TownePlace Suites Galveston Island

SO… this hotel is located BEHIND the Marriott Courtyard so WARNING. you will have to go through the Courtyards Parking lot to get to this hotel.
At first I thought that there wasn’t much parking for the hotel, but found a lot of empty spots UNDER the hotel in its parking garage.
Great Friendly staff greeted us with a warm welcome and explained everything they have to offer during our check-​in process. We got a room with 2 queen beds and a somewhat view of the coast. 3^rd floor. The room was very spacious with a nice little kitchenette. Very clean room and looks as though the hotel was recently updated. We didn’t like the AC unit as it is one of the old below the window units that they connected to a thermostat, needless to say it didn’t really keep the room at the temperature that we set it at and was kind of on the loud side as it ran most of the night. After check-​in we decided to walk to the Courtyard and get something to eat at their Bistro since this hotel didn’t have anything except snacks they sold.
The hotel offers a FREE shuttle surface to anywhere on the island. The is a Plus for us as now we don’t have to pay for parking at the Moody Gardens where the Cheer Competition is located.
Breakfast was the typical Hotel FREE continental breakfast, Eggs, Egg patty, sausage, cheese, Waffle maker, Juice etc… I can’t complain as it was FREE. Limited seating but that is typical of this size of hotel.
Over all I give them 4 stars for this hotel…

We stayed in early December, one night in the two bedroom suites which was awesome! My toddler grandson and I stayed in one room with my daughter and her husband in the other. There was plenty of room for all with no feeling of getting into each other’s space. It was clean, well decorated with the kitchen filled with all that we would need. I also liked that they use Paul Mitchell hair products! Breakfast was fine all the makings of egg sandwiches, ceral and fruit, the coffee could have been better. The pool was great! We happened to choose the warmest day in December to arrive so we visited the pool which was totally awesome. It was set up perfectly and was suited for toddlers with a landing (not sure the correct term) so he was safe walking around and it was heated as well, so we were all very happy! The staff at this hotel were the best, we were made to feel right at home and we will definitely be back to stay here again! Oh! Great front desk service! Friendly and efficient. Would be five stars except for the limited handicapped parking. Breakfast was plentiful and varied from day to day. Comfortable, clean rooms and great bed.

Well I’m really not an expert on writing reviews but for the potential travelers you may think about this location twice. If you are reserving the king suite w sofa bed (and you will be using the sofa bed for kiddos like me) be expected to wake up the person you’re sharing the bed if you need a midnight potty break. You have to climb to the other side for you to get out of bed, the sofa bed is so close you will not be able to walk through there. If you think about breakfast I suggest you utilize the kitchen cause if you go to the breakfast provided ¾ of the time its empty pans/​trays. You are bumping elbows trying to get anything. Need a good professional remodeling not some ugly patching like I have noticed around the location. Good customer service was greeted very kindly. I believe I will try another one next time.

Just a quick weekend getaway and this hotel suited our needs. We did not spend much time hanging out at the hotel but did like it’s location being farther down the seawall. There were no towels in our room when we arrived, we had to ask for a new shower curtain due to the obvious dried vomit on the current one, tv service was intermittent. Staff was nice and apologetic to the issues so that was appreciated. Not bad for a quick trip but it sure I would want to stay again.

Nice size room, pretty decent beds, and good clean kitchen! Close to the beach.
Walls were dirty and dust on lamps but overall nice.

Cheap, Cheap, Cheap, chirping your language? New property relative speaking already looks 10 years old. Furnishings, bed minimal, the Courtyard is a step up. Each room has a kitchenette, but no safe. A bowl of something was left in the microwave, no stars for cleanliness. There are 88 rooms. Requested a room on the 4^th floor, shuttle driver suggested I would be sleeping on top of the building, there are only 3 floors. It was full on a Saturday night, on the lowest rung of a Marriott chain.
Only one staff assisting check-​ins, took 30 minutes, no courtesy check out. Pet friendly gets a star, thus the reason I stayed here. Free Wi-​Fi gets a star.
Not parking friendly. Cruise folks are taking up all the parking spots, even a one night stand would be unable to park, took longer to drive around the property to find a spot in a dank and dark corner opposite of the entrance.
Weak security, no view, hiking to the beach is good cardio. Rate $ 99.00 on weekend and $ 79.00 week days. Breakfast is a joke, a boiled egg and a bagel. BADDDDD coffee, advertised Starbucks but that is at the property next door. Lower your expectations.

We were taking a cruise out of Galveston. This hotel is clean and had a nice, comfortable room. Breakfast was your typical continental with some additions.
We were pleased to find out that the hotel offers a free shuttle to the port for our cruise, and they allow you to leave your car here while you are on the cruise. This is a huge savings and very convenient. We will come here again.

Honestly I was a little disappointed in this hotel. First off, it’s advertised as beachfront, and it simply isn’t. It’s across the street from the ocean but there is a courtyard directly in front of it. So you can’t see the ocean just the back of another hotel. We also had issues with the stupid elevators in this place… not something you would normally complain about but it was so irritating! You press down it takes you to the top and only some of the elevators go to the Parking garage so you have up wait until the right one opens. Also, we had the maid knocking on our door at 7:40 am and I asked her to come back in 30 minutes and they did not show back up until 5:45 pm! Very annoying, we came back from the beach and had no towels and the room still had not been cleaned. We ended up checking out early and leaving for home even though we had already paid for that night.

Loved this hotel. Located away from the noisy touristy part of the seawall further down several miles where it feels serene. Although it is gulf front, there is no sandy beach directly across, just the large rocks where fisherman tend to roost. But this keeps things low key on this section on the island.
Hotel is new and everything is in tip top condition. Continental breakfast is adequate, coffee is good. Dining area got kinda crowded. But for me, unknowingly, the pool became my favorite place. We went every day for a couple of hours. Beautifully maintained, pretty views (there nothing next to one side of the hotel but a green lush birding habitat). Cabanas give the pool an upscale feeling, but there was no pretentiousness. Just a few folks chillin’ out and families swimming. Never crowded. Music playing from the 1950’s and 60’s…not bad music, nostalgic. There is a bar at the pool and they serve food too! I had a chicken club wrap with fries. So nice to eat poolside and relax… oh, and the waterfall in the pool gives it a resort feeling. My 2 year old loved the zero entry and different landings the pool offered to play on. Is very nice for parents with babies and toddlers.
Hotel room a touch small even for a studio king, but we weren’t in there much anyway. Full kitchen which is a plus and under the hotel parking kept my car cooled off.
We will definitely stay here again.
