Can’t say enough good things about this place and the people here. I always feel pampered and unique. I’ve taken both of my daughters and my mom — we have all had great experiences! Especially with Lindsay and Jasmine!

Lindsay did my hair. I had a cut and color. She did exactly what I asked. She got the shade of my hair perfect! She’s so easy to talk to and left me feeling and looking like a million bucks!
Tara did my eyebrows. She was amazing as well. Although I didn’t have as much time with her, she was great and easy to talk to.
Overall I loved my experience! I will definitely be back.

Amy is the BEST stylist and colorist I have ever had do my hair for me… Cuts a great angled bob. Amazing blonde full foil — always used at 2 shades/​tones and so many foils for a set price. I could go three (almost four months between appointments) because the highlights blended so well with my natural hair color. I went to her for four years and wish I could keep going, but have moved elsewhere. Clean and friendly service and the «no tipping» policy really assures you that the stylists do a GREAT job because they are passionate about their work and are already paid well :) (their overall price list may seem steep, but remember — it’s funding the stylist’s and others’ salaries!)

My sister suggested this place and so I stopped in looking for a consultation about a specific cut I wanted. The front desk set me up with Johanna. She spent a lot of time talking to me about the cut I wanted and gave me good opinions regarding whether the cut would really work for me. When I decided to make an appointment she said that she had time right then to do it. Great! When I went upstairs I noticed that all the stylists were spending time with their clients consulting before their cuts. What a difference from other places I had been, which was always a 2 minute consult before cutting away. Johanna did a nice job and gave me the cut I wanted but customized for my lifestyle. I also love, love, love the no tipping policy because it takes such pressure off me to remember cash, how much to give, etc. Will definitely be back.

Really nice place. I stopped by on a whim because I needed my brows cleaned up. I ended up with Tamara. She is very nice and did an excellent job. This isn’t like a quick waxing place, but is a nice spa so the prices are a bit expensive. I wish I could have spent more time there, would have liked to know about their other services. They have me $ 10 coupons for my next visit so even though they are expensive, I’ll go back.

Loved the «AHA Resurfacing facial» by Tamara. It was very relaxing, smelled like a botanical heaven, and my skin felt amazing afterwards! thanks.

Love the job Johanna did! I got 12 inches off for locks of love and Johanna let me know what she was doing every step of the way. I felt very comfortable trusting my hair with her!
The salon and spa itself has an interesting setup. The first level is a store with their products, the bottom level is the spa, and the top level is their salon.

My husband bought me a gift certificate for Christmas 2013. At the time I was caring for my ailing 80 yo mother and on top of that, the basement flooded. I had to get rid of alot of things including Christmas decorations. I believe i must have put the gift certificate into the decoration boxes. Hoping it was still in the décor boxes, this year I searched high and low hoping to find the certificate. I didn’t find it. today I had the idea to look thru the old cc statements and I found the name of the salon. I called and they had record of my unused certificate but it had expired. They agreed to extend the date and let me use it. I believe I could have contacted my cc co. to reverse the charge but it is so nice that I don’t have to. Yay! I haven’t used the service yet but I will once I research what is offered there. I’m so relieved and happy

New to the area & have settled in with Tamara for eyebrow waxing — she’s great!

Oh yeah, this place rocks! It was my first time getting my haircut here and my stylist, Stacey Atkinson, did a crazy good job. I showed her a few pics of what I wanted md told her a couple of things about the style I had in mind and she knocked it out of the park! She even did things that I forgot to tell her I wanted, that’s how knowledgable Stacey is about the style I wanted (short, VERY MESSY/​choppy/​layered bob). And when I went downstairs she showed me the products she used in my hair and didn’t push them on me. The prices are a little bit pricey but not too over the top if you’re used to going to nicer salons. Plus, I donated the hair I had cut off and THEY GIVE YOU 50% OFF if you donate your hair. I took mine with me but they’ll also donate it to Locks of Love for you (if that’s the organization you want to donate your hair to). Oh, and they also give you 3 coupons, each for $ 10 off towards your next 3 purchases. So, the long and short of it: I LOVE THIS PLACE! I will 100% be back to see Stacey!

I used to go to O’Hair many years ago when I lived in Gaithersburg. Stacey and Amy did my hair back then and both did a great job with my color and crazy curls. I recently moved back to the area and called yesterday to see if I could get in rather last minute. I was so excited to hear that both Stacey and Amy are still there and YES! I was able to get onto Stacey’s schedule today. She did a stellar job with my color and cut! I’ve had many moments at other salons when the unveiling after a shampoo revealed devastating color. Nothing like that here! Perfect balance, contrast, tone, all the things that we spoke about. Stacey nailed it!
The no-​tipping policy is awesome because it removes any stress about who to tip and how much when you have more than one person helping with your service. When I first started going there, I wondered if the staff really made out as well as they might if they worked in a tip-​setting, but that such skilled stylists are still working there 7 years later indicates that it works for them.
I love this place. Short notice appointment, an awesome stylist who did my color (foils), shampoo, cut and blowout/​flat iron in 2 hours at a great price?! Absolutely recommended. Everyone there is so pleasant, I don’t know how you could not love it.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Johanna took great care of me throughout my visit, too. She’s a great hostess, makes excellent coffee and gave me a great shampoo! I felt very attended to and pampered.
Now, don’t go taking my appointment slots. The others are fair game. ;-)

This is a nice little salon/​spa with very good customer service. I recently got a haircut there and although I wasn’t overwhelmed by the skills of the stylist, I felt she did a good job. She was very responsive to my input and wanted to make sure she did what I wanted. I guess that’s why I’m only giving 3 starts: sometimes you want the expert to help guide you rather than feeling like you have to tell them what to do. Having said that, I will return again for another cut in the future. The customer service is excellent and I like their no tipping and complimentary bang trim policies, too. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a solid salon and if they continue to do well I may update to 4 stars.

I will never go back here. I never write reviews — this is the first one I’ve ever written on Unilocal though I’ve used it as a trusted resource for years. I went in yesterday for a wedding updo trial. While the stylist, Amy did a serviceable — though certainly not remarkable — job and was friendly and accommodating enough, I was charged $ 110 for an extremely uncomplicated wedding bun/​twist «thing-​y» for lack of a better term. It was ok, but nothing I haven’t seen done better countless times on Bridezillas. Even when I went home my kids had to be prompted to even notice I’d had my hair done! Babysitter told me it was «cute». Not exactly the response I was hoping for for my wedding day hairstyle ESPECIALLY after shelling out $ 110!!!
However, the real deal breaker was later that day when I took my teenage daughter to the salon for an eyebrow waxing appointment and the front desk receptionist informed me that they’d accidentally «undercharged» me when is been in earlier and that they needed to charge me another $ 50 because they’d shampooed my hair! OMG. talk about adding insult to injury. $ 160 for «Something fancier than a standard issue bun». I wasn’t at all wowed by their «massage chairs». I like their no tipping policy. They did a pretty good job on my daughter’s brows … But $ 160 for an ok updo? Bring my hard earned money back there? Um … No.

The $ 70 charge per hair cut is a little steeper than what I’d like to normally pay, but the parking is easy, they are open quite early so there’s really no wait, and the staff is attentive and sweet. Their no tipping policy is also amazing!!! I was looking for a salon that would provide locks of love hair cut and this one came up through Unilocal.On Monday, tuesday and weds, if you schedule a locks of love hair cut, you’ll get 50% off the service! I chopped off about 16 inches of hair and my hair stylist was Julia. She asked many questions to make sure the length cut off was ok, how I plan to wear it, whether I want it tapered or not, etc… It was nice to see her not dive right in b/​c it would be such a dramatic change! The salon has make up stations, hair products, and a spa/​massage level as well. It provides a very zen-​ish and modern environment for you to feel at ease.

I went here after hearing from a coworker that some salons give discounts if you donate your hair to organizations that make wigs. I called around and found that O’Hair offered 50% off, which is pretty substantial. I had no problems making an appointment and the receptionists whom I spoke with were all very professional and polite. On the day of my haircut, I received a tour of the facilities as it was my first time there. I think Jessica was the girl who cut my hair. She was friendly and listened to my comments and feedback. I went into the salon not knowing what kind of a cut I wanted and Jessica was helpful suggesting some things and explaining the difference between long and short layers.
A week later and I am pleased with my cut! I will certainly go back if they still offer the discount of 50%!

I’ve had four different hairstyles in the past four years– from long to short to medium and now really short! I like the change and feel it does test the stylists more than just a trim. I’ve had cuts done by Stacey, Ashley and Danielle. All have been great at counseling me on what they feel would work best. Great customer service. All have done a great job with the haircuts. They take their time and always offer touch ups the next day if needed. The no tipping policy is great. They also offer a discount if you donate hair to Locks of Love but make sure you mention it when you make the appointment since it is only on certain days. You must have at least 10″ and they send it off for you.

My normal waxer had a family emergency in China and hasn’t returned. I’ve tried waxing myself and I succeed really only in making a big sticky mess so I hunted around for a temporary substitute.
I called on Tuesday and got an appointment with Tamara (whose name I had seen in other reviews) for the date and time I wanted. The man who made the appointment reminded me that this is a non-​tipping salon (new concept to me), and was very professional on the phone. I showed up on time and was offered a drink by the two young women working the desk, who were also cleaning and organizing the front shelves. I was a bit confused about the salon because there isn’t anything but product and a makeup station when you walk in. I learned later that the salon is upstairs and the spa is in the basement. I guess that’s good — keeps the hairdryer noise out of the facials. Anyway, Tamara was very personable and professional, but the very best part was that she was fast! Waxing shouldn’t be a deliberative process — just get that hair off! I’m am experienced waxer so I don’t notice pain anymore but she was so fast I can’t imagine it would’ve hurt anyone much and would be over quickly. She uses regular strip wax and hard cream wax based upon body part, and the temperature was comfortable. She was also fun to talk to and animated — I hope she can also do silent when applicable, like for a facial, but a professional esthetitian should have no problem with that.
Overall, my trouble now is whether I continue to see her or wait for my standard waxer to return… decisions decisions… I’m thinking I like Tamara better and will return. I hope the no tipping policy means she’s relatively well paid and therefore stable!
