I absolutely heart Tania! She is on point every time. It is easy to make an appointment and everyone in the salon is nice and welcoming. I had to go through a few bad haircuts (ugh) before I found this place. I highly recommend Tania. She also does amazing color!

I have been going to Cahra Salon, Johnny (the owner) and Teresa for about 20 years! That’s now about half my life. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that people stop me and ask where I get my hair colored. I’m a blonde but my natural color is a dark brunette. Johnny is CONSISTENTLY good and takes great care of the overall health of my hair. Thanks Cahra and Johnny for 20 great years!

Olga is fabulous for waxing and facials. Cengiz is an amazing hairstylist. Great people and great service.

Jhonny, is a dream! After a plethora of bad encounters with other salons, I decided highlighting, coloring and cutting my hair at home by myself was the only option — (bad idea). My hair was in bad shape and I needed to find a place that would fix the mess I created. I work fairly close to Cahra and Jhonny had been recommended by my co-​worker.
After a quick consultation, Jhonny, set me up with a plan to tackle my color (I wanted an ombré look for fall) and breakage — a dry cut and organic hair treatment «Taninoplasta» (It works just like a keratin treatment — except it’s 100% organic). I’m pregnant, so the Taninoplasta was a perfect option for me.
It was a multi-​visit process, but well worth it! The color is exactly what I wanted (no orange tones — which I hate), and the cut and treatment shortened my drying/​styling time in half — smooth and soft.
*Also, I love getting my hair shampooed/​massaged — Silvia does an AMAZING job — some how my entire body feels relaxed after she wraps my head up!

I have known Jhonny for a very long time and he is so awesome and is slowly fixing my hair. I love it so far!

I have now been seeing Tania at Cahra for 9 – 10 years. She is still great, and I would highly recommend her! The current price for a haircut with her (~45 minutes) is $ 67, which is still very reasonable for the quality and DC area. Another plus about Cahra is that you can book an appointment online.

If I would I would give this place a ZERO! I got gel medi done here and I was not pleased at all! I had a appt at 2:00 PM. The Gentlemen who answer the phone it seem like could not speak any English! I had to repeat myself more then 3 times that I wanted Gel and I have to repeat myself about my name. So when I got their they had everything wrong they put myself as Denny and that I wanted a hair cut. So when they took me upstairs to get my nail done it look to plan she was almost done finish with someone else but the BIG turn off was I did not get seen till 2:30 and I made my appt for 2pm I think lupe is how you spell her name told me to go to the bathroom to wash my hands and use the nail brush (no one ever told me to do that myself it was the nail Tech job not mine) and she NEVR open a new pack of tools all the nail salon I been to they open a new pack tools in front of you and lupe never did I dont know where that tool been. she was in a rush beuase it was her lunch break. When i was finish the trying to pay he told me $ 45.00 but on YOUR website it says $ 35.00… I would NEVER come back here I had better gel medi at Phoenix nail salon in Gaithersburg Maryland
As of April 11^th 2015: my gel medi came off.

Rather disappointing customer service. I bought a Groupon to give a new salon a try and support local business. The manager (Theresa) imposed additional restrictions on its use, and when I shared with her that those restrictions were not in the certificate terms, she told me what a negative experience they had with Groupon, and said she would investigate further and call me back. She failed to follow up. It’s clear Cahra isn’t interested in honoring their promotions or getting new customers. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Olga deserves 5 stars!
I went to see Olga for an eyebrow wax based on a recommendation from some friends. Let me start by saying, I am very picky and critical when it comes to my eyebrows. I like to keep them very natural, and just clean up the shape. Olga was extremely sweet and made me feel very comfortable. She listened to my concerns (had to grow out my eyebrows after a bad threading a few months ago, still patchy), and I could tell she was taking her time. It was one of the least painful eyebrow waxing experiences I’ve had, and she was careful to pluck and trim after the waxing. She also added some soothing/​calming cremes to my brows at the end and did a nice, cool forehead/​brow massage. My eyebrows still don’t look as nice as they used to, but that is definitely not Olga’s fault; she did a beautiful job with what she had to work with. The part I appreciated the most was that at the end of the appointment she explained what she did, telling me how she chose to shape my brows based on my goal to get them back to their natural fullness. My only complaint: even though it seemed like a very nice salon/​spa, the man at the front desk and the other workers seemed pretty distracted. It was a bit confusing when I first arrived and had to figure out how to get their attention.

Been going to Mike for a haircut for the last 10 years. He always does a great job! I live in NYC now but still come back to Mike.

THE HAIRSTYLIST DIDN’T SHOW UP ON THE DAY OF MY SISTER’S WEDDING. That should tell you enough about the organization and level of professionalism at this salon but if you need more reason to be dissuaded from booking there, when I called the manager Johnny about how he planned to fix this problem, he was rude and condescending. Utterly horrific experience for a bride-​to-​be. DO NOT BOOK HERE.

I was in town for a wedding last week and stayed at the Marriott Washingtonian Center. The day before the wedding, I decided I needed a haircut and checked online to see if there was a salon in the shopping area next to the hotel. I cam across Cahra and then checked the Unilocal reviews. I was a little concerned because the reviews were mixed, with several mentioning rude staff and/​or bad service and experiences. However, I figured that I’d give it a try anyway and walk over. I arrived about 3pm on a Friday afternoon and asked if they took walk-​ins which they did. I told the front desk person that I could come back later if they were too busy, but she was very cordial and said that she was sure she could find someone to fit me in. I was then walked to the back and shortly introduced to Fred, who asked what I wanted done. After I explained how I wanted my hair cut, Fred said that it would be no problem, and then he walked me over to the shampoo area where I had my hair washed and my scalp massaged.
There’s really no reason to go into detail on my haircut; suffice it to say that I was very happy with it and that I would return if I lived in the area. Everyone whom I encountered, from the front desk clerk, to the shampoo person, to Fred himself, was very cordial and very professional. I did not encounter any of the rude behavior that others found. All-​in-​all, I had a very pleasant experience, and I looked much better for the wedding (not my own, btw)!

I’ve been going to Fred for years. He has an amazing eye and knows exactly how to make me look my best. I get so many compliments that I have to give him credit. I wouldn’t trust my hair to anyone else.
If you’ve been searching for the perfect stylist… Look no further.

My «stylist» a.k.a. hair butcher was Fred. Worst experience EVER. The first time I was there he insisted that a little red would look good in my hair, so I said ok. I did not like it, since the red was only in my roots. The cut was fine. So the second time I went there and I asked him to take off the red and make it dark. My roots turned out to be almost blond (and I am a natural brunette). I nearly started crying at the salon. He «fixed» it, and started explaining how it is a chemistry and bla bla bla. My hair is now too dark at the bottom and red on top. AGAIN.
Then he started doing the cut. I told him I wanted a little trim. I guess he was still hang up on the color and completely neglected my haircut, which turned out to be too short and too uneven (I had to fix it myself).

I had highlights done at the salon. I told the stylist that I want it to be very blond. Long story short, it wasn’t. I was not happy with the results. But moreover, it was absolutely horrible experience! I also wanted to get a quick trim, which the stylist did not have time for. She did not even brush my hair after it was washed. She told me they were short handed and too many appointments. While I can see that being the case, I don’t understand how it was any of my concern. I have paid $ 140 for highlights and they did not dry nor brush my hair. That seems absolutely ridiculous to me. Please don’t waste your money there and go somewhere else!

Wish I could give zero. I received a
Groupon for this place as a gift. Called two weeks before it expired and was told that they were booked for massages but I could get other services. I asked if a could come in after the date since I was calling this early, because I really just wanted a massage, they said no. So I asked if I could use the paid value towards a massage after the date and was told no. Terrible customer service, and the receptionist and manager were also rude on the phone. By the way, chara means «sh*t» in Hebrew :)

Olga did my wax. The bikini was fine, they always hurt no matter who does them, so that wasnt an issue.
My eyebrows on the other hand, were RED irritated and had bumps all around them the next day. The price wasnt too bad, but I probably would go somewhere else off my eyebrow wax alone.

Mike did my highlights, They r a bit pricey, but ill take it considering i want my hair to look good! i LOVE my highlights now. He did a great job. I have attached a link of a pic of my hair (not blow-​dried) just so u can c the color. There was an issue with pricing, but I called him after and he fixed it :) Thanks Mike! :D

This is the worst salon in Gaithersburg. I bought my wife a gift card to have her hair do and when showed up someone changed her appointment date without informing her. She had to come back home in the middle of a light snow storm. I, the husband, called the office asked to speak with the manager and he or she was not available and never returned my phone call. This place should go out of business immediately.
An upset customer.
