FYI this Marble Slab is no longer in business, you’ll have to head to the Cold Stone instead in Kent/​Lakelands to satisfy your ice cream/​mix in needs.

Nothing extraordinary here. The Vanilla Cinnamon milkshake I got here was quite tasty but nothing I haven’t had from Cold Stone before. Prices are a bit inflated for the product they serve. For $ 13 for two milkshakes I am going to need some gold dust sprinkled on top. The teenage girl behind the counter seemed quite disinterested in making my milkshake and even scowled at me. Jesus, I am not even 30 yet but I am already starting on the «Youth these days» speeches. I promptly gave her a 20% tip and told the girl at the cash register to make sure she got it later on. If you like ice cream and don’t mind brainless teenagers then this is your stop.

P. S. When I was checking out one woman was asking the girl at the cash register why calorie content wasn’t posted. You don’t go the the freakin ice cream shop if you are counting calories. Go eat an apple and run around the Washingtonian Center and leave us fatties to get our ice cream in peace.

Well, unfortunately the only reason that this review will be so low is due to the lack of frozen yogurt flavors and toppings that I like. I’m a mango fanatic!!! Mango any and everything!!! And they had NO mango frozen yogurt or mango’s to put in my mango frozen yogurt!!! Double negative. I’m sure that for the people that like plain, chocolate, and raspberry with limited yogurt toppings and ice cream this is the place for you!
What pissed me off even more… as I drove out of the parking lot… I saw a frozen yogurt place that I am familiar with and love!!! Sigh Strike 1 in my frozen yogurt search! :-/

Absolutely delicious ice-​cream, every time, all the time. The ice-​cream is always fresh and so are the toppings. I’ve purchased a custom-​made ice-​cream cake and it tasted great as well.
The service — either ridiculously nice people or half-​sedated-​high-​schoolers.
But overall, 5 stars without a doubt.

This place is like a mix between Cold Stone and your local froyo place. Froyo isn’t as tart as I’d like but their ice cream doesn’t give you instant diabetes either.
When I was there, they had a ton of different flavors. The ones I can remember off the top of my head: Double Dark Chocolate, Armaretto, Cheesecake, banana, Nutty Buddy, Cherry, Strawberry, Vanilla, Fudge, Mango Sorbet, Raspberry Sorbet… it goes on! Don’t get me started on how many toppings they have!
I am a huge fan of their sweet cream ice cream. They have fresh toppings, not to mention the large variety of toppings. I generally mix in a few toppings into the sweet cream and call it a day. I wish they had a few more exotic toppings, but oh well, I can live without my mochi or lychee.
Their waffle cones are OK. I tried it a few times and It’s never been an
OMG moment. The pricing is on par with other specialty ice cream shops — $ 5 (including tax) on 2 scoops and a mixin of your choice.
Service wise… the folks who work there are fairly upbeat. Though lets be serious here, it’s hard to screw up service in the ice cream serving business. The only complaint I had (very minor) is that they really crank up the AC. It is freezing in the store, especially after a full 2 scoops of ice cream. Good thing there are lots of outdoor seating and park benches outside. =)
Warning: This delicious establishment is located next to an equally awesome crepes shop. Side effects include indecision, a craving to have two servings of dessert, actually eating two servings of dessert and having the odd feeling of working out afterwards, and food coma.

Yes, there is something seriously wrong with us. It was 15 below zero, and for some absurd reason, my husband and I decide that we needed fro-​yo. Oh. No, I remember now… we are on a diet, and decided that fro-​yo would be healthier and have less calories then a steak. Obviously, the lack of food had short-​circuited our linear logic.
So, we decided to get fro-​yo, and just to mix it up a bit, we came to Marble Slab Creamery. I’ve been here multiple times before — loooong ago when they first opened up — and I have to say, I like their flavor combinations for their «mix in» ice creams more then Cold Stone. Yes, I can just ask for the same thing at Cold Stone, but the proportions would be off. Plus, I never remember all of the ingredients. Yeah, I know that it’s only 3 mix in ingredients but I don’t like ice cream enough to waste precious long-​term memory for it.
Again, I digress. I am here to write about my most recent fro-​yo experience.
The fro-​yo station is around the corner, far from the sight of the cashiers… which is *awesome*, because, then you can taste some of the toppings without getting yelled at. Now, before anyone thinks that I am condoning theft… I am, but not really. Honestly! I happen to really love fresh fruit on my fro-​yo, and let’s face it, sometimes you just can’t tell if the mango is sweet and ripe, or just old but sour. A small, tiny little taste will let you know. OK, so perhaps I *may* be condoning theft… um, does this mean I won’t get my security clearance now?!? But seriously, don’t abuse the system… a tiny taste to make sure the fruit is ripe is a faaaar different thing then taking a handful of gummi bears. I will smack you if I see you doing that. Don’t abuse the system and ruin it for everyone. Seriously.
Anyways, the toppings bar is pretty extensive for a fro-​yo toppings bar, and there are 4 fro-​yo machines, which means that there can be up to 8 flavors to choose from! Yum! As always, I get the «original tart», which has one of the best balances of sweetness and tartness of the fro-​yos that I have tried so far. Just sweet enough so that your mouth doesn’t go into a full pucker, but with enough delightful tanginess to make it tasty.
There are actually only two reasons why Marble Slab isn’t getting a full 5 stars from me: 1) the parking sucks — and I know this is nothing they can really fix. There is a small parking lot around back, however this a rather busy retail area, and there are restaurants all surrounding Marble Slab, so the lot is almost always full. And 2) the tables and floors are almost always either sticky or wet. It is just so gross to sit down at a table, eager to dive into your calorie-​ladened frozen treat (one that you just paid 44 cents an ounce for) to find your hand stuck to the table, because it hasn’t been cleaned in a while. Ewww!
However, despite these two failings, I do like Marble Slab… it’s like the frozen treat Switzerland for ice cream lovers and fro-​yo fanatics.

While the non-​fat with tart froyo is not super tart and not as creamy as I’d like, with a respectable option of toppings included in the $ 0.42/oz. pricetag, this self-​serve healthier frozen dairy option is a steal!

I come here for the self-​serve yogurt and toppings bar! They have a nice variety of flavors and toppings to choose from, and the price is fairly decent – can’t really complain since there is no self-​serve yogurt in this area. Worth the visit!

Finally, I found SELF-​SERVING soft-​frozen yogurt with fresh topping bar!!!
I wouldn’t want to leave NY when I had to leave yogurtland behind. but Marble slab creamery just made my day.
It’s a bit far from DC. but oh well… I can just make a road trip to get out of the city for change on the weekend:)

The location is great a prefect place to relax on a hot summer day. Ice-​cream is okay, a bit melted. Not sure this is their style or what. For $ 6.2 a regular cup with 3 mix-​in toppings, it is a bit pricy…

I’m not a huge fan of the mixed in ice cream concept, but I do LOVE frozen yogurt. I was walking around Gaithersburg and they have a sign that says 44 cents an oz for self serve fro yo with a toppings bar. This stuff is AMAZING! Its a cross between TCBY (which is no longer is existence) and Pinkberry/​Tangysweet. I love the fact that you can mix flavors and toppings of your choice and you get to pick how much of what you want. Its soooooooooooo good and defintely worth the drive from Rockville.

They just opened a new fabulous self serve Frozen Yogurt area on the other side of the store… the owner was inspired by a trip to California (think pinkberry) to bring fro-​yo with healthy probiotics to Maryland. The flavors are varied (green tea, banana, blueberry), non-​fat, and the toppings are unique (cereals like fruity pebbles) and healthy, too (fresh berries). It’s going to be a great summer in the Kentlands!

the ice cream is the best! its so cool to see them make anything you want with all kinds of toppings and plenty of ice cream flavors! its a great place for kids and a nice treat for a hot sunny day! i will say its kinda pricy but you get what you pay for and i can’t complain!

First I thought I liked Cold Stone. I do, but then I started liking Maggie Moo’s. Then I tried Marble Slab. I’m now a card carrying, mildly obsessed, junkie for the «experience» these guys bring when I walk through the door. And I’ve already redeemed a freebie card with no fluctuation to that experience.
These places are basically the same. Premium ice cream with «stuff» folded in on a «slab» (the counter), while you watch. The items you can choose (stuff) vary somewhat, but it’s your basic oreo crumbs, heath, nuts, jimmies, etc. and each place has wonderful waffle cones and waffle cone cups.
I’m sure there are bright energetic crews working at various Cold Stone and MM locations (there are many locations), but the people working at Marble Slab in Kentlands have a lot more on the ball than the folks I’ve encountered in their competitor’s shops in the area.
The ice cream seemed a lot better here also. Maybe it was the «experience» that made it so great? You be the judge! :-)
