Toys-R Us

Went in to get a Radio Flyer toddler balance bike. Was immediately greeted when I came in. The place was very clean and organized. I was asked if I need help. I was directed where to go to find the balance bike I saw advertised online. They had plenty in stock. They did not have a model put out like the other bikes which would have been nice. They also said they charge $ 10 to put it together for you. I did not have them put it together for me and it was pretty easy to do at home. The advertised price in the store was $ 10 higher than online but they gave me the cheaper price. All the staff was very friendly and I was checked out quickly without having to wait in a long line like I would have at Walmart. I will go back for more toy purchases! Very happy with my visit!

It is tough to be in the toy industry. Their entire business is predicated on gift shopper procrastinator extraordinaire!
Toys-​R Us needs to reinvent themselves. I do not know how, but they have to do something.
Children just aren’t interested in toys anymore. They want to play apps on tablets. Video games are still a good choice, but that’s why we have Best Buy, Amazon, Target, Eb games. Anything you can get at Toys-​R Us, you can get cheaper elsewhere. Sorry Geoffrey, it’s true.
No one wants action figures anymore. No one wants Barbie, anymore; even if she is redesigned to look like the everyday woman. No one wants to play backyard games anymore! We want to stay in and veg out with veggie tales on netflix.
The last time I came here was probably two years ago. My friends and I were trying to make plans for the evening. We decided that the best way to spend our evening was Chipotle and Settlers of Catan (the most overrated board game) because that’s what all the cool kids are doing these days. We got our burritos then headed to Toys-​R Us. They were selling Settlers for MSRP– $ 50!!!
We bought it at Target instead for $ 45. Eh, whatever. We saved $ 5, the price of a half song lap dance at Booby Trap.
I can see the practicality of Toys-​R Us. i.e. you and three other nerds who have no girlfriend are desperate to play Settlers and do not have enough gas money to travel to Target for a slightly cheaper price… but other than that, there is no other use!

They are the worst and most unethical company!!! I will never recommend ordering from them again. I placed an order on the website in good faith, Over a week later the item still had not been shipped. But they had charged me for the item. I spent over 45 minutes on hold waiting for customer service and then another 30 trying to find out the status of the item. I could never get a straight answer on the status of the item. Received an email at 6:30 am this morning stating that the item is delayed and that if not shipped by 1÷8÷16 it would be cancelled. Funny that right above this statement it says 30 day policy, The date stated is 45 days from the original order date. When I finally got thru today after spending another 53 minutes on hold, another run around from the customer service agent and their supervisor all I have been told is that they have no idea if the item is even in stick and have put in a cancellation request in. This has to be done by another department and they cannot transfer me to them. So I still have no resolution and have to order from another company. Saving $$ is definitely not always they best way to go.
DO NOT ORDER ONLINE FROM THEM!!!

This review is geared towards the Toys R Us Express located inside of Lake Forest Mall.
My family and I visited the location today and it was HORRIBLE. We came in at around 5:30pm, mall closes at 6 on Sun, about 5 min after we came in we heard a woman yell «The store closes in 10min!» Which surprised us since we were only 1 of 2 smallfamilies in an otherwise empty store. About a min later the same woman came into the area where we were shopping and said «You have 10min» with the accompanying negative non verbal body laguage. I said «Yes, we heard you. Thank you.» to which she replied «Yea, whatever.» She then proceeded to «straighten» a shelf directly behind us while heavy sighing, sucking her teeth and eye rolling at us. Having never been in an Express location before, I asked her what the difference was between here and the regular stores. She responded by more eye rolling and stating «This is an EXPRESS. There’s a full size Toys R Us across the street. That’s why we have the name Express on the front of the store.» Which basically told me nothing. At this point, I asked her name which she said «I don’t need to tell you it’s on my name tag» when I asked to see her tag since her back was now facing me she said «When I’m done doing what I’m doing» I said «That’s fine. I can wait.» which she then replied «You do what you want». When she finally turned I saw her name was Charrese. I said thank you which she replied with another sarcastic «Whatever». From her interactions with the associates it was clear she was the manager on duty which makes this experience all the more disappointing. If this is how she treats customers I cannot fathom how she treats her employees. This location is a clear night & day from the full size store on Frederick Rd who has consistent excellent customer service considering their substantial volume and location. Needless to say, we’d rather spend another 10 min in line at the regular store with great customer service then 5 min with Charrese and her miserable team.

Do you think Toys R Us is just for toys? Think again, they have a larger selection of backpacks and lunch boxes than any retail chain locally. I looked through 6 rows of different characters on backpacks and lunch boxes. There were Minions, Barbies, Grover, Monster High style, and too many more than I could include in this review. Now, I have to say that because I have two granddaughters I did not give a lot of time to the boys styles, but they had a lot of them. If you buy a backpack for over $ 12.00, they will give you a Free lunchbox. That is quite a deal! The service was super and my salesperson was helpful. She told me I could get a second lunchbox, even though one of the bags had an attached lunchbox. That was so nice. They have a lot of other school supplies as well. I could not believe they were already out of zippered pencil cases. So, get there while the selection is still good.

My shopping experience was harass free and plenty of options.
However, the cashiers seemed to be little rude to be working at toy store. Flat face, emotionless, and unfriendly.
I got what I need, and wouldn’t come back unless I have to.

it seems the online Toys R Us store has way more items to choose from. Often times I have bought toys for my son that have a piece or 2 missing sue to someone opening the package in the store. I tend to do shopping here only when things are on sale cause I have often found that the same item here is $ 8-​$ 10 bucks cheaper at Walmart or Target.
What I don’t understand is the R US Rewards and what incentive you get from being a member. I have never received a coupon or anything in that nature from being a member. One thing I forgot is there are never enough cash registers open and its extremely hot within the store

Bad customer service
With a receipt can’t return a brand new item with full price cannot even a store credit with a full amount. Cheating. .. Never buy again for my nieces and nephews

Store was organized and associates were all very nice and so helpful. It carries half of what a normal babies r us and toys r us carries. Wished it was bigger! They were very helpful in ordering me a small item with free shipping in store.

I remember Toys R Us back when they had EVERYTHING a kid (or pre-​teen) would ever want. They had awesome models to build (like battleships from Revell) and just about anything else. I remember going to Toys R Us well into my early teens to buy that missing aircraft carrier or destroyer that would occupy me for hours… I don’t think kids do that anymore?
Sadly, over the decades, probably with how kids are nowadays in their things to play with… Toys R Us has bascially been dying a slow death… no matter which location you go to… they all have a… ehhhhh feeling?
The smell is what you notice first. The displays (end caps) are always empty. The sales signs are never correct…
A plus for them though, is the birthday club. Jason always gets his $ 3 coupon every year. When you buy x number of diaper boxes, you get one free… It’s been years since Jason used diapers, so I don’t know if they still do that promotion.
You are able to use the Babys R Us coupons interchangeably
I just hate going to Wal-​Mart or Target to get his toys nowadays, but what other choice do you have?

This store looks horrible in passing on the roads but finally I came to shop here and it was way worse than it looked. I tell you what, I am not a fan in general of Toys R Us but I’m a parent so it is inevitable to shop at one — but what I can control is to never EVER have to shop at this one. Its connected a crap hole Burlington Coat Factory… the set up is horrible and stank.
The people working there are not about helping a customer. They would rather ignore you then help you when you are waiting in there customer service line even though you just need to know where to find something or if they even carry it…
It is extremely dirty and it needs to be renovated seriously or closed down.

As a child, I thought this place was huge and awesome. Well duh, a store just for toys of course I thought it was awesome. But now as an adult and a parent… me thinks not.
The parking lot is awful and the entrance is inconvenient. The building itself should be renovated. I refuse to touch the carts with my bare hands they’re always dirty or broken. All the staff here look super annoyed to be here, even more when they must assist you or check you out.
And can someone tell me what is that smell? Did a kid pee in some corner in the 90’s and it was never cleaned up? Mold? Is it the cleaning solution they’re using?
While I do like that they have coupons but usually I have to spend $ 50 or more to actually make use of the coupon.
Whenever I go to check out there’s always only one or two, no more then three registers open… why is that when there are more than 10 lanes available? Come on Toys R Us utilize what you got!

It smells like pee. Not the faint and subtle smell of fresh pee, accidently spilled by a desperate 4 year old and embarassedly cleaned by a harried mother. No, this was the acrid and pungent pee of a hundred kids that has peed with impunity and no one cares enough to clean it up. Thick and sharp, I nearly ran away from this store in disgust.
But I was on a mission. Evidently, because I have a uterus, my office seems to think that I would be delighted to plan a baby shower. Obviously, they don’t know me at all. However, once I accepted the project, I had to see it through.
I wandered over to the baby section, where I was «helped» by a sales associate who couldn’t understand the word «baby rattle». I mean, she repeated it back to me like five times. «Baby cat?», «Bibby mantle?», «Bitty rat?»…if you can think of it, she uttered it. And no, she couldn’t help me find a frickin’ rattle.
So with the overpowering pee smell, and a sales associate who was auditorily and orally dyslexic, I’m still giving this place a 2 star rating because two different sales associates came up to me asking me if I needed any help without any prompting from me. Of course, by that point, I was running screaming out the door, so I didn’t take them up on their offer.

As a total aside that doesn’t impact their rating… as I was wandering through the store, I noticed a few things — someone help me out and explain this to me:
1) There were 3 little girls — probably no older then 7, that was wandering the store without any parents in sight. I know this is a toy store, but doesn’t anyone watch CSI or Criminal Minds or hell, even the news!!! You don’t leave your defenseless 7 year old child alone where pedophilacs are known to shop!
2) These same 3 little girls were having a conversation. They were by the Twilight display, and they were talking about how «hot» Jacob/​Edward was (what do 7 year olds know about hotness?), and more disturbing, they were discussing who would be «hotter in bed». WHAT WHAT!!!
3) Why is the «girl» section of the store filled with nothing but pink? And only dolls and clothes. Oh, and shopping carts, and food crafts (make your own gummy candy, sno cone, etc). However, the «boy» section of the store was all in blues, reds, yellows, and had everything from cars to dinosaurs to science kits to video games to… well…all the interesting toys. Seriously, I thought we left 1950 back in…1950! WTFOMGBBQ!!!
Yeah. I think I’m scarred for life. And if I should have kids, they are being brought up in a convent. Without TV or movies and definitely without Twilight. And they will play with non-​gender specific toys. Trust.
