Avellino’s Pizza

The menu says «Rigatoni with Broccoli Rabe» then a brief description of the pasta dish. Choice of grilled chicken breast or Italian sausage with broccoli rabe, sautéed in garlic and olive oil. I waited 30 minutes, paid 12 and change for it, go home open it up and there’s no meat in there. I called back, they told me I didn’t ask for it. I said the description on the menu says «CHOICE of grilled chicken breast or Italian sausage. They wouldn’t budge. So for 12 and change I paid for Rigatoni and broccoli rabe. Never going back. This exact same dish is called Penne alla Campagniola at Lia’s pizzeria and the sausage is in there automatically for the same price. Another thing, Avellino’s broccoli rabe was mostly stems, very little leaves, and the stems were undercooked… indigestible.

With all the pizza to choose from in the area, this should be last on the list. Their service is terrible, both times I ordered from them they took well over an hour and a half to deliver my food. When it finally arrived it was ice cold. I can easily say this was the last time I order from them.

Used grub hub to order a chicken cutlet hero for delivery and I received just a few dry pieces of plain chicken on a hero. I was expecting it to come with lettuce & tomatoes as it says.

I’ve tried this place on more than one occasion. Simply because I literally live around the corner from it. But I simple thing, like a chicken roll. Is just plain horrible. Raw dough, too much cheese and not enough chicken. This is why I rather take the ride up to umbertos

My family and I are Native to Franklin square and have been frequent customers of Avelilino’s for the past few years. Last night we ordered pizza, picked it up, and brought it home. We bite into the pizza and realized that the whole bottom was burnt to crisps. Completely black. We returned the pizza and ordered another one thinking that the staff was decent enough to give us another pie for free since the 1^st one was inedible. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. I returned the pizza missing 2 slices, leaving 6 slices. Instead of replacing the burnt pizza which I returned more than half of, they gave me a measly 5 $ off on the fresh one I ordered.
Not only did they not refund my money for the original pie but they charged me another 10 dollars for the second one. AWEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Lost a very very loyal customer. Will never visit this location again.

Ordered the chicken rollatini stuffed with proscuitto ricotta, and mushrooms. It consisted of breaded fried ricotta with 1 little bite of chicken in the entire tin. Never found a bite o proscuitto or a mushroom. Their pies are good, but their entrees are not worth the money. I don’t know how they thought they could pass this off as a chicken entrée. Not even 1 ounce of chicken.

If I could give negative stars I would. Decided to have a simple order through seamless. Called up to make sure they received the order and received confirmation it was in and on its way. One hour later still nothing called the hostess she said backed up but no problem. 2.5 hours go by call up and get attitude from the hostess stating they never received the seamless order. Are you kidding me. The intelligent manager gets on and says we are backed up and have had multiple orders and the delivery man was in a car accident. This has nothing to do with being incompetent. Not only do I receive attitude but guess what no delivery man was in an accident cause I called the next day to see if the manager was lying. The whole business is unprofessional, liars to cover for themselves, and the most incompetent hostess in the history of restaurants. Plenty of other good pizza places. Avoid this place and you will be happy!

I would like to update my review on Avellino’s as a change in ownership has turned this place around. The new owner has made some minor, but meaningful changes.

Two for tuesday special off of a very limited menu that gets smaller every few months. Well I ordered 2 meatball parms for $ 7.50 and was quoted $ 9.00 ok so I see they charge tax for both lmao ok. So I pick them up and guy at counter is in mid conversation with another customer not hardly acknowledges me rings me up im on my way. Will not be back

I felt like Kevin Mcallister eating pizza today… Even the counter boy reminded me the little neros delivery guy! Nether the less the pizza was amazing!

Pizza is okay, but customer service is lacking. It was fairly busy when I walked in and the cashier took my order for a plain slice and a soda. I get my drink, I sit and wait. A big group that was ahead of me gets their slices. Then the guy who ordered after me gets his pie and walks out. Meanwhile, the cashier wanders to the back of the shop and starts staring at the assembled pizza boxes. The guy heating up the slices looks around and sees me, but just goes back to putting pepperonis on another pie. I tell him that I’m still waiting for my slice and his immediate response is, «Did you tell the cashier your order?» I say yes and he acts like it’s a big deal to shove another pizza in the oven.
The sauce on the pizza is a little too salty and the crust is on the thin side. The only plus was that it was cheap, $ 2.50 for a plain slice and a 20 oz. bottle of Coke.

This place really does have unbelievable customer service! On 2 different occasions they’ve pissed me off. First time was a couple years ago when it opened and i needed a job, they had a help wanted sign in the window so i went in to see whats up and the guy working the counter was rude and said they dont need me. Well take ur «help wanted» sign out the window then. Now fastfoward to this year i ordered from them because they did have good specials all week. friend goes in to pay with a credit card and the guy goes «you really dont have cash.?» Friend only had his card so after the guy swiped it or w. e he threw it back at my friend… All i can say is hes my friend picked it up and not me cause i wouldve thrown that hot pizza in his face!!! Disgrace to customer service learn how to treat ur customers

Real good pie, the owner is accommodating but most the rest of the staff are in need of a crash course in how to treat people that are in your place of employment, which, by the way pays your salary. If you sign-​up you receive specials on Wed. and Fri. Which in general are good deals. If the staff were better an additional star would be warranted.

I think it is awful when the owner of the business doesn’t care about customer service. They offer daily specials and also the convenience of placing the order online which is good, but this is the 2^nd time that I had a problem with the online ordering not reflecting the special thats offered for the day and when I call the business the owner advice me that certain specials you have to call and not do online because its to much trouble and it doesn’t come in correctly, when I asked the amount and it wasn’t the same amount I came out with he became very belligerent and also advice me he has other phone calls to take and not going over the order and if we want to cancel then cancel. Its terrible when a business owner feels that you need the business and not that the business needs you. Please consider good customer service when spending your hard earned money.

Excellent food, customer service, reasonable prices, prompt delivery, and friendly folks = a happy broke college student.
Definitely recommend their chicken dishes and calamari. Don’t forget to tip the delivery guy nicely! :) they’re the best!

My family loves the food here. We order pizza, heros, salads, etc… and we loved it all. They (the staff) are friendly and ready to please. I would recommend giving it a try. You will not be unhappy. :)
