting either. I love the Asian markets because you find so many good snacks there. Had to stock up on my bin bin/​senbei rice crackers, furukake, taro mochi, and of course my tea! I wonder if the fresh fish they have in the cases really are fresh, meat too from the butcher area. I saw they fry fish for you Until 8pm, found that to be pretty cool.

Yay, 99 Ranch! They have all sorts of delicious Chinese goodies. Fantastic fresh seafood selection, all sorts of snacks and produce and frozen goods.
I also really like the fresh baked goods from Desire bakery out front. Their sweet coconut raisin bread is the bomb.
If you come at the right time, there are tons of free samples of stuff to taste. Yummy!

We kept driving by this place and had no idea what they sold.
One night we finally decided to check it out and discovered it was a grocery store. Cool! The store is neat and organized. Lots of fresh seafood sold. Plenty of Asian snacks, sauces, fruits, veggies, frozen foods, etc. A lot of cool ice cream flavors such as Thai Tea and Durian.
