Mai Ninh Tailoring & Alterations

This place is so effing horrible!!! Sent two of my dresses to get fixed… Said it will be done in three days. The fourth day my friend picked it up and the owner/​lady? forgot to give her one of my dresses … So I called her and told her I dropped of two dresses not just one. So okay that’s fine I’ll pick it up next time I told her. I went to pick it up today and omfg… Just looked at it now and it wasn’t even fixed !!! The lines and pin hole mark is still there. I am so mad !!

The place does great work but their timing is HORRIBLE!!! They promised to finish the alterations in 5 days. When I came to pick up the items, it wasn’t done. They told me to come back the next day and still… The items were not completed. I’m not sure how much they can keep postponing my alterations. Ive been still here for almost 45 mins and it’s still not done. I no longer have patience for this place. My fiancé and I will no longer come here!
Overall, decent work but HORRIBLE timing! If your depending for this place to get it done on time… Don’t count on it!
Give yourself a 1 month buffer… I mean this!

I always come here whenever I need to hem my pants or fix my dresses. They always ask me to come back in a couple days and it will be ready, but every time I come back they would tell me to come back in a couple hours. It’s a waste of time driving back and forth. Sometimes when they’re not that busy and you only have a few things to fix, it will most likely be ready that same day but that’s a rare chance though. I’m currently sitting here right now waiting for my sister’s clothes that she dropped off last week. They told us it’s not ready yet and they need 20 more minutes. They shouldn’t have told us to come today then.

The only reason I come here is because it’s so close to my house but after several bad experiences, I decide to give my business to other places. Like other Unilocalers said they never get it done as they promised. Out of 6 – 7 times I brought my clothes there, it was probably only one time that they got it done on time.
Most of the time, it wasn’t done and they would ask me to wait 5 — 10 mins so they could do it right away. So don’t believe them if they promise next day NEVER !!! and if they ask to wait for 5 – 10 minutes it would be 15 – 20 mins.
But my worst experience is when they mistakenly gave my friend’s jean to someone else. That time when we came to pick up his Polo jeans, the younger lady could not find it. We were so upset because she kept promising that it would be done the next day after I had waited for more than a week, stopped by her store three times.
Long story short, my friend finally got his jeans after 5 weeks. And the lady still charged us $ 4 for hemming it… SMH

This used to be my go-​to place for dress alterations. Very affordable and the ladies do a good job. My altered dresses fit perfectly each time.
But now, their prices are very inconsistent. They seem to want to charge me something different every time, even though its just a basic hem. And not just something «different» but from $ 4 to now $ 15 to $ 20. Sure the economy is down, but to increase prices to more than 200%?! And to add to that, they are always late. They tell me to come back in 5 days. But I come back in 10 days and my items are still unfinished. I’m actually here right now waiting outside for them to rush and finish my 1 item I brought in last week!
The workers here are very nice so I thought I would keep giving them another chance each time, but no thankssss!

I’ve had countless pants and jeans hemmed here since 2006 and have always been satisfied with the craftsmanship. The turnaround is typically within a day or two; but, if you’re in a hurry you can specify a more specific timeframe. I’m hard pressed to recommend another shop with their price point.

I’ve been taking my pants here to get hemmed for quite some time now. The only reason I go here is because my mom recommended this place and the owner is a relative of ours. The actual owner (older lady) will do a good job on your clothes. If it is anyone else working on your clothes, then good luck.
This last experience I had here will probably be the last time I will ever go here. I took my pants in to get hemmed. The other lady told me I can pick up my pants the next day. I’ve never had any problems before when they promised it’ll be done when promised since I usually never pick up until a week later. This time though, I need to pick up these pants to get dry cleaned before a wedding in a few days. I walked in they didn’t even know what color or where my pants were. When she found my pants she told me to wait five minutes for my pants. Guess what? She started working on my pants that instant! So if this was such a simple job that takes only five minutes to do, why did you not have it ready as promised?
Having the pants ready was the least of my worries at this point. It didn’t bother me too much but I was a little worried she might be rushing the work. These are my next expensive wool pants I bought and expect you to put in some effort when working on them. This was the last straw for me.
If you need to take your clothes here, try to make sure the owner works on them herself. Otherwise, I’d find a place that’s more organized and actually do care about the quality of work they do.

They do good work, especially the owner herself, and the price is really cheap. I have come here for many years for pant hemming or repairs — jeans, shirts, re-​lined a favorite purse, taken things in, etc.
The only downside (which is compensated by the quality and price) is their total lack of organization. Most of the time when I show up on the supposed date of completion they haven’t finished and I have to wait around or come back, and they always have to hunt for the stuff. Ms Mai is usually pretty good, but the other lady it is more like ¾ times I come.
They are nice ladies though, sometimes when my repair jobs have been really simple Mrs. Mai fixes it immediately and won’t even charge me. I’ve tried other tailors in Little Saigon, Korea Town, and where I used to live near West LA. and Mai Ninh does by far the best work at a total fraction of the other folks price. You can’t tell that the item was fixed, it just looks like it was bought from the store that way or it was never damaged by an overzealous laundry machine.
(The compulsive side of my personality totally wants to go in there with a few hundred dollars worth of organizational shelves from the Container Store.)

my friend has this rule for dresses (to go out and partayyy; stand up straight, rest your arms at your side with your hands and fingers against your leg — your dress cannot be longer than your fingertips.
keeping this rule in mind, i took my 2-​inch above knee length dress here and asked them to hem it a few inches shorter.
simple task, and nice people (an older and younger woman). they had my dress done 2hrs later and it only cost $ 5! i’ll be coming back here for all my hemming needs.

I have been here several times. They always ask when I need it by and they say it’ll be ready that day. But every time I come to pick it up, I find they haven’t even started yet. I always wait at least an hour for my clothes to finish. Their work is fine but I don’t appreciate waiting every time, especially when I tell them the absolute latest I need it by.

A sweet old vietnamese lady that does your tailoring. She can do it right then and there if you request it of her & and its simple enough. But generally its a few days wait.

1. They did mess up one of my hems. I did not see it until I started wearing the pants regularly. My fault for not pointing it out when it was given back to me.
2. This place seems more for the simplistic tailoring, but its only my guess.
Conclusion: Great to do simple tailoring. Explore the complex tailoring and place a review on Unilocal for all to know. Definitely recommend.

My mom takes all of our pants that need altering here, the lady that works there is so nice and their prices are pretty cheap. My mom gets her jeans altered for about 3 or 4 bucks a pair, I think that’s pretty cheap. She does the tailoring really well and you can’t even tell that it was fixed.
