The worst cold burrito. Btw the customer service is horrible, I just wanted to walk out as the cashier/​order taker didn’t even want to make eye contact.
The drink/​hot sauce section was also very messy. I will not be eating here again

Not only is the food fantastic (go ahead… get the chips and queso, you deserve it), but their catering is great too. We used them to cater a party for 80 and everything ran smoothly and the taco bar was a huge hit!

Where do I start… Well I had the Enchilada bowl with steak that was… how shall we put it… just ok. The meat was seasoned ok, but the bowl was lacking humph considering the price. I had to ask for the cilantro, sour cream and the cheese even though it was suppose to come in the bowl already. The lady who was fixing the food got a bit of an attitude with I asked for the missing items and then I realized it wasn’t just me she had an attitude with because she had to redo the burrito of the customer behind me twice! She seemed to be in so much of a hurry, although we were the only two people in line and it was no where near closing time. Can’t say I’ll be going back anytime soon.

Affordable, tasty, somewhat nice ambiance
They make great nachos with cheese. If you are craving mexican food, this is where to head! In addition, very friendly and speedy employees make it easy to eat in a hurry! Best part? Literally they have over 50 different sauces to choose from. There is a green sauce, superb! Unfortunately forgot the name ;(but fabulous and affordable restaurant! Sit down or carry our! Quality of the food is the same!

A quick cheap eat of mine. Great loyalty program and monthly deals! Wall of sauces are fun and the food is fresh!

I’m really sad to see how far gone this place is. I’ve lived in dc for 20 years and this place used to be amazing. Their food has cheaped out, and the portions are tiny. I tried their power bowl and laughed when I got it. The avocado was brown and the potion was tiny. The kale was wilted and it looked nothing like the picture it was supposed to be. Some sort of brown sauce was all over it. Not even remotely. I told the person to remake it and give me more kale. They did, but it was still gross tasting. Very sad that they’ve sacrificed quality for more locations. Boo

Everything tastes bland and extremely processed including the meat.
I regret ordering the combo fajita for dried up Mexican Rice, nasty black beans and undercooked meat
Food is bad
Value is just not there and the dining area is small
I really do not care for the 100 types of sauces they had on the wall. Whats the big deal about that???

This place is not worth the hype. Their food is just not very good.
I came and ordered the Korean bbq burrito and it was mostly rice (dry rice at that) wrapped up in a tortilla. It was supposed to come with fajita veggies and crisp slaw… unless that was minced into the rice it was nowhere to be found. I had to eventually just cut open the burrito to find any chicken on there.
The same goes for the salad. There was very little meat put on. The chicken also did not taste fresh. It tasted very processed and mushy.
Saving factor? The hot sauce wall. So much fun to pick out how you are going to spice up your meal. Their house hot sauce is a great go to. Their queso is also really good and worth getting the combo for. They also offer a well priced kids meal.

Great place. Fast service, polite employees, nice customers and great atmosphere. Much better than the McDonald’s across the street!

We have been dining here for over a year now and the food quality is not the same. I must reiterate a previous post that the order line is slow. It takes longer to order than to make the order. There definitely is not enough staff to attend to the beverage dispenser and clean tables. We don’t dine here much anymore. Changes need to occur to accommodate patrons and call in orders.

One word… Awesome.
Great food. Good selection. Friendly staff. Much better than the stuff they are trying to sell you at moes. Nice portion sizes.

I was craving Mexican and Now I regret it. I really missed the old Germantown location but oh well. The cashier was friendly. Which is why this review is getting 2 stars. I could never see myself standing in a long a** for a burrito… yeah that other place that also starts with a C. Anyways, no waiting in line, I guess someone yelled out rat and people ran out… or something. so I ordered tacos. and it was horrible! first I asked for crunchy tacos but they gave me soft shell.yuck. but my meat was cold… the steak was cold and partially red. I got sick that night. Im very picky when it comes to meat being cooked. but the nice cashier tried to do his best, i mean he exchanged my meat for crunchy. he was all about customer service… but i didnt appreciate the prep employee hissing at me because I had to send back my wrong order… their salsas are cool but it looks nasty. its cool that they have every salsa that you can imagine but wipe down the bottles just like you do for the tables and the trays. I love their chips its light and crispy unlike the other place C… ill give it another shot because the food isnt that bad, i just cant digest undercooked meat…

Love this place ! Fresh food employers provide great information about the food you want before you order when you ask.
I realized I’ve been coming to California tortilla weekly because of the service ! And yummy food. I had more great service than bad experience.

This place is always on top of things. Good is good and preparation is QUICK! I’m here weekly!

Tasty food consistent with what I’ve come to expect from California Tortilla. The black bean soft tacos were prepared quickly and the chips and queso is like 10 minutes (or a hurried 5) of divine ooey, gooey deliciousness. The chips this time were not salty as heck.
One thing that bums me out is that I’ve been to about a half dozen California Tortillas in the past six months and I still cannot find the Mad Dog Liquid Fire sauce that I love so dearly and have had almost 2 – 3 times a week when I was a teenager. Mayhap it’s been discontinued…
What I don’t get though why all of the California Tortillas are in such inconvenient or remote locations! Aside from a few that are near movie theaters, I feel like I’m always driving quite a distance to get to one!
The one thing about this location is that there is limited parking and it’s tricky to get out because of the one-​way entrance is not right next to the exit.

BBQ chicken ranch burrito so good! And great service! I swear burrito was ready before I could put receipt in my pocket, really good, warm, and my chips were warm too.
This place would have gotten more stars if they had better salsa with combo meals.

The food is still good and the wall of hot sauce is great, but the ordering line at this location continues to be slow. There is usually only one person working the register and English can be difficult if you need to communicate anything other than the menu.
I was there today, ordered a salad and a drink but forgot to make it a combo (to get the chips). I think it is like 50 cents extra. After the line went away, I went back up with a dollar to make my meal a combo, because I wanted to get the chips. I could not communicate this to the check-​out girl. She kept charging me $ 2 for chips, and I politely explained (several times) that I paid for the drink and meal already, I just wanted to make it a combo.
There are a few ways to handle this. One, the easy way out is to just give me some chips to avoid the hassle. (she didn’t do that, but did offer to give me a drink, which I already had). A 2^nd way is to cancel my old order, and enter a new one with the combo (probably easy if you don’t know how to amend an order). Or finally you can pull up my old order, make a change to it, and charge me the 50 cent difference. She did none of that, called another guy over who again tried to charge me $ 2 for the chips and then he said, «No. We can’t do that after you have placed your order.»
Seriously? You saw me standing there for a while trying to communicate this to her, just give me the bag of chips I was willing to pay for. ?!? As it is, places like Baja Fresh give you the chips for free, and more of them. If she would have even asked me «would you like to make that a combo for 50 cents more?» I wouldn’t have forgotten in the first place.
The experience has soured me on CalTort for a bit, I think. I’m tired of the slow line, simple orders taking long, and the lack of English speaking help.

They only have two salads now. They have so many ingredients back there that it’d be nice if they could mix up another option or two.

The best queso ever!
I think this is the best deal on kid’s meals… you can have a burrito or quesadilla and they come with chips and queso, a drink AND ½ a giant brownie… all for $ 4.99!!!
I had a Southwest salad with steak. It had guac, roma tomatoes, lots of cheese, corn, tortilla strips and your choice of dressing. Of course I made it a combo for $ 2.39…drink and queso!
Did I mention I love the queso here?

I love this place!
I had no idea one of my first lunches in Gaithersburg would be one I’d remember. But then I popped in here and ordered the taco combo, including one beef and one mesquite chicken, with a side of tortilla chips and warm queso dip. These aren’t your standard, small, soft shell tacos you’d get after ‘running for the border.’ No sir, there was substantial quantity and quality in each bite, making me want a third one.
With a tasty salsa and a ton of hot sauces, CT allows you to turn the temp up as high as you want on your meal. Heck, I liked it so much, I went back again the next day and got the same thing.
Maybe some day, I’ll break away and try something else, like one of the burritos, but I can’t see that happening in the short-​term.

free taco? I’m there! A couple of coworkers that don’t live anywhere closely gave me theirs, so I had 4 freebees… Took the wife, son and mother-​in-​law.
This is located just across the street from Quince Orchard HS. The parking in front is small, but there is plenty of parking in the center.
Small location, but very clean. The moment I walked in, a HS kid working did his job well. No problems with the coupon, but we asked him if they were good with any taco? Instead of looking at us like we were a bunch of idiots, he did the smart thing! He asked his mgr quickly!
We got 2 fish tacos, 1 steak taco, 1 chicken taco… all yummy… somewhat small, but hey they were free, how can I complain? My son got a cheeseburger taco which came with a drink and a brownie… all yummy he said!
