Every time I come home to Galveston I have to have a shrimp burger. This place has random/inconvenient hours, but I don’t care. The food is soooo awesome and so are the baked goods! You must try the shrimp burger and a piece of crack pie.

I’ve seen the ads for the Shrimp Burger at Chopin Mon Ami and they got my taste buds on alert, so I had to try one. My previous meals from there have been carry-out evening meals, all home-cooking comfort food and quite satisfying. But for quite awhile now CMA has had a dining room in addition to their traditional take-out and catering so I decided to dine-in there. The place is airy and light with simple décor and plenty of seating. Ordering is at the counter, with food delivered to the table when ready. The owners are the staff and are very friendly and courteous. Food choices are multiple but we were there for one thing: our Shrimp Burgers. There are numerous choices of bread with the sandwiches – all baked on the premises – and a variety of vegetable sides. My friend and I both ordered our Shrimp Burgers, with whole wheat buns. I selected potato salad for my vegetable. What a fine lunch! The burger was almost all large chunks of shrimp, breaded enough to hold together in a grilled patty. Made me proud to be a Gulf Coast-er! Seasoning was satisfying and did not overwhelm the fresh shrimp taste. Warning: this is not a diet meal! One burger could easily be shared to two persons(although I consumed all of mine). Potato salad was just like mom used to make, only better. I do wish they had more green vegetable choices. We needed something sweet to top off our lunch. They had a wide offering of tasty and tempting baked good. We decided to go «light» and share a piece of Coca Cola cake. How perfect! It was a delicious as any I’ve had; ditto my buddy who has been known to bake a bit herself. Overall we had a great lunch, in a convivial atmosphere. Their food is down-home, simple, and good eats, whether you eat-in or take out.
