Hired Katie B to do my make up three years ago for my wedding she was expensive but I knew she’d be worth it so I saved up. I showed her a picture of what I wanted done and she nailed it! My hair came out Amazing stood all night and my makeup stood as well. I would definitely recommend Katie’s services.

I found Katie B during Myspace days and I told myself that when I got married, she would be the one to do my makeup. The work that I saw on her previous brides were phenomenal. I booked her before we booked our venue! Before the big day, Katie requested that I send her photos of makeup looks and hair styles that I liked. She even called me a few days before to go over it. When she and Shaun arrived at the hotel, they were on time and proceeded to set up right away. She is so professional and is a true artist. If a single hair was out of place, she would fix it and she made sure that I was happy with my over all look. My makeup lasted ALL DAY. And after the wedding, because I had too much fun, I ended up sleeping in it (don’t ever do that) and it still looked great the morning after! Katie is also very personable and for an artist who is so sought after, has her own makeup line, is a realtor, a lawyer, a businesswoman, a wife, and a mother of two, it’s a quality that not many have. I would recommend her without reservations and you will not have any regrets booking her.

An old boss of mine told me 5 years ago that if I ever got married I HAD to have Katie B do my hair and make up. I never forgot that and after seeing Katie’s work I knew I HAD to have her for my wedding day!
Leading up to the wedding I couldn’t wait to show people Katie’s work online and everyone was equally impressed but even more so on the day of my wedding where Katie made me look like a bombshell!

Katie B did hair and makeup for both my cousin and sister’s wedding and I knew I HAD to book her for my engagement photo-​shoot hair and makeup! I contacted Katie via email and her staff was extremely quick to respond, answered all of my questions and setup an appointment at her beauty lounge. I showed Katie a few images of the look I had in mind for the day, but told her that I trusted her and let her work her magic! Katie really cares about the quality of her work and does not rush to finish. She even re-​did some makeup she was unhappy with! She is so good at what she does and makes sure you are happy with the finished product, which you will be!
Our engagement photo-​shoot was at the beach, but my hair and makeup was able to withstand the weather the entire day! THANK YOU so much Katie, you made me look and feel so beautiful and I did not want to take off my makeup that day! If I didn’t have a destination wedding, I would definitely have booked Katie for my wedding day as well!

I booked Katie B to do my makeup for my wedding and it was probably one of the best decisions I have made. When I first inquired about making an appointment, she was quick in responding and lucky for me, she was available.
She had asked me to send pictures of myself and the types of look I was interested in for the wedding. That was quite thoughtful of her on wanting to keep you looking natural yet adding her personal artistic touches.
I was quite nervous when I went in for a makeup trial since it was the first time I had my makeup done by a professional. But upon meeting her, she was so personable that I felt like she was a friend rather than just feeling like a client.
Her professionalism shows through her work. After the trial, I had my engagement shoot. Katie asked for some pictures of the photo shoot to see if there were any changes needed for the day of the wedding.
The day before the wedding, she even called me to confirm the appointment and gave tips on what to do.
Katie and her hubby Shaun were quite a delight to have on my wedding day. They arrived earlier then expected and started setting up right away. She was very professional and at the same time very pleasant to have around. She was quite chatty and made me feel at ease while she did my hair and makeup. She would ask what I like, gave her inputs and did her thing.
She was quite a perfectionist, taking her time working on my eyes. She did an excellent job making my eyes look even, considering I only have a double eyelid on one side of my eyes. When she was done, you would have never known one of my eyes were bigger then the other.
After she was done with my hair and makeup, she was so sweet to stick around to help me when I was attempting to put my wedding dress on and taking pictures. Thank god she was so considerate and attentive. My sister was trying to tighten my wedding dress to a point that I probably would have fainted half way into my wedding day. Luckily Katie was there to kindly suggest my sister let go of the strings. =)
My makeup lasted all through the day and night. Even after my drunken night, I still woke up to a perfect face without even needing a touchup. The quality of her makeup is impeccable.
Thank you Katie and Shaun for helping me feel extra special during my wedding day. If I ever need to get my makeup done professionally again, hands down you would be my first and only choice!!!

WOOHOO! Katie B is as good as it gets! I have been obsessed with Katie for so many years that I’ve lost count! She’s one of a kind and the true definition of a professional makeup artist. She’s diverse and can work with all different types of clients. Furthermore, she has a standard of professionalism that everyone in the industry should aspire to! Every time I see her, I love her more. She’s the best!!!

I just realized I wrote my original review on another Unilocal account that I’m actively not using so it got filtered to unreliable review. That’s not fair especially to one of the most hardworking team I know, Katie and Shaun… I was browsing the web for a makeup artist & a hairstylist for my May 2011 wedding. I came across Katie’s page on wedding wire and right off I knew she was the one. I sent her an email to see if she was available for my day… In less than 8 hrs, i got a response and sure enough… she was booked months in advance. The weekend of my wedding, she was scheduled to be in the bay area for back to back weddings. Boo! I seriously considered switching my date. If I wasn’t going to have her for my wedding, I figured I’d book her for a boudoir session instead. She was able to fit me in her busy schedule. It was so much fun shopping for cute outfits and accessories! Katie has impeccable taste. She has tons of ideas and assisted in choosing different styles. Katie and her husband, Shaun, got to the hotel 15 min early. As soon they got there, they started setting up. Katie is so sweet. I was very nervous because I’m just a normal person and this girl does makeup for playboy and celebrities. However, Katie was down to earth and we talked as if we’ve known each other for a long time. Shaun and Katie are an awesome team. Katie coached me on how to pose and smile. I was amazed how detailed they both were. They really know which angle looks good… Every hair strand had to be in place as Shaun would point out to Katie to fix. It was nice to feel like a model (I’m so NOT) even for a day. Poor Katie was still pregnant with their first child, the whole time no breaks she was on her feet trying to make sure Shaun had good shots every pose. They worked the whole time. I was so tired by the end and I asked if we could finish. Katie sent me an amazing teaser the next day. I couldn’t wait to see the rest. Sure enough, Shaun captured so many awesome shots it was so hard to choose just a few. My makeup looked flawless. I also loved how my hair looked in all the shots that I had to order Katie’s hair extensions to use for my wedding. She hand makes them and it’s real hair like the ones celebrities use. Now I know why their hair has so much volume and looks so healthy on TV and magazines. I was so happy I scheduled this session with her and Shaun. It was liberating, relaxing and therapeutic… Especially before the wedding. I was able to do something for ME! Katie is so sweet. She has become an awesome friend. My go to person for style advice… She didn’t get her real-​estate license in time before I purchased my house. Otherwise she would’ve been my Realtor.
Since then, I’ve booked two more sessions with Katie and Shaun. I think that says a lot. She’s quick to respond to emails and gives you her honest opinion. If you’re looking for a professional and want to feel like a star for your special day… book Katie.

I have been obsessed with Katie B’s work for YEARS! Im talking Myspace days lol. When I first saw her work, I already knew that the day I got married… Katie B was going to be the one to do my makeup! Her before and afters were AMAZING and I really couldn’t think of another makeup artist that could truly transform people the way she did. That’s why people call her work «plastic surgery without surgery» haha.
So when I got engaged on March 7, 2015… I hit up Katie B real quick. Im going to keep it real. I knew she was expensive but when I inquired I was still shocked about the price, but like I said… I was not going to let anybody else touch my face on the biggest day of my life. I did low key look around on social media for other makeup artists but there really wasn’t anybody else who could do what she does.
Im not rich by any means but I knew that it would be worth it. I booked her for makeup, hair (down/​wavy/​curled). I did not do a trial with her because it was pricy and she said most brides dont get it anyways… I was also already familiar with her work and felt comfortable not doing it. I kept going back and fourth with deciding on whether or not I should get extensions because they were super expensive as well. Katie also does not allow you to use your own or others extensions because shes not sure of the type and quality and of course it could affect her work so I understood her reasoning. At the end I decided that my hair was too thin and would need the extensions and decided to get them at the LAST minute! Katie was very nice and understanding with this last minute change. She even called me the week before and told me that based on my current hair color, that I would need to color it again because it was so washed out and yellow that she wouldn’t be able to match it. At first I was a bit concerned because it would be hard to find a good colorist this late in the game. Katie then reffered me to a friend of hers… this amazing colorist who was not only super affordable, friendly and was able to squeeze me it… but she what she knew was doing and toned my hair down to what I wanted! Yay!
Booking was easy. She emailed me a contract right away. With her being so busy I was surprised with how quickly she responded. (Tip: I noticed she replies late at night so that might be a good time to get a hold of her). If she didn’t respond personally, one of her assistants would respond just as promptly. I paid a 50% deposit with check and paid the remaining balance in cash the day of the wedding. All the transactions were smooth and professional and I felt comfortable paying her a big amount upfront.
Day of the wedding:
Katie and her husband Shaun arrived at the Waterfront Hilton in HB approx 15 minutes past our initial meeting time, but it was because she went to hotel next door. I didn’t mind because I made the same mistake before and understood how that area was a bit confusing. It didn’t matter because Katie is straight business and she got to work on my maid of honor right away! Shes a boss at what she does and shes sweet and friendly… but at the same time she is a true professional and perfectionist and really means business. She was also able to finish me up 15 minutes earlier than said. So yes she is a magician lol. She went through my makeup bag and got familiar with my skin tone and my makeup style. I’ve had my face done by several makeup artists before and NONE of them have ever made me look, or make me feel like «myself». And I would ALWAYS have to add more eyeliner because for some odd reason they felt I didnt need it. Lets be real… there are some girls that dont need eyeliner and there are some that NEED it… and I am the type that NEEDS it! Hahas! I told Katie about that when she asked me what I liked and didnt like about other artists work. I love that she asked me that because she did my eyes exactly how I wanted even though it might have been more eyeliner than other brides would want. But Katie did exactly what I wanted and I loved it! She even used a dark red lipstick on me just like I wanted… total opposite of the typical brides who want a nude or a light pink lip… but she did it anyways and it turned out perfect!!! My fiancé (then), husband now… even complimented me on my hair and makeup when he saw me at church! And thats a shocker because he’s real blunt and has HATED my makeup that all the artists did on me previously lol. He said I looked liked myself and not an alien or a clown hahahas!
Her husband Shaun was even kind enough to make a special last minute run for my hair extensions while she was doing my makeup lol. I felt bad that he had to go out on a mission just to get them but thats another reason why they truly are a dream team! Epic customer service! Overall, I have no regrets about hiring Katie B… she is worth every freakin penny and I am glad to have her be a part of my special day… and also gained a friend

Eep, a 4! I think I’m the first one. Overall Katie did a really good job and she was great to work with. But I just wasn’t completely satisfied in the end. I think the biggest reason why I wasn’t satisfied was because I didn’t do a trial. While that was my choice, I made it because her trial is practically the same price as the day of. When I was contacting her, she said that a lot of her clients chose to forgo the trial, so I was fairly confident. But on the day of, I wish I knew how it would turn out, so I could have asked her to straighten the roots of my hair before she began and probably not teased it quite so much. I loved my makeup, and would give that a 5. But my hair, I thought looked frizzier than I would have liked and I’m frustrated because I think it could have been avoided if she had straightened it a bit before she started. I did tell Katie that I didn’t like how frizzy it looked, and she did what she could to fix it, but as I didn’t really see the hair until the end, it was a little bit too late. I know it was a humid day, and I do have generally frizzy hair, but when I straighten it, it looks a lot better.
I do think that if you are spending this much on hair and makeup, a trial should be made just a little bit more affordable, because you really can figure a lot out from one. There is just no way I would have spent roughly $ 700 on a trial. I really wanted to give her 5 stars and I was probably the least worried and most excited to work with her, but I was ultimately left somewhat disappointed.

Katie’s talent and professionalism exceeded my expectations on my big day. Before my hair and makeup appointment, Katie contacted me to ask of my expectations, provided her expert opinion, and from our chat, knew exactly what I envisioned in my head on the type of look I was aiming for.
The day of my appointment, Katie was on time for our early 7am appointment (sorry so early Katie! :)) and once my hair and makeup were done, I felt beautiful AND comfortable with how I looked. Since I don’t wear alot of makeup on a daily basis, I was worried about looking too made up, but Katie, being the professional she is, worked her magic and made me look and feel like a celebrity version of myself and without looking like I had layers of makeup on!

Katie, Katie, Katie… where do I begin! I’ve been a fan of Katie B.‘s work for over 10 years after I first found her on MySpace (yes, that long ago. haha), and I was blown away by her flawless results and transformations. I told myself that if/​when I got married, I would definitely book her as my MUA, and I kid you not she was the first person I contacted once my fiancé and I locked down our venue.
From my first few e-​mails with her to the day of the wedding, she was very responsive and professional. She requested the looks and styles I was looking for in advance, and made me feel beautiful even without meeting me in person. She sounded very confident in the look that I wanted to achieve, which gave me a lot of reassurance since I didn’t book a trial with her before the wedding.
The morning of my big day, she arrived with her big smile and big make-​up boxes and I couldn’t have been more excited! Katie and her husband made me feel so at ease and asked questions about my «wants» and made suggestions along the way. She truly is an artist and your face is her canvas. I’ve used other MUAs for various events but I’ve never felt more beautiful and confident than on my wedding day. She has a way of bringing out the glow that every bride wants! I even asked about air-​brushing, but let me tell you… you don’t need it when Katie works on your face. My make-​up was smooth and flawless, and did not budge throughout the entire day. Even after 10 hours of many happy tears and sweating, my face and hair looked immaculate! I didn’t even want to wash my face after the wedding b/​c I was so sad to erase her work. haha

I had gotten my eyebrows tattooed when I was 18 and again when I was 23 by two different «professionals». These «professionals» drew the most sharpied lookalike, uneven, discolored eyebrows known to man. Because I had seen two different «professionals» and my eyebrows still looked cartoonish, I had given up and lost hope. A few years later (about a year ago today) I decide to Unilocal!someone and go off their reviews and, man, am I thankful that I did. Because of Unilocal!and its helpful reviews I was able to find Katie.
Katie is one of the most professional, one of a kind, amazing women that I have ever encountered that not only exceeded my expectations, but delivered the highest caliber of work that I’ve seen to date. All of the pictures that she posts online are truly that amazing! At first I thought she was using stencils to shape the eyebrows because they were just too good to be true but come to find out, all of her work is free-​hand. Katie is a TRUE artist that helped restore my confidence by correcting the traumatizing tattoos that were previously done on me by other «professionals».
She is patient, a great listener when it comes to listening to your expectations, and a perfectionist in her work – which is a great thing! When you are with Katie, she is not distracted, works with your desired eyebrow shape, and isn’t pushy on any recommendations she has. Instead, she will work with you for HOWEVER LONG IT TAKES until you are satisfied with the outcome, and this means hours on end! She is definitely a professional in her work, but what’s truly special about Katie is her sociable and pleasant attitude. She speaks to you as if you’ve been friends for years, which makes the overall experience relaxing and comfortable. If you are considering Katie for your wedding makeup and hair I have two words: DO IT!!! NOW!
Okay so that’s three words, but seriously do it now because she books up fast and you don’t want to miss out on the best MUA out there. Here’s why… look at her before and after pictures, she has an eye for beauty and will bring out the best in you so that you look and feel like a million dollars. That is priceless on your wedding day! I can tell you that I was very worried when it came to hair and makeup because I have a larger nose, and I wanted to have my hair to the side for my wedding. Needless to say, I was worried that if done wrong, this could be a potentially very unflattering look for me. Katie made it work because she does her homework BEFORE your appointment.
I had a different MUA for my engagement pictures, and my experience was that before they meet with you they ask you to send inspiration pictures of how you would like your hair and makeup to look like. This is a good approach, but I feel like it’s not personalized enough. Katie went the extra mile and asked me to send her a picture of myself with my usual makeup on on top of the usual makeup inspiration pictures. I LOVED that she did that because it made me feel like she was truly preparing and taking me as a client seriously. She made the look work for ME, since what looks good on one person doesn’t necessarily look good on everyone else.
On the day of, she arrived on time and made me feel at ease. She is very down to earth and easy to talk to. It almost felt like getting ready with a friend, which is very comforting on a high stress day such as your wedding. She uses her own makeup line, Katie B Cosmetics, which is now my favorite. I definitely recommend her concealer, foundation, highlighter stick, and baked mineral powder. It makes your skin look flawless and doesn’t have that cake-​y feeling to it. I had my makeup done at 10 AM, and after crying tears of joy multiple times throughout my ceremony and reception and even through hours of dancing and one crazy after party, my makeup still looked flawless at 3 AM when I finally had to take it off before bed. My hair also held the style throughout that entire time and actually still looked good the next day.
All of that being said, I will admit her prices are a bit high. However, it’s the one place I would HIGHLY recommend that you splurge because when it’s all over your photos are all that will be left of your wedding day, and if you want to look your best, Katie B is your girl! Totally worth every single penny, and if I had to do it all over again I would!

After the hair was curled and ready, she moved me by the window in my room to apply makeup. First, she used all her own mineral makeup line. Second, she is the master of makeup «plastic surgery.» I have a very flat and round Asian face. I have always wanted the illusion of a smaller face, taller nose (bridge), and bigger eyes. She again confirmed my desired look and made sure it was okay to do a dark smokey eye. She made great recommendations and I trusted her professional judgement. She showed me the progression of the look but assured me everything would tie in at the end. I never felt worried and was actually very at peace. In the end, the results were absolutely amazing. I could not believe my eyes. I did not even recognize myself (not an understatement). I wanted to enhance my look with colored contacts but was scared to put them in my eyes with the makeup already applied. Katie took me in the bathroom, and popped them in within seconds; in a standing position. Ya, she is that awesome.
Makeup preservation: since crying a flood and melting my face off was my primary concern, she gave me instructions on how to preserve the look without smudging/​ruining the look. I was a bit doubtful because I am such an awful cry baby but she assured me it would be okay. I purchased the lip color from her for touch up and that was it. I had no compact or anything for that matter with me on the big day. Now you know why I was so concerned.
Ceremony & reception: As expected, I cried to no end before, during and after the ceremony. Yep, the flood gates just would not close. My maid of honor kept on coaching me on Katie’s preservation technique to ensure my face stayed on and I was presentable throughout the night.
End of the night: Through salty all the salty tears and sweat, my makeup stayed like white on rice with very minimal defects. While all my bridesmaids faces melted off with sweat, mine was still looking fresh without any touch ups or trips to the bathroom. (Only lip color was used for touch up)
Conclusion: this is your wedding day and an investment of good quality makeup, work and professionalism is what all brides deserve. You get what you pay for just does not cut it. Katie’s work speaks for itself and I have no regrets going with her. I felt like a million bucks in my big day. I will love you forever for giving me my desired «cosmetic surgery enhancements» without going through the pain and burning a hole in my wallet. Thank you so, so much Katie.

Katie’s work is amazing. When I got engaged I knew I just had to get her to do my hair and makeup for our big day. I would show my husband and tell him I need to get her for the wedding he would say wow «yes, you should get her, her work is great !!! «
She is really punctual, she got to the hotel right on time with her lovely husband :) they are both super sweet persons with great attitudes and hearts. Both helped me keep calm.
I wasn’t sure really what I wanted I just knew it had to be WOW. I explained what I wanted and she went beyond my expectations. I felt like a QUEEN on my wedding day. I had a lot of compliments. I had the most beautiful experience with her (and her husband) on my wedding day! I adored my make up and hair, it was gorgeous in real life as well as in pictures!
I wish I could relive my wedding day over and over again, one reason would also be that I spent the morning being glammed up by the amazing Katie B. I would say I am super picky just like every bride and I could not be any happier with the way looked, I felt gorgeous as a bride and this feeling is priceless! I wanted my make up to look super light and natural yet elegant and glamorous and my hair to look effortless. Katie did exactly that and so much more.
She is not only incredibly talented, she is also a pure delight to be around, which made booking her as my make up artist the best decision I could have made!!!
