Food was okay. But I would not go out of my way to come back. My friend and I were looking forward to trying their cornish hen. Unfortunately, they did not serve it that day. The stars are mainly for the attentive servers.

What can I say… The food here is amazing! It’s a small hole in the wall place. Limited parking, exterior isn’t in the best condition either. But the inside is nice and modern. Relaxed as well You get free chips here with Asian green salsa. The green salsa is just wow. I actually had a refill of the chips and salsa. 9⁄10 on this. The chips were good too. No idea where they bought the chips from but they were good. Ordered ginger beef. Obviously cooked medium rare. This was good but a bit overpriced in my opinion. 7⁄10 for this Mango and squid. 8⁄10. Super good but super spicy. Wish they told me it was spicy. Mango with apple slices too. Garlic noodles with lamb. 10⁄10. This entrée makes the entire meal totally worth it. Order this and eat the chips. That’s all you really need. 3 items came out to $ 42. Kinda pricey for an Asian place but I’d still come back. Well done guys!

This is a new spot that you should check out. I recommend the lemon grass ginger chicken with level 4 spice and the lamb chops with garlic pasta.

Great look to this place and nice ambiance, not what you’d expect from your average vietnamese bistro. This place would definitely work in LA, but they’d have to change a couple of things. The Food was good. Escargots(sea snails) were perfectly baked and had a nice flavor. Frog legs were a bit like ends and pieces rather than actual legs, but so tasty. The Salmon belly as delicious. I liked all of the appetizers. We had several plates from Ribeye to lamb chops to chicken to fish. Everyone enjoyed their entrees although we had to send one back because it was cold. Once we got it back all was good. So I said the good and now the bad. The location is less than attractive located in a strip mall that’s a bit run down and a little ghetto. The alcohol selection is weak at best. Standard beers and 3 wines(cab, chardonnay and riesling). All $ 10 bottles if that at your local grocer. An area of much needed improvement and one so simply implemented. Get a few cool beers and put some thought into your wine list even if it’s limited. Also, cab was served cold. No-no. Lastly, the entrees were served at different times. Our lamb came out at the same time for 2 of us and the next entrée Chicken with lemon-grass followed minutes later. The next entrees didn’t come out for another 5 minutes and our last entrée the fish came out another 5 minutes later. Approximately 10 minutes from first to last entrée. Again a big no-no in my book. Still like this place but I think these are necessary changes to receive any higher rating from me.

Oh yasssssss! everything, they say about this place on Unilocal is true! It is often times a one man show, so waits can be long, but its worth it for SURE! You have to try the yummy beef salad, with the rau muong, it is so good and yummy! Also the chicken wings are glazed with a yummy sauce, and also they have Asian style chips and salsa and its no gimmick, they are GOOD! I will be back, and I will be travelling for this yummy spot.

Food is really good. Large portions, decent prices. But the wait time for anything is just too long. I don’t understand how pasta can take an hour to make. Our steaks took over 30 mins to come out and by the time we were done, the shrimp pasta was still being cooked. Weird to have everyone finish eating while one person just watch. And by the time that we were fine eating, the rest of us watched one person eat their pasta. Especially with only one fourth of the restaurant being occupied. And it’s not a big place. I’d say come eager, not hungry. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I come back? I might just order to go and pick up my own convenience.

3.5*, round up to 4*. Came here on a Sunday evening for dinner, not busy at all… We ordered the escargot, blood clam, beef salad and lemongrass chicken with crispy rice. My favorite is the beef salad, well seasoned and the beef were very tender, and the dressing was very yummy too! The rest are just ok, nothing special… The blood clams were very small, not much meat… The lemongrass chicken was pretty good but very oily. The escargots were just ok… Nothing to rave about… I will probably go back for the beef salad only… It’s kinda pricey for Vietnamese food too…

My parents really enjoyed eating here and they’re not easy to please. Had the following: Complimentary chips and«Asian» salsa — I appreciated the warm tortilla chips that I think they make in house and the salsa that came with it was perfection. Saigon Tea — refreshing drink that’s served in a mason jar(very trendy). Nothing mind blowing, but I’m glad I tried it. Escargot — Really well seasoned and tender. Similar texture to clams for those who’ve never had escargot. It’s my second time ever eating escargot and this was wayyyy better than my first experience with it. Glad I gave it another go. A little tricky to get the meat out of the shell though. Ongchoy Salad — This was my favorite dish of the night. The dressing was light and savory without being too salty and I love the mixture of greens they used. The usage of Shiso leaves is genius and adds a lovely delicate depth of flavor to the salad. The thinly cooked beef they topped the salad with was tender and delicious making it a really well balanced dish. You’ll be happy you ordered this dish. Lemon Grass Chicken with Crispy Rice — It’s a tasty dish and you’ll especially like it if you like the taste of curry spices. They give you a 1 – 10 option of how spicy you want it. The waitress noted the chef has a heavy hand when it comes to the spice so we stuck with 1 since I’m not really into spicy food. Lamb chops with Garlic Noodles — so I know everyone has been raving about this dish but I thought it was ok. I had high expectations due to all the reviewers highly recommending it. Don’t get me wrong, the noodles were tasty but the lamb itself didn’t have much flavor. It was cooked really well though and juicy and tender. I want to try their shrimp with crab sauce and noodles next time I come. Overall my parents and I really love this place and the free sake with the Unilocal check in made my Asian father extremely happy. The ambiance is really inviting and it’d be a cute spot to take a date to. French café music with a charming décor and flavorful food are going to score some major points with your date. Parking is limited though and the place isn’t good for large groups or loud crying children.

Pretty solid fusion-Vietnamese joint located in a packed plaza in the Westminster/GG area. I came here with a friend and together we shared the fried salmon belly(4⁄5), french fries(4⁄5), and the lamb chop garlic pasta(4⁄5). Service was pretty solid and the décor here is very cute. On a weekday, it’s pretty empty and a casual restaurant. I would definitely be back here one day to try more of their food.

I just got back from Bangkok, I was still jetlagged and should have stayed home instead of venturing out to try a fusion restaurant, it was always a risky move to try a fusion place as it was often neither here nor there. I had the itch to find out what this place was all about that had 4 stars. All my reviews almost always had a picture of the menu but all these reviews and nobody posted one, I would never have gone to a place w so few items, I am a fussy eater and need options. We were promptly seated and given free chips and salsa, that was really good. I was surprised they had no soup , I got from Bangkok oven temperature of about 105 °F to a windy cold day of about 45 °F with windshield factor, there was no parking and we parked in the back and had to walk in the cold, I was dying for a hot soup, I had to settle on hot water. The restaurant was nicely decorated, it had more wine bottles on the wall than most French or Italian restaurants!!! the server was really friendly and service was fast so that was a plus. My husband ordered the Cornish hen, it was fried and rather dry, it was so plain, anybody could have fried this, there was no marination, they should have at least get it a little bit salted before frying. The sauce was awful, reminded me of the terrible thick soy sauce I had in every Beijing restaurant, they did not have normal soy sauce, luckily the rice was good. I ordered the tiger rib eye, described as Thai inspired, it came out looking absolutely beautiful, the beef was nicely grilled, unfortunately it was chewy and needed salt, I had to ask for it, all I tasted was the lemongrass, the salad was good. I kept on spitting it out, I was unable to chew it at all, I could not even cut it in small pieces, it was so tough it needed EDWARDSCISSOR-HANDS’ HANDS to cut it in small pieces, I then asked for a knife to cut it. BTW, Mr Rice Bistro, please provide customers with a knife and have salt, pepper on the table, we should not have to ask for it. Come to think about it, I needed Edward Scissor-hands’ teeth to chew it, I did not want to waste it so I asked for a box to take it home to boil it into a soup. I overheard the chef telling my husband that it was really chuck beef not rib eye. Needless to say, I will not be coming back, I guess after 2 weeks of enjoying culinary delight in Thailand, I could handle anything. A 3 stars rating was probably generous because the servers and the chef were all very nice.

Service: impressive! Food: delicious! Price: expensive compared to other nearby restaurants Compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I’ve dined in, Rice Paper Bistro is definitely more modern and that includes service. We were given complimentary homemade salsa and chips. My boyfriend isn’t a fan of salsa but their salsa he and I loved! It has. Sweet and tangy taste to it that makes you want more. The waiter was very courteous and the food didn’t take long to come out. We got the shrimp garlic noodles and the lamb chop with garlic noodles. Both very tasty. They do close for a couple hours mid-day and sometimes they’re closed for an entire day so it’s always a gamble deciding to go here. Price for food is high compared to other places but you do pay for the service and the quality. If the price was a little lower my boyfriend and I would go here every day.

Heard all the amazing raves about the dishes here so I wanted to give it a try. I went to dinner with my bf here so when we arrived there was no waitress in the dining area at all. So we had to stand there and wait till the waitress finally showed up. So we ordered the grilled shrimp, grilled lamb chop with garlic pasta, and my boyfriend got the lemongrass chicken. The waitress tells us that she made a mistake and put in a order for grilled squid so it was cool she didn’t charge us for that. The worst thing was that my lamb chops was raw which was hard to believe since there tiny little medallion size. It’s like they quick seared it on the grill only. I told the waitress and the owner took it back saying was it too rare? The second time around all the pieces were cooked more except one piece was still raw. That just left a terrible impression to me. I basically got charged for raw lamb. Besides that I like the grilled shrimp had good flavor some pieces were too charred and the squid was decent too. Not sure if I would come back since my lamb was raw. Eighteen dollars for some raw meat…

Not impressed. I went here for dinner with my family. When we arrived, there was only one other party in there and it seems like they were friends with the server since he sat down with them. Anyway, we were immediately seated and received our menu. We did the Unilocal check-in and got the $ 1 sake and proceeded to order. We ordered the«escargot»(they were large sea snails cooked in garlic butter), blood clams, a medium-rare rib-eye steak, a cornish hen, and grilled shrimp. We also ordered a Saigon Tea. We wanted to try the salmon belly, but it was unavailable. After we placed our orders, we received tortilla chips and a green dip. The dip was pretty good so we were hoping for it to be followed by a delicious meal. However, we were pretty disappointed. Everything was average. The steak was pretty bland and had inconsistent textures(some areas were under cooked and chewy). Out of the items we ordered, my favorites were the escargot and the cornish hen. The Saigon Tea just tasted like Old Country Lemonade with some fruits & mint leaves. Towards the end of the dinner, the waiter kept on trying to clear our table. He came probably every 5 – 10 mins to ask us if we were done with our food even though we still had stuff on our plate… We thought that they were closing and realized that it was only 7:30pm when we looked at the clock. Overall, the experience was lackluster for the price that we paid for the meal.

Rice Paper is a catch all paper product made from a variety of plant life. That sums up what RP is. A hodge podge of things Vietnamese or Vietnamesey. Ask for Bun Cha, Banh Beo Chen, Cha Ca Thong Long, and you will get a blank stare from the charming, friendly young lady who does everything in the restaurant except slaughter a pig and cook it, or dab your chin with a napkin. This is a wannabe up market Vietnamese place that has been Americanized, Frenchified and wine bar-ed. It is a mélange of Asian meets Gringo styles of food. Okay… there is a place for all of that. Is this it? We’ll see. The space is a cute little gray box. A small selection of nondescript wines are on offer but there is no draft beer and and no Asian beer. So don’t ask for a 33 because that’s 86 here. The menu(in English) is as small as a Social Security check. The house opened with a gratis plate of fried Wontons and Salsa. This was homage to the tired Tire Repair shop that probably was once here when the neighborhood was Little Juarez instead of Little Saigon. The Salsa had a floral herbal, and perfumey taste. Turns out it was Cilantro, Garlic, Jalapeño, Fish Sauce, and Apple Juice. Whew, and I thought it was Jungle Gardenia. I will have my taste buds adjusted first chance I get. It was very tasty, indeed. Dos mas canastas, por favor. Grilled Bloody Clams sounded bloody good. Slathered with Scallions, Garlic, Sesame Oil, and Toasted Peanuts. Alas, it was kinda like a psychotic beauty Queen, lookin’ great until you are up close and personal. These little rubber clam balls were clam flavored chewing gum, and a grand opportunity to wake up with TMJ. Chicken Wings were slathered with Garlic, Onion, Fish Sauce, and Chili Flakes. They were kinda crisp, kinda tasty but not the measure of BBQ Chicken, One Star, Love Letter. Ongchoy(Water Spinach) Salad was leafy, tendrilly, shooty and crunchy, like your teenage daughter’s new«do». Add some Watercress, Lettuce(Romaine), Filet Mignon with the stuff that you stuff a Cha Gio into(Carrots, Thai Basil, Garlic, Cilantro, Mint) all chopped to bits and slathered with a light Sesame Oil and Fish Saucy Dressing and you end up with a cheerful dish. Lamb Chops. Yeah Baby! These Bah’d boys were terrific. Tender, fat and gristle free, nicely charred and good even if they were nestled on store bought vermicelli and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese from the«Green Can». The noodles were billed as «Garlic Noodles» but the garlic had been slathered on the sad clams and wannabe wings and was nowhere to be found under or on the Lamb Chops or the noodle nest. If this this was a game of Rocks, Rice Paper and Scissors. Rice Paper comes in third. Yes, the food was cooked to order and arrived sizzling or smoking. You can see a three foot wall of flame off the Wok in the kitchen which looked like right after the alarm went off at the Triangle Shirtwaist Co but in the end hot food ain’t so hot if it ain’t so hot. Maybe RP needs better PR, but I just can’t slather it with praise.

So, what’s awesome about this place? Is that you can have a meal and alcohol for under $ 10 before taxes and w/your Unilocal check-in The place has red rice with cornish hen for $ 8(which I haven’t tried yet) and crispy rice with lemon grass chicken for $ 9. You add in your Unilocal check in for a $ 1 sake and youre golden. Of course, this isnt A grade sake, but for a $ 1 it’s not bad. The crispy rice and chicken is golden compared to fast food which would cost about the same. The chicken was flavorful with a slight amount of sweetness. The portion wasn’t a skinny person’s portion either. You also get complimentary chip and dip. Their dip is not a normal dip as it is more liquidity. I’m not totally sure what’s in it but I’m guessing cilantro, lime, sugar, water possibly garlic and some some other stuff. The other dish that was good that we tried was the tiger steak. The steak was flavorful and tender. I hate chewy steak so this was great. Water here is cucumber water and served in mason jars. Flavored water is always a bonus. As far as service goes, it was great, but this might be partial because there wasn’t a lot of people here the two times I went here. This is definitely a place I would return to since it was such a good deal.

This is a trendy little restaurant that I discovered thanks to Unilocal. All the food and drinks we ordered were presented nicely which helped make my photos look picturesque. One star taken off due to misleading labels of items on the menu. 1) Saigon tea: while this drink is sweet and refreshing on a hot summer’s day, the title is not accurate. This drink contains mint leaves and strawberries. I was told by someone who’s familiar with Saigon that these items are not available in Saigon. 2) Garlic Pasta: while this pasta was cooked perfectly, not over or under cooked this title is misleading. It was more like pasta sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. I didn’t taste any garlic. 3) Ong Choy Salad: I love this salad. It’s light and delicious. Meat was cooked perfectly and dressing paired well with everything. However, there was no Ong choy in this salad. Other than this discrepancies listed above, everything else was perfect. Prices are a bit pricey, but portions are bigger than most restaurants so it was worth it. I’d come back to try more things on the menu.

We had been eyeing Rice Paper Bistro for some time. In an area where there are so many Vietnamese restaurants in Little Saigon, Rice Paper stood out with slightly fusion versions of Vietnamese classics. The Chicken Wings were great, lollipopped chicken drumsticks and fried crisp with a really addictive fish sauce based glaze. Their version of Ga Roti was with a cornish game hen, crisp skin, vietnamese seasonings, and moist flesh. The lemongrass chicken was a strong flavored dish, with stir fried diced chicken with onions heavy in curry powder and lemongrass. The lamb chops won us all over. They lamb was so tender and well cooked. The only part I didn’t like was the cheesy, garlicky spaghetti that it came with. Overall, it was quite good food though a bit pricy for the area.

What a hidden treasure! There is not one negative thing I can say about this place. Décor is super cute, trendy, casual & very clean. Greeted with smiles, staff was very attentive & helpful suggesting most popular items. I had the«O» salad & this has got to be the best salad I’ve ever had! The portion was generous & the filet mignon was cooked to total perfection. I don’t want to give away the secret punch to this salad. you must experience it on your own. Your taste buds will love you forever! My husband had the frog legs. He enjoyed them & called it «clean meat». He said it tasted better then chicken. Looked interesting but I did not try. Water served was very refreshing. I could taste the hint of cucumber & lemon. Scored with the $ 1 sake check in special! We had ours cold & it was great. Well done Rice Paper Bistro. your pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices, amazing food & awesome staff deserve my rated stars. My compliments to you all(especially the chef) see you again very soon :)

Such a great little spot! Just looking at all the delicious pictures from here is enough to convince me that this is my kind of spot. Instead of an overwhelming menu with mediocre food, this is the total opposite. Menu is short, simple, and straight to the point but with enough delicious varieties to choose from. I’m pretty sure any dish you order here will be a safe bet because I thoroughly enjoyed every dish we had. The service here is also outstanding. We had such an amazing server who was on top of everything our entire visit. Definitely do recommend!
