The Lodge at Gainesville

I looked around for ages for nice hotels for a decent price in and around this area. At first I went to lake city and its an absolute dive. I carried on driving to Gainesville and there’s a far bigger selection.
The lodge was $ 89 a night, and I consider anything below $ 100 a decent deal for a good nights sleep.
The room is clean and nice. I have absolutely no complaints there. The lady who greeted me was okay, but had obviously had a long day. It’s a cute looking place and a different layout to your usual chain hotels. The breakfast was good in the morning but only open until 9:30am if you’re a late riser.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is driving through for a quick nights stay. It won’t be the best hotel that you stay in, but for this price it’s an absolute bargain.

Checked into The Lodge on Tuesday, November 24 and stayed until the 27^th. I used to like this place a lot, but not ak much anymore.
First, the hotel house keeping were kind of rude, not to me specifically, but rude nevertheless. I have stayed at the Lodge 3 times this year and with each time, the women would be heard cursing and talking loudly about their personal lives while cleaning rooms. They only stopped to say hello, but then continued their curse-​word filled conversation as I passed. Two of them even cursed their way onto the elevator with me standing in the corner. Didnt phase them one bit (after their hellos of course). I can still recount their convo.
Second, my non smoke roomes smelled old and stale. Didnt quite know what to make of it.
Third, all i heard was door slamming and people running up the hallways, as well as housekeeping talking loudly outside my room door. Not very peaceful for someone like myself who loves to sleep.
Fourth, my cable and wifi went in and out the whole time i was there. Had to end up using my phone. The Tv would work one momemt, and then the next moment be scrambled. Thankfully i wasnt there for business.
Now The guy who workee at the bar, an alumni of Buccholz, was awesome. He makes killer drinks. Then continental breakfast could be better. i also enjoyed the girls who checked me in. I didnt get their names but they were working the around 645pm on Nov 24 when i checked in. They were super friendly and professional. One ev changed out my room because of the smell of cigarette smoke. They should also probably put more lighting in the parking lot. Gets pretty dark at night with all the trees.
I would like to stay here again, but not so sure of it. Im sure a few changes would make this place great again.

We checked in late last night and got two rooms. After a few minutes, the guys in the first room found a bed bug. They were then put into a different room. We immediately did a thorough check but found nothing in our room. I went over to the first room and the manager on duty was already there. He was holding the pillow and showed me the bed bug crawling around on it.
It was roughly 2 am so we didn’t have the time to find another hotel. The next morning, we had to argue with manager in order to get a refund even though they were aware of the problem.
Obviously we will never return.

This is a tired old hotel. The structure of the building is clean but walking into a room feels like you went through a time capsule and it’s 1978. Very loud air-​conditioners along the wall like we had in Howard Johnson’s in 1965. The mattresses are old and thin. The pillows are small. This is a very clean 2 – 3 star hotel and is your discount type hotel. That this hotel has a near four-​star rating rating is nonsense.

Very relaxing place to stay for some rest and relaxation. Lounge area is inviting and relaxing. They even have happy hour. Continental breakfast. The location is very convenient to restaurants and they also offer room service.

It was an okay stay. They only issues that I had are WiFi being weak, cable limited and ac was not working in room. But breakfast was a plus and happy hour at bar was great.

I stayed at The Lodge for 5 days for a conference for my job. First impressions were very good– clean room, comfortable bed and linens, TV with al the channels I needed, a refrigerator (with a bottle of water already chilled inside which was nice because it was HOT outside), microwave, bathrobe, and bathroom essentials like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc.
Days 1 – 2 were great and went off without a hitch except for the absolutely disgusting breakfast. The only redeeming thing about it was the waffle mix and waffle irons. The eggs were watery, the English muffins were doughy even after toasting for a sufficient amount of time, the coffee was gross and the muffins were bland.
After the second day, the free wi-​fi was awful. It barely worked. The hallways seem to get noisier… Perhaps because the weekend was coming and so more visitors to the hotel? I could hear every door as it closed, and people down in the pool hollering excitedly until very late at night. I had a second floor room at the front of the hotel, so I am sure it would have been better in a room closer to the back. They also took my bathrobe away without replacing it, which wasn’t a huge deal, but, you know.
The hotel is located close to everything. I ate downtown a few times during my stay to experience the local fare, but if you’re a fan of chains you will be very happy here as EVERYTHING you can imagine (chain-​wise) is within a 2 mile radius. Even getting to downtown was easy.
If I could I’d give this place a 3.5 but I’m feeling more generous than bitter about my experience. If I was ever to stay in Gainesville again I wouldn’t mind staying at The Lodge again– at least now I know I’m better off at the Waffle House across the street for breakfast :)

My son goes to UF so I have stayed at various hotels so far and The Lodge is one of my faves. Very well priced, front desk upon check in, when I requested a roll a way bed, and when I asked for a taxi service were very helpful and friendly. Beds and pillows were very comfy and clean. Bathrooms were clean and spacious. They have a happy hour with free drinks and popcorn which was great! Yes the drinks are served in plastic cups but seriously folks? They are free. Don’t be divas. Only reason why I gave it four and not five stars is «some» small in room stuff should get a facelift but otherwise I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Regular rates are a little high. But there are deals to be had. It is an older hotel. So it may not measure up to the newer ones around it as far as aesthetics go. But the staff is friendly the rooms are clean. And the bed is comfortable. I booked with a prepaid hotel app and got the room at basically half price. Taking it from a little overpriced to a great value. They have a happy hour and breakfast. Don’t expect much from that but it’s better than nothing. It’s a great location right off of i75 on archer. It’s my go to for Gainesville

My husband and I unexpectedly stopped in Gainesville and feel we were very lucky to have chosen The Lodge. The staff was incredibly accommodating. We found the lobby charming. The room was large, clean, comfortable, and we couldn’t hear the neighbors, which is rare. I even give points for their TV touting a «sanitary» remote, thank you for letting us avoid a CSI black light moment. Also, I appreciated that the exterior lobby doors required key access at night.

When travelling, I tend to shy away from non-​chain hotels as I’m unsure what the quality is going to be like. I’ve stayed in hotels that were plagued by cobwebs and had peeling wallpaper. So I got a great rate to stay here and just kind of hoped that it would be okay.
I’m happy to say that the Lodge at Gainesville beat my expectations. It is conveniently situated by the I-​75, and have large signs by the roadside so it’s super easy to find. Check-​in was a breeze and we were up in our comfortably spacious room in about five minutes after arriving.
The room is pretty typical of what you would expect from a large chain hotel; two beds, a desk/​work area, closet, bathroom, etc. It’s all very clean, plus the air conditioning is easy to use.
My one gripe about the hotel would be if you have the option, pick a room on the interior of the hotel. The windows are covered by a fairly thin drape that’s exposed to some of the harsh street lights outside. As such, sleeping near the window is a bit of a challenge, and there’s no way to draw the larger ornamental curtains over the window.
But all in all, I was very happy with this place, and will probably be back here if I ever have need to stay in Gainesville.

Kicked out on day 32 to make room for university of Florida football game. After staying there for over a month while our father was at Shands Hospital, spending thousands of dollars we were told we would have to leave to make room for Gator fans. The manager was cold and uncaring and when we checked late that night they still had rooms empty at $ 199. We ended up needing a room for an additional 4 days and stayed elsewhere.
Very disappointed.

This hotel is fairly old, but it has charming and redeeming qualities. First off I found it to be clean and nice, and the main lounge area, which is also the breakfast area, is very nice. In the winter I can see this being especially cozy when they fire up the central fireplace and this really start showing off its lodge-​like qualities.
Service is OK, the very day we checked in they had some issues with the key cards — but that was resolved. Several hours before checking in they allowed us to store our bags in the backroom. I like this very much, and it was a tremendous help for us that had temperature sensitive stuff in our bags and didn’t want to leave it in the car in Florida summer heat.
Some people has complaint about the «happy hour» event — but let me set things straight regarding this. I like any hotel that does this, it’s a very nice feature and a nice thing even if it is bottom shelf liquor, it is still complimentary for tips. They had a variety of liquor choices, red wine, white wine, a normal domestic beer and an amber bock. For complimentary this is way further than they needed to go and I for one, do appreciate it.
The breakfast is also OK. Not over the top, but anything that you need for breakfast. I will stay here again. when in Gainesville, which doesn’t happen all that often.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. More than pleasantly surprised. I was impressed. If you’re looking in the 3 star hotel category, this place is a gem. Very comfortable and open lobby with a warm wood interior like a lodge or cabin (hence the name). It was pretty busy too — which I find to be a good thing. Everyone was sitting in the big round lobby and sharing wine or snacks in the evening, having conversation, and watching TV (there’s big nice TVs in the lobby/​sitting area). The hotel has been recently updated/​renovated too (new wallpaper/​fixtures seemed new)
Shower was hot, beds were comfy. — but I did have a stain on my pillow and a stain on my sheets. There was a nice TV in the room. No fridge or microwave in our room. The hotel is right near the on ramp to the highway so it could be noisy. The pool is right near the road kinda too, but there’s a fence and all.
Good service: First room we were assigned smelled like smoke even though the whole place is smoke free (I think) and we had requested a smoke free room. They immediately transferred us to a different room on the same floor with no hassle. (good thing they had one available that was smoke free!)
The free breakfast left much to be desired, despite their attempts at going all out and making it stand out with a waffle maker… Because beyond the waffles, all the food I tasted was sub-​par. They should keep the breakfast simple but good, with quality fresh fruit and breads, real eggs and real sausage/​bacon. That’s all you need!
Overall it was a comfortable environment, and that’s what you’re looking for.

Had higher hopes going into this place. Free breakfast and happy hour lured me in. Let’s start with the happy hour… Only plastic bottle $ 12 handle liquors, but they did have amber bock on tap. And for snacks… wait for it… Pasta salad, with a lady giving out half spoonfuls!
The room is mediocre. Thought the tv would be nicer and the shower head went up to my belly button.
Breakfast the next morning was hilarious. Powdered eggs, and stale biscuits. I’m still waiting on the gravy…
