I had my first root canal done by Dr. Elliott and thought he was wonderful. Obviously no one wants to have this done, but he was very thorough and precise, and the terrible pain I was in before is totally gone. I honestly didn’t even have any pain from the procedure itself. Would highly recommend Dr. Elliott.

I came to Rockville to visit my daughter and ended up with a toothache. I have had root canal pain in the past and was certain I would need one again. I called Dr Elliott’s office and was so happy to be given an appointment that same day. Upon examination, Dr. Elliott suspected that the cause of my pain was not a root canal issue. He recommended that I have a 3D scan to determine exactly what the problem was. The machine was really state of the art and I was able to see my tooth from several angles. He requested that the radiologist put a rush on reading the X-​rays because I was on vacation and eager to not spend my trip in a dental office! Dr. Elliott contacted me later that day to let me know that I did not need a root canal at all, news I was very happy to hear! He explained that he thought the pain was from trauma to the tooth, possibly from biting down too hard on something. Soon there afterwards I was pain free. I was so grateful to find such a thorough dentist. I appreciate when a doctor takes a conservative approach rather than racking up a bill for unnecessary treatments. I highly recommend Dr. Elliott!

I went to their other location in Rockville and saw Dr. Elliott who performed a 1.5 hr root canal for me. While I don’t wish this on anyone, if you have to get one go here! I HATE the dentist and cry even when I have to get a cleaning. And turns out the tooth that needed repair had an extra root. From start to finish the procedure was relatively painless. The office is impeccable, the staff is friendly and Dr. Elliot explained each step of the procedure so I knew what was going on. A day later I am already pretty much main free. Brilliant. Thank you!

For those fearing the dentist’s chair, please accept my apologies in advance for this review. If; however, you are like me (a mere mortal) that has the occasional need for quality dental services, then please accept this suggestion.
Dental pain, for want of a better turn of phrase, does NOT find the better angels of my nature. That said… several decades of hard living had finally caught up with me and endodontic services were required. I’ll warn you that my first visit to this location (not with Dr. Ramani) met with a less-​than-​happy result (I’ll spare you all the gory details). Suffice to say, I had to make near term arrangements to sort out the offending post-​procedure molar and was literally saved by Dr. Ramani.
My initial interaction with Dr. Ramani was a little rocky since I needed to call the after hours emergency line (which you can only reach via the normal switchboard number listed on the their business card). My geographic preference was to be seen at their North Bethesda location, but in this case — I was more than willing to drive to Gaithersburg if it means an end to pain. Anyway, when I called the Emergency Number, I heard a one word voice-​mail prompt: «Ramani.» I was in pain, and thus a little short on voice-​mail generosity. I am pretty sure I said something terse along the lines of «Well this is Jason B. and I am looking for the on call endodontist. If you are he, please call me soonest.»
I did get a call back and I was immediately embarrassed (both by recalling the terseness of my message, as well as realizing that the pain was making my perception and focus less than optimal). Dr. Ramani was very gracious and arranged for a Saturday AM appointment at the Gaithersburg location. You must understand that, as a consultant, the ability to schedule personal appointments outside of the regular business week is a God send.
So, with the grim satisfaction that I would have my noggin repaired that Saturday, I relegated myself to the couch with some soothingly-​cold gelato and a proper dosing of naproxen to alleviate the pain.
The drive over to Gaithersburg was blissfully uneventful at 8:30 AM on this particular Saturday. The air was appropriately crisp for a fall morning and I actually welcomed the appointment. Upon arrival, GPS guided me into the lot. As much as I love my Infiniti, the nav does tend to fail a bit once one is in a private lot (for reference, pull into the first drive way on the left from the main road, proceed to the first available «T» and turn left, proceed into the back lot and park accordingly — the office is tucked into the farthest office on the left-​hand side next to some stairs that would take you back out to the main road).
I signed in, validated my insurance information, and was very quickly brought to a berth (sorry, what does one call the place where you get into the chair with the spotlight overhead?). The dental assistant took X-​Rays of the offending tooth and within 90 seconds of completion, Dr. Ramani was greeting me with a charitably open hand. Again… the embarrassment of my previously bear-​like behavior came to mind and I am sure that my face flushed. Thankfully, Dr. Ramani was most gracious and began his consult and exam in earnest. I found it quite surprising and oddly reassuring that Dr. Ramani did most of the work by himself. He was clearly taking his time with remediation of the tooth (even though I could not see, I could hear sounds that were completely new to me). Only towards the end of the appointment did the dental assistant return to assist Dr. Ramani. Even the addition of a new set of hands did little to slow his pace or gentle precision.
When the procedure was completed, he confirmed that the genesis of my pain was not unfounded. With no interest in identifying whether the source of concern was iatrogenic or idiopathic in nature, we moved towards scheduling my follow up. I was issued two scripts (an Rx analgesic and a course of prophylactic amoxicillin). I thanked him as profusely as my numbed mouth would permit and I left the office pain free and wearing what must have looked like the grin of a person suffering a stroke. Regardless I was very happy and most certainly grateful to Dr. Ramani.
