Uni K WAX-Gainesville

Had my first full bikini wax with Candace. She made me feel comfortable and was very patient with me. The best part was that she made the entire experience painless. Definitely recommend her! Thank you Candace!

I have been going to Uni-​K in Gainesville, FL for two years now. The manager is a very pleasant woman and the staff is super sweet. I have never had a bad experience during a visit. Jen is the best! :)

Average eyebrow waxing job in relation to its expensive price. I’d come back but the blonde receptionist (don’t know her name) was so inexplicably rude and condescending for no reason to both my friend and I that I’ll probably not return unless I’m desperate.

Took my daughter for a wax and really bad experience. The girl really messed up her eyebrows. The manager told me was so surprised since she was on of the best people they had. They did not charge for the service since it was so bad. I would stay far away from this place.

I have been to this Uni-​K wax location about 4 times. The first 3 times, I would have given this place 4 stars. However, upon my last visit, I was disappointed. There are few waxing salons with reasonable prices in Gainesville, especially for Brazilian waxes. Uni-​K was one of the few with somewhat reasonable prices. Prior to my last visit, it was about $ 42. Now, it is $ 55! This location is a franchise, and they said corporate sets their prices, and increased the prices of all of their services (disclaimers and signage are aplenty in the waiting room, so I was warned that prices had changed). I understand that the owners of this Uni-​K do not have any control over the prices, but this kind of increase makes me not want to go back– the wax itself was good, but nothing so great that I would pay that much. I usually have Leslie as my waxer, and she is great. I have never had a bad experience with any of the waxers. I just don’t think I will ever be back because I can’t justify a wax that expensive– I am from a big city where $ 35 brazilians are aplenty.

Olga did a good job. She was very straight forward and not really wanting to talk a lot. She was just putting the wax on and pulling it off and not allowing me to prepare myself. She got straight to the point. It hurt but I might be back soon. Thanks

I moved to Jacksonville from Long Island and the place I go to here in Jax will never ever compare to UNI K!!! Please open a salon in Jax it will make me and this entire town very happy!!! I need this!!!

Literally the worst full-​bikini (brazilian, everywhere else) wax I’ve had in my entire life. Recently moved to Gainesville, and I’ve had waxes at several places in the two cities I lived before this. I have never experienced a more painful waxing experience. I’ve been to UniK twice now, and the first time wasn’t terrible. I remember slight pain, but it had also been awhile since I’d had a wax and expected it to not feel the greatest. This time it had also been awhile between waxes, and I supplemented with shaving. The woman doing my wax kept blaming the fact that I was having such a hard time on the fact that I’d shaved in between, even though I’ve done that virtually every time in between waxes. I think the 15 minute time slot for waxes as a big part of the reason it was such a bad experience, because she was sloppy and didn’t really care where she was putting the wax — resulting in wax getting on a part of my lady anatomy that definitely has no hair, and was EXTREMELY painful when the hardened wax was ripped off– and to make it worse, she didn’t get it all the first time and had to try twice to get all of the wax off. A GOOD salon will take their time, make sure to separate everything and be careful with the wax so situations like that don’t happen. And to top it all off, there were still bits of wax left everywhere after she was finished. There are definitely solutions you can use to remove them, but she apparently didn’t care enough to use any.
Honestly, I will not come back here again. The price is good, but I’d rather spend the extra $ 10-​$ 15 to make sure that I get someone that’s going to take their time and not rip off my ladybits just to make sure she finishes in 15 minutes.

Great experience and friendly service at Uni-​K! I just moved here from DC and was looking for a new waxing salon, and I’m so glad I did some research and found Uni-​K. My overall experience here was better than any place I tried in DC. Uni-​K is super clean, the staff is really friendly, and the prices are extremely reasonable for the service and quality you get! I went here for a Brazilian wax, and the hard wax technique they use is the least painful of all the techniques I’ve tried in the past (traditional waxing w/​paper strips and Brazilian sugar waxing). I’m 8 months pregnant and got a Brazilian hard wax at Uni-​K and it still didn’t hurt as much as traditional or sugar waxing! Olga was my tech and she was quick, mindful, and efficient. Other reviews were concerned with ‘double dipping’ the wax sticks, but they use a pot of wax that is poured specifically for your appointment only and I’m confident that all measures are taken to ensure the most sanitary practices are used. Before I made my first appointment with Uni-​K I read the page on their website that talks about this, and I felt reassured that they would not be using a recycled pot of wax on me. The only reason I gave it four stars as opposed to five is because I haven’t been to another place in Gainesville to compare it to, but I don’t think I’ll need another place because this was inexpensive and the quality was great! I will be going back for sure, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good waxing salon, especially if you’ve never had a Brazilian wax before and you’re a bit terrified on how it will feel.

I totally love hard wax! As a devout follower i was excited when I first started coming here. Hard wax is pretty much the greatest thing ever. I’m willing to pay more for someone who knows what they’re doing and for a better product aka hard wax. Kristy is my favorite.. . mostly because she gives me the best arch. They’ve never burned me or done a bad job. I even love the cute point cards we get.

I’ve gone here many times and have always been satisfied but this last time was not good. I had Kristy and the bikini wax she gave me was just awful. It was patchy and the area she waxed was WAY smaller than they normally do. I had to go elsewhere and get waxed again to fix my bikini line. If you’re going to go here, I suggest going with someone other than her.

Olga is amazing. She took good care of my eyebrows and she is also waxing my arms thoroughly. The facility is super clean and staff is friendly.

I had a pretty good experience here. My appt was set for 10:30 but they did not get to me until about 10:50. With waxing, you may have clients who are nervous or the process may just take longer so I was patient about it. No big deal. I will be back for my second visit.

Awful. Out of all the places I’ve ever gotten a bikini, upper lip, and eyebrow, Uni K has always been the most unprofessional and inexperienced. This time I saw Olga, but it was the same treatment as the other few times I’ve had to go here out of lack of options.
They always double dip, they always wax over the same area like 5x, they always make me bleed, they always leave wax still on you, and they just use simple Aloe Vera to treat the area.
Honestly, I’d rather stick with shaving or wait till I’m not in Gainesville to go someplace else. Every other place I’ve been to does the exact opposite of this place and ALWAYS gets every hair and no bleeding.
They only accept tips via check or cash… which no one carries around… I’m wondering if lack of tip means lack of service. Seems so.

I have been here twice both times I was booked with Olga. After my first experience with her I asked a note be in my account not to book me with her but they did. The first time she gave me one thin eyebrow and one thick one. As she ripped the wax off the thin one she said «oops» I told the front desk and they seemed unphased and asked for payment. The lack of concern was apalling.
Fast forward to this week… I was a walk in I was told come back in an hour. When I returned I was freaked out When Olga opened the door and called my name. I told myself maybe she had an off day and hoped for the best. I was in for an eyebrow and chin waxing. She coated my chin in their special formula green UniK wax. This stuff dried hard on my face like a jolly rancher candy. Because it was formed like the shape of my chin it seemed she had difficulty ripping it off. Once she did she pressed firmly on my face for about 30 seconds. When she removed her hand my chin felt like I had just had a chemical peel, for those who don’t know that feeling my skin felt raw and on fire. To my shock she applied another coating over my entire chin and repeated the process. On to my eyebrows: She applied one coat to my each area of my eyebrow. Then did some tweezing and handed me the mirror indicating she had finished. I look in the mirror and my right eyebrow has a full strip beneath it of new growth hairs she should have removed. I went to point to them to show her and she barked «Don’t Touch» … I said what about these? «They will grow in» I explained it looked uneven and I did not feel finished, with a loud sigh she barked again“Fine!” Now seeming irritated at me she proceeded to tweeze them all out. Really?!? I can do that at home, but I thought I was paying to be waxed. My eyebrows still do not match. Where the eyebrows meet the bridge of your nose is what people see most. On the left side I have a square straight line or boxy shape. The other eyebrow has a rounded shape. At this point I just wanted out of that little room and away from her. Again I told the front desk she was rude and I wasn’t happy and mentioned I had had her before with a request not to be booked with her. They again offered to notate my account. I paid the 30.00 and left. Now their main marketing concept is they have a special blend for sensitive skin. I was not even out of the parking lot before I could feel irritation bumps forming on my chin. I had to attend my event with 2 large spots on my chin. I have never felt more pain in a waxing service as I did with this and it is more expensive than other services such as the honey wax or threading. The room layout is not friendly for doing eyebrows. You lay on a table against the wall and her only view of you is from the right side. Until you sit up she cannot compare them evenly and by then she is done. Lastly there is a sign on the front desk that says if you like them on FB or write a review for them they give you a 10.00 credit. I feel the glowing reviews are simply to receive a discount.

I definitely recommend Uni K Wax to anyone needing a full bikini in Gainesville. Prices are reasonable and you never have to wait more than five minutes to be seen if you have an appointment. I always see Olga and she is very sweet and professional about the entire process. Takes about 20 minutes in all. It can be very painful at first but a Tylenol before should help with that and over time it’ll be no big d!

I’ve been here twice now, once for my first bikini wax, and then again about 2 weeks later for full legs and underarms.
I had a great experience both times. I’ve had plenty of waxwings in the past, but only on my eyebrows and upper lip, so I was very nervous about how much this would hurt. Now, I’m not going to lie, it’s not pain free, but it hurt a lot less than I expected, and based on my experience with eyebrow and lip waxing (with both hot wax and resin wax), I think a lot of it has to do with the wax. The body-​temp resin wax feels soothing as it goes on our skin, and I like that there is no narrow window in which it is the right temp or it will burn your skin like traditional wax. I also like that the technician can leave the wax on as long as she wants before removing it without having to worry about anything. That makes the process go pretty fast.
Olga did my deep bikini with top. She was really sweat, but she is quiet and does have an accent. It didn’t bother me; I just listened really carefully while she gave me care instructions.
Lesli did my legs and underarms. She was awesome. At first, she didn’t talk much, but as the appointment went on, we started to make conversation. It helped me stay at ease and to not focus on the pain (which is short-​lasting, but, um, who knew your shin was so sensitive!). She was excellent and careful.
I find the prices reasonable. They are cheaper than the high-​end salon I go to in town for my other beauty needs, and WAY cheaper than any place back where I’m from in Fort Lauderdale… at least any place you’d want to go to.
I know some people are freaked out by the fact that they double dip into the wax, but I’m pretty confident that they are using brand new wax for each customer, so I don’t have a problem with it. I’d actually be annoyed form a sustainability perspective if they used a different stick every single time they dipped in. For my full leg, that would’ve been dozens, at least.
I had a little redness and sensitivity for a few hours after, but I also felt AMAZING, especially after the bikini wax and underarm wax. I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this. I just gently exfoliate with a sugar scrub from BodyShop each time I shower, and I’ve have no ingrown hairs. I can’t wait to go again! … but I won’t need to for weeks. Bye, bye, razor!
Bring cash for tip.
Also, I wish I knew you got 10% the first visit. I would’ve waited for my hair to grow more so I could do all three services at my first appointment.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Uni-​K!
The prices are the cheapest I’ve seen compared to other salons! It’s fast and easy to make an appointment when you call. When you arrive to your appointment, you don’t have to ever wait longer than 5 minutes. I always ask for Ashley, she’s AMAZING and so sweet!
The wax is unique because it’s not the typical hot wax and then the strip on top; the wax itself hardens and then is pulled off. It might hurt the first time, but I never thought it was excruciating.
Everything is very clean and modern, and I’m comfortable going here. This is a great place for first-​timers, you’ll keep coming back!

I tried this place because of April’s great review, and I thought I had a few things to share.
The place was very clean & attractive. I did some research online for waxing and this place went over and above for cleanliness! The table has fresh paper, the wax pot is yours — they are cleaned and refreshed for each customer. The wax girl wore gloves.
So, I was impressed. On top of that my attendant was either very knowledgeable or faked it well, and had a great bedside manner — I was pretty freaked out before we started.
