Lili’s Alterations

Lili is rude, argumentative, and will not listen to what you ask for. If you want to save time, money, and frustration, there’s a trash can out front where you can leave your alterations instead.

This place definitely knows what theyre doing. They are fast and have a great price. If you find somewhere cheaper, they might not do as quality work as this place does. Probably wouldnt go anywhere else but Lili’s:)

Lili is a very polite and pleasant person to work with for clothing alterations. She appears to work well with my dress shirts and dress slacks, but do not take your suit coats or blazers to her. She did not alter my suit correctly, and I did not realize this until the day of my interview, and it was too late to get it fixed. I had to take it to another tailor who was used to mending suits to get it repaired at a later date.

Lili did a great job altering my bridesmaid dress and had it ready in a week all for a much better price than the boutique’s alterations price.

I had a bridesmaid dress altered here. They did a fantastic job. The material was hard to work with and they had it finished on time as promised.

I am very impressed with every aspect of Lili’s. Friendly, fast, good work, timely and reasonable. What more is there to say.

In the past year I’ve brought more than 8 pairs of pants here to be hemmed. The work is always done beautifully and on time. (2 – 3 days) I’ve only brought in pants for hemming, but I’ve seen many different items brought in for alteration. Embroidery services are available too. Same shopping center as Fresh Market & Flying Biscuit. This place is usually busy, so be prepared to wait a few minutes, especially if you need to try on the item you are having altered.

This is based on work that cost me well over $ 100.
I heard good things about Lili’s. It seemed convenient, next to The Flying Biscuit. The place was extremely crowded when I went to get several items altered. I offered to come back but Lili ushered me into a changing room. The process took an hour because clients kept coming in and out and Lili was the only one up front working the register and pinning alterations. Also, it appeared that Lili was the only person who speaks English and could answer my questions and discuss the alteration options. I did not get very personal attention at all and felt very rushed. But, based on recommendation, I stayed.
When I went to pick up my items I did not try them on because the place was so busy once again and it took long enough for them to find my items and I couldn’t afford to wait again. When I got home, two of the items still had pins in several places where the alterations had not been made! That was on two dresses. Other areas on the dresses and pants had been altered. I noticed the stitching in those areas even though it was machine-​stitched was loose. If it had not been poorly done I would have gone back and pointed out the missing changes.
Instead, I cut my losses and followed many other recommendations for Dolores (on NE 16^th Ave). She’s in an unassuming storefront next to a gas station and corner store. She fixed the items and did a fantastic job. She’s a hoot and gave me tons of attention and discussed how to select clothes to flatter my figure. She was also busy and people came in and out but she stayed attentive and focused and I didn’t feel rushed. She really listened. My items are perfect and she took great care to review all the changes with me.
I’m all about customer service. Dolores rocks! Apparently she used to work for Lili’s and she was very respectful about them. She was professional and I love the alterations. Going back to Delores for sure!

Lili is my HERO! I brought in my wedding dress, which we found out was sized incorrectly (I’m not being delusional here, I could care less what size I wear. However this dress was made improperly and the lining was legitimately a size or two smaller than the outer decorative «shell» of the dress. Guess that’s why it was on clearance!). She basically reworked the entire dress and it fit like a dream. Not only was her work impeccable, she was fast and very reasonably priced. Since my wedding, I’ve taken numerous items to Lili’s and have experienced the same excellent service and quality.

Lili is amazing and adorable. She has the hands of a hobbit and the heart of a humpback. Fun fact: humpback whales have hearts the size of a small car.
I’ve had many shirts taken in here and a few pants hemmed. The turnaround is very quick; if you bring it in in the morning and it isn’t a super busy day, it’s normally done by early afternoon. I’ve never had a problem with any of the alterations 3+ years later.
The pricing is normal for an alteration place and the location is great

If you need something done quickly on a small budget this is your place. They’re very friendly and polite and will get you in and out quick.
I’ve dropped off four different items to them and only had a problem once. They likely would have made it right, but I knew they were very busy and didn’t want to chance it so I had the item fixed elsewhere. This error could very-​well have been due to a miscommunication on my part.
I’ll most likely use them again in the future and give them another shot as they did a great job at altering a few pairs of pants and a jacket for me.

Always very friendly and fast service and very reasonable prices. I have had my hems, patches, and other alterations done here for years. They can usually take care of most jobs the same day.
Highly recommended.

Polite, friendly, cheap, accommodating… glad I went here. Only $ 7.50 to fix a rip in the back of a jacket I needed fixed for a wedding. Offered to have it ready by the end of the day! Heck she probably would have done it while I waited if I’d asked. I am encouraged to dig out other damaged garments and drop them off here.

Brought a few things here and I love their work. They listened and did exactly what you asked for. Can’t even tell it got alter. I brought in an evening gown to make the waist smaller and 2 jeans to have it hem.

OK… If you find a better place for alterations, then go. I have used Lili’s for the past 5 years and will continue to do so. She accurate, fast and reasonably priced. If you want a poor job go to Ada’s and see how you do. I trust her to take care of my clothing and have never been disapointed. She was recommended five years ago and I am glad I found her.

Look closely at the above reviews. Note that neither person has any other real history on Unilocal!Lili’s has ALWAYS delivered extremely fine craftsmanship at a very reasonable cost. It’s too bad that someone is so mad they can’t get their fat butt into a dress (or whatever) she wore 20 years ago & nails a great biz like Lili’s for it.

I had a cocktail dress with a tule top that was slightly too big in the back. It needed to be unstitched and brought down just slightly to fit flat against my back. I told her I would come back in a week as I am a graduate student with limited time. After trying the dress on, the tule was not flat and was scrunched since it had been re-​sewn as opposed to being unstitched and fixed correctly. Cutting corners shows on tule! I mentioned that this was a hassle for me and she proceeded to ask me if I thought that she likes having to do things twice and asking other offensively rhetorical questions. This was not a language barrier. This was just rude customer service. Expensive, horribly unprofessional and verbally combative. I would never take something to her that you expect to get on time or without an attitude. I’m only 5 foot and I’ll be here for another 4 years, so she lost a very valuable customer and couldn’t have cared less. Hopefully she doesn’t ruin my dress. I’ll remove this if I get no attitude and a good alteration in the end.

I don’t post many reviews on Unilocal but felt obligated to say something to counter the extremely negative review below. I’ve taken upwards of twenty pieces to Lili’s and have never had a bad experience. The seamstresses are attentive and upfront about what they can and cannot do. I’ve had extremely delicate pieces (like an open-​weave cashmere sweater and silk and jersey items) fixed to be better than new. If something doesn’t fit right after it’s been tailored with them, they’ll keep tailoring it until it works at no additional cost. Their service is speedy. It’s probably a little pricier than I’d like, but in my opinion that’s great service you’re paying for. Lili seems to have lots of dedicated customers, and the shop is always full, with a relaxed and homey feel. I recommend it over the only other tailor I’ve tried, Jacqueline’s, which was stiff and unfriendly.

RUINED MY DRESS AND INSULTED ME! I studied costume design in college so I know how to tailor clothes, I really just didn’t have the time to do this myself. I took in a dress with a strapless sweetheart neckline that was slightly too big on the top, and she assured me that she could take it in with no issues. I went in two days later and the dress was absolutely BUTCHERED beyond repair. She didn’t take it in evenly from both sides so it was completely lopsided, causing the corseted top to crease over on one side. I politely said it was too tight and it was making my skin hang over the dress, and she refused to acknowledge her mistake. She kept saying that once I put a bra on it would look fine, so I put a bra on and I couldn’t even zip the dress up! She offered fix it (I don’t know why because it was irreparable) but made a billion different excuses, including-​my personal favorite: «IT’S JUST YOUR BODY, I’M NOT A PLASTIC SURGEON, I CAN’T CUT YOUR SKIN OFF” – mortifying! I’m 5’5» and 115lbs, btw. I was so insulted that I finally said I would pay her and take it somewhere else to get it fixed. As soon as I stepped into the fitting room to take it off she started (very obviously) complaining to her colleagues in her native language. When I came out she tried to grab the dress out of my hands to make another excuse and I firmly pulled it out of her hands and said «No. I’m finished. I’m going to pay you and take the dress elsewhere.» She charged me $ 30 instead of the original $ 35 agreed upon. $ 30 to ruin a $ 300 dress and call me fat-​NEVER AGAIN!
