Turtle Tea

Turtle Tea was recommended to me by Raf. D. awhile back, and finally got a chance to check it out with Mollie L. yesterday. We both couldn’t find the place, so a pro tip would be: they’re in a small plaza wih Tip Top Sandwiches and Bebe Salon. The is also scarce, but you can park in the street near by no problem.
Upon entering, the place is spacious with about 6 tables each with 3 – 4 chairs. They also have 3 bar spaces with 3 – 4 chairs as well as a table available outside for those that want some fresh air. They also have ample board games for those that want to hang out with friends and relax for a bit while enjoying their tea, slushie, ice cream, and/​or food.
They have many special teas here, which are steeped and brewed to order and range from $ 3.50 to $ 4.50 depending on how you order it iced or hot. For the tea, Mollie L. chose their potted jasmine milk tea and I chose the Tropical Twist recommended by Judy N. I thought it was a bit too sweet and was hoping it was just a hot tea, which I should have asked, haha!
For munchies, we decided to make ours into combo orders. One combo is Fries with Milk Tea and the other is 4pc wings with the Slush Tea. The sauce list is very similar to Buffalo Wild Wings, but they have their own twist to it. They have you pick a seasoning from the list for your fries and your wings! So we chose the Day Cajun Sauce for the wings and the Lemon Garlic Parmesan for the fries. Both were delicious and had the perfect crispy texture on the outside and soft, juicy interior (for the chicken wings). It’s also a nice touch when they bring out the food and drinks to you, too.
Overall, I’m digging this place and will definitely come back to try their hot teas.

Haven’t been here recently, so I won’t comment on the drink.
I remember that The service was very accommodating and you can see the wide variety of selections for tea!
The place is pretty spacious with Cartoon Network shows to watch.

Good service even up to a few minutes before closing. They remembered all my requests. Cute turtle décor and comfy chairs. They take Square. Their milk or cream is just out in an open container in their fridge.

I come here occasionally to get work finished over a light drink. It’s been a minute since I’ve been here, and it’s still a good spot. Staff is friendly, but this visit I’m a little disappointed. I ordered an iced black coffee, I didn’t know they had coffee here. The order took a while, and I’m assuming it’s because they don’t sell much of coffee. Another thing, is the value. The coffee was $ 4, filled to the brim with ice, and it was filled halfway after ice was in. What I ended up receiving was a shot of expresso in a cup of ice. I think there needs to be an understanding that this is not the same as brewed coffee. If they don’t served brewed coffee, there’s no need to say they do.

Love this place. Always come here when I’m craving a good tea. (I live like 60 miles away too…) Unlike other places that just use artificial syrup or powder I know that I’m getting fresh tea when I come here. They have so much tea selections to choose from and you can sample the smells as the counter.

It was my first time here! I came here on a Friday at 12 (so right when it opened) so it empty but nonetheless I was greeted by the owners who were so nice. The male owner who took my order handed me back my card with two hands and I thought that was extremely sweet and respectful LOL. As for the drink, I had the potted milk tea which was great!

Great $ 1.00 ice creams with many flavors. This place has board games as well and just shoot the breeze with my kids. Great fun and entertainment that I don’t have to spend lots of money. Today the key is savings and doesn’t break the bank

Great choices with much more flexibility in creating your own drink. Their best asset is the tea samples they have at the counter where you can choose which tea to use for your final drink, whether it’s milk tea or other drinks.
The people here are patient and helpful so if you have any questions feel free to ask! I wanted milk tea with something fruity but the guys told me that the acidity of the fruit may not be a good idea for milk tea, so he recommended me the rooibos Bonita. Really helpful and I’m glad he went out of his way to let me know.
My tea was just right, not too strong and not too sweet. It didn’t taste like sugar syrup by the end of the drink. Finally a place that does this right.
Great place to chill and if you want your traditional teas done better this is the place to go.

Got the jade amaretto milk tea, half sweet. It was decent. Nothing out of the ordinary. The boba was awesome though. It was perfectly chewy, slightly denser, which I prefer. However, the person I was with got one of the peach teas. We asked for it half sweet as well, but I think they didn’t put any sweetener at all. The tea tasted over brewed too. Maybe we just got the wrong teas or maybe it was because it was busy.

Big, spacious place, great for hanging out. They have many boardgames and deck of cards for you to use. *My favorite is the horsey (Đá Nga) set. There are a lot of room and not too boisterous, so I can see this as a great place for studying.
Unfortunately, I went with a group of friends, we all got different milk tea drinks and NOT ONE of us liked our drinks. ⁰⁄₄. They have a cool idea of using different flavor teas, which we tried (I had the Crying Tiger or something). The drink was wayyy too strong on the tea with no hint of sweetness. It felt like drinking tea lol. I really like this place for its atmosphere, however, and will probably come back to try other drinks (not milk tea) and give it another chance. Any suggestions would be helpful hah.

Honestly I’ve been coming here for a while but really started coming here a lot more once John started working there. He goes above and beyond to make sure your drink is to your exact liking. Idk who else would honestly do that, not even Starbucks gives that service. I’ve had a guy named Austin make my drinks a few times and they were just awful. It tasted like water down milk and I’m paying for something that I can’t get anywhere else that’s why you go here. For that crisp yummy taste, not milk I can by a Stater Bros and throw in water and ice. I highly recommend you come here and have John make you a drink. You won’t be sorry. Trust!

Spacious and clean place with plenty of lighting, outlets, and free wifi. Nice décor and excellent spot for studying or getting work done. Great service and relatively quiet on the weekdays (not sure what it’s like on weekends though.)
Turtle tea has a wide selection of drinks and different types of tea to choose from… so many that it took me forever to decide what to get! The manager recommended an off menu drink, ‘nightingale’, which was super helpful. I can’t recall exactly what was in it, but it was pretty good. They also customize the level of sweetness according to each customers’ liking, which is great since I am not a fan of super sugary drinks.
I also ordered the popcorn chicken, thinking they only had one kind. Nope! So what kind of seasoning? What kind of dipping sauce? Way too many choices for the indecisive…
The order of popcorn chicken here is definitely enough for at least two people. Unfortunately the chicken was a bit dry and hard like rocks– couldn’t even pick up the chicken with the wooden stick without feeling like I was stabbing at my food. But maybe it was my fault since I didn’t eat the chicken right away while it was hot. Still prefer the one at Tapioca Express though…
However, the service I experienced at turtle tea on a slow afternoon was exceptionally good. The manager actually came around periodically to check if my food/​drink was okay, which I didn’t really expect from a no server, no-​tip, order-​at-​the counter type place. It definitely sets turtle tea apart from the dozens of competing boba shops nearby.

My friend just took me here today. i’m so curious because of the name «Turtle Tea». I got potted milk tea with Totoro picture on the surface of the tea. Super cute and nice. It’s a small and simple tea shop. However, the manager is very nice. Actually, His passion of tea is incredible. We have really good conversation about the tea, his knowledge and 8-​year-​experience with Tea.
After talking with John (I hope I remember your name right ^^!) I really have good image with Turtle Tea.
As a customer, I rate 5 stars for Turtle Tea because of the attitude of the staff and tasty drinks. However, I find out that this shop can still improve to attract more customers.
Below is my personal recommendation. Because I love this place at first sight so I hope this store will improve in the future.
1) As a customer, I find the menu is kind of old and really hard to look when we order. Therefore, a new menu with more catchy pictures of drinks will be more effective
2) John knows a lot about benefit of different kinds of teas but the customers (I and my friends) do not know. He can make special tea for students who need to focus or drinks which is good for gym. So why dont u guys put those information into your menu or flyers?
3) I find the plastic cups are very mainstream. If u want to attract more customers, maybe think of something more uniques for the cups: cute designs, cute logo,…
4) As I know you guys name the drink after customers’ names. That should be advertised as one of ur unique character. Another thing is that u make the new boba every 4 hours. This is the first time I know a store will do this. incredible!
5) I really love the totoro drawing on my drinks. But i think u guys can make it look more cute and fancy by using different kind of cup or decoration
6) «Turtle Tea» is a cute name and easy to remember. However, the decoration inside the store doesn’t really reflect the name (except 2 stuffed turtle in front of the cashier). decoration needed to be taken carefully.
So far above is all my recommendation for your store. ^^ I will be back soon because I love this place. Hopefully my feedback and recommendation will help

I’ve tried many tea boba places throughout OC and thought this would have been one of the better ones due to the high rating but sadly this place was a disappointment on many areas.
I ordered the infamous potted drink which is $ 5.25 for milk drinks primarily. I decided to go with the Rooibos Vanilla Milk Tea with the Totoro design (Extra Sweet). I didn’t even know they could do designs with the potted drink but they do. I waited a good 15 – 20 minutes for my drink and there wasn’t a big crowd so I was confused why it took that long. Granted, they only had two workers there but I’m not sure why the potted drink would require more effort. It was ground Oreos and a mint decorated on top.
The drink reminded me of a root beer float with vanilla ice cream. It was okay but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the potted look itself since I didn’t see Totoro anywhere and it was only for pictures sake but the potted portion added no enhancement to the drink. Maybe I had high expectations, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back to Turtle Tea anytime soon.

I love how the counter here displays the many different types of teas. The cashier was very friendly in explaining them to me and gave me recommendations on her favorites. The games here are plentiful as well. While the boba itself is average, it’s a nice, quiet place to chill with friends after an evening of fun.

Being in Garden Grove/​Westminster I expected Turtle Tea to be like a Tebo Tebo or Tastea (fobby place to just get in and get out). However, Turtle Tea is just the opposite. Tucked on the side of Brookhurst and 15^th street, this place is actually a good place to get work done or study.
The environment is pretty chill. They have a decent amount of round tables along with power outlets on the side where you can get work done (couches if you want to take a nap or just prefer a coach). They have TV’s in the front that’s usually playing some sort of animé or cartoon. They even have board games. The wifi is free and surprisingly isn’t slow. However, this place can get busy at times and get really loud.
Drink wise, they have a huge selection of tea. The person working the counter knows their tea, so they can make a suggestion based off of what you like. I’ve been here maybe 4 – 5 times by now, and I try a different tea each time. I’m personally not a fan of anything sweet, so I always get my tea with no sugar and honey. Price wise may be on the higher than average side, since a cup of tea runs about $ 3.75. However, I don’t mind paying that price since the tea is actually really good.
They also have a pretty good decent selection of food ranging from popcorn chicken to wings to fries.
Overall, this is a place I will come to more often now to get work done because they are closed pretty late at around 11pm and their teas are pretty good.

Great place to study, since it doesn’t always get too crowded or noisy here compared to other tea/​coffee shops. They have reasonably sized tables for studying in groups.
Service here is really good and employees are very attentive.
A vide variety of drinks to choose from and you can customize to your own liking. Portions are moderately big enough to share.

Surprisingly, I come here for the wings. They’re $ 5.75 for 6 decently sized wings and there’s plenty of sauce/​flavor offerings.
So far, I’ve tried the Louisiana Rub, Lemon Pepper Rub, and House special sauce. All were delicious but I liked the Louisiana Rub the best because it’s got a hint of spicy and they’re not skimpy on the powder.

We came here one night after not being too hungry from a big lunch, but needing dinner. Being tea lovers, we decided to check this place out to try some more teas as well as get some grub.
I admit I did not look at the menu because I knew what I was going for, but I would suggest looking at it since there are more drink options than their overhead menu, so I am sure the same goes for food. My original thought was to have popcorn chicken. You pick your flavor. I picked lemon pepper. When we walked in though, it was not on the above menu, but popcorn shrimp was. I did not ask about the chicken but figured that I had not had popcorn shrimp in a long time so I went with lemon pepper popcorn shrimp. My husband went with the twelve piece wings in the mango habanero and Texas smoke rub flavors.
There are a few tables as well as some cushy seats to hang out at. They also provide some board games for entertainment and some animé on television.
For my tea I went with an iced green tea with pineapple flavoring and added blueberry as a topping. They let you pick various teas along with a lot of flavor choices. First topping is free as well. My husband went with a black tea mixture. I think it was called Ops for the combination.
My tea started out tasty but later seemed very watered down. My husband’s tea was very odd in flavor to both of us. He would probably get the Earl Grey next time. I am thinking about trying their Earl Grey lavender next time, not sure if it would be a milk tea or not. I am not a big milk tea fan so far but I do love lavender lattes.
The food was fine as well. Not bad for a smaller dinner. However, mine ended up being chicken. I didn’t care either way as it was my original option but I know a lot of people would have. I did not have a receipt to check. It was good in consistency, and in good texture but I filled up quickly once again. My husband seemed to enjoy his wings as well. They both came with a choice of sauce and we both chose ranch.
Not bad. I have had better teas at other places but I would come back and try a few more. There are also a few desserts that I may want to try.

As good as it gets for real tea in Westminster! Love their real tea taste and not that powder crap that people fall for. BTW, they accept card now as well!
OC has just about enough tea spots as SGV. One difference is that I have yet to find a Tea Station equivalent location here in OC (or should I say in Westminster, Cha for tea in Irvine is too legit lol).
Love their open space floor with tables and couches. Good environment to hang out with the laptop, play cards with friends or maybe even do homework (depending if there is people and a bit loud at that). The employees are really nice, take the time to explain their teas for you and show commitment on what they stand for as a tea location.
The couple of times I’ve been here, I probably liked all my drinks with exception of one or too (not too much of a fruity drink person). LOVE coming for their Jasmine bloom tea. I always enjoy a nice, warm, earthy and floral tasting tea. Probably why I’m not too big on the powder boba drinks a lot of people tend to go for. Their Rose milk tea and tropical splash drinks are refreshing. The Rose milk tea taste really floral, not too sweet. The same story goes for their Lavender milk tea.
Their food is OK, but the popcorn chicken is their better tasting item on the menu. Lightly battered, no heavy oil or dark meat taste. Calamari basically looks like onion rings. Taste good but maybe a little too much on the oily side unlike the chicken. The fried tofu is a bit weird. I like how thin and crispy tasting they are. The problem is I feel that it seems a little bit in an order and maybe be an issue to some people due to its size and thin cuts. The seasonings are pretty good. Garlic Parmesan, spicy, and their Cajun seasonings go well with the items.
The drinks and food are fair in pricing. Nothing too expensive, if anything just as expensive as other boba or tea shops. The difference is the real tea and floral tastes. Probably make an effort to come once a week to feed the craving lol.
