I Love New York Pizza Haile Plantation

This is the closest thing to actual New York pizza. Great food good prices and friendly staff.

I think we have all been in this situation. It’s lunch time, you’re unpacking your sensible, and healthy lunch brought from home, when your co-​worker sits down next to you with something so delicious smelling that it instantly makes your lunch unappealing. This happened to me just the other day. The culprit? Three giant slices of cheese pizza from I Love New York Pizza! And just like the proverbial ear worm that you can’t get out of your head, from that point on I had visions of pizza slices doing the two step in my head! Well, this had to be remedied. The next day I decided to give in to my dancing pizza slices (which were surprisingly good dancers) and stop by the I Love New York Pizza for a couple slices.
The store sits in a strip mall in the Haile Plantation shopping center, ironically located next to a gym. There was outdoor seating and about an isle’s worth of seats inside that ran the length of the store. Upon entering the store the ordering counter, and pizza display counter are immediately on your right. It was Thur, so they were running a lunch special of two slices of specialty pizza, and a fountain drink for $ 7.95. I was originally going to go for a couple of slices of cheese, but was informed by the cashier that slices were $ 3.95 each. That was a little pricey for plain cheese, so I opted for the combo. The Anna Maria, a pizza with meatballs, pasta, sausage, ricotta, and oregano was my first slice. My second, was the Wall Street, their version of a supreme with sausage, pepperoni, onions, and green pepper.
In a few minutes my slices were packed and ready to go! The Anna Maria was crispy, had abundant melty cheese, and the pasta wasn’t soft or overcooked. There wasn’t much representation of the meatball on the pizza, but it was tasty when one turned up. The crust was crunchy with a hint of caramelization. A very good effort for a slice that has pasta which can easily turn crunchy, or mushy.
The Wall Street was loaded with the sweet Italian sausage. The green pepper still had a fresh crunch to it. The pizza got a little doughy at the back end, but the crust was crisp and slightly sweet. There wasn’t a lot of sauce, which I generally like, but it didn’t get in the way of my enjoyment of the slice.
The two slices went down easy… maybe a little too easy. I was definitely full almost half way through the second slice. Overall, I Love New York Pizza does not suck!

Great crust and great toppings make for a very good pizza. I got the meat lovers and it was outstanding. Would highly recommend their pizza

There is no pizza like Dough Religion in the whole Gainesville area … This pizza is good but far from the Dough Religion pizza!

Drove all over Gainesville because of these reviews. Overhyped. Overpriced.

Donot eat Pasta here. Alfredo especially. Its just pasta in milk.

Just moved here from NC so got a free cheese pizza. Paid $ 2 for them to add pepperoni… when we picked it up there were maybe 10 (a couple slices with only 1). Ordered some garlic knots, they looked really good in the window. They were bigger than the ones I’m used to and looked more like a giant dinner roll braided on top. Butter, minced garlic and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning on top. Bottoms of the rolls were dark brown meaning they were cooked too long. Had to put them in the microwave for a few seconds to soften up a bit. Taste of the pizza is just ok. It’s definitely not the best I’ve had but not disgusting. Agree with the other comments about the inside being really small and cramped. I’m kinda scared if this is the best pizza y’all have around here. But on the plus side the owners are very nice. At least I assume I was speaking to the owners. Gives you family owned and they are confident they are the best around.

Good NY style pizza. Very friendly staff. Sell it by the slice or a whole pizza. Roma is pretty good. I go by here on occasion and I haven’t been disappointed. I think the prices are pretty reasonable, too.

Super small, kinda sad $ 9.00 «large» house salad. Need to double the effort and get some salad bowls for a decent size salad. Pizza dough was quite good but not as good as Italian Gator.

Best pizza in Gainesville. We miss it so much since we moved out of Haile Plantation! Thin crust New York style… love it.

My coworkers and I go here a few times a month. Everyone at the restaurant is so nice. They have all different kinds of pizza and it is huge! There specials are amazing and they have a different one every day.

After living in NYC, it is difficult to find good pizza in Florida. The pizza here reminds me of the pizza I would buy as a college student on the lower east side. The Monday special reminds me of the great prices too. Love this place.

Good solid pizza that my whole family enjoys. Try the grandma’s pizza for a great, fresh tasting sauce. They will add whatever toppings you want. I agree with others that the inside eating area is like a hallway, which is the reason that we always get our items to go. I don’t recommend the wings. Whoever was cutting the wings didn’t know what they were doing. They were greasy and overcooked. We haven’t tried the entrees so I can’t comment on those. This is our go to pizza place when we want a good pie.

This is my to go pizza place in Gainesville! The pizzas here are really good (especially their specialties). You can order whole pies or slices that are really big. The crust is nice and crispy while the toppings are fresh! I lived in queens new york for awhile and this pizza is the closest I’ve had that is similar. The staff is always smiling and the owner makes small talk and ensures everyone is happy.
Not only are the pizzas good but their entrées are also on point; I really enjoy their eggplant parmesan entrée and I leave full. They sometimes have written down entrée specials and I give those a go and I have yet to be disappointed.
The calzones are really greasy but full of flavor. But, lets be honest, you wrap up three types of meat that have a lot of fat in it anyways and you bake it; of course theres gonna be a lot of oil because thats just how the ingredients are naturally! Id be more afraid if it wasnt oily. I just tilt it and so some of the oil will drip out. That being said, some reviews complain about the pizzas being too oily but again, you have cheese and meats that make oil so no surprise it might be oily. If its too oily, you can use their unlimited ultra special napkins to pat out the oil! Did I mention it was unlimited???
They even have a punch card rewards program that you ask for free. What other pizzeria does that?
All in all, this a place for really good pizza and other dishes. I gave a 4 star only because inside is really small if you want to eat in but there is a really nice patio area if the weather is nice.

The pizza here is tasty. The inside eating area is like eating in a hallway it’s so narrow and confined. The patio is nice when the weather is cool. The staff is always friendly and quick.

My husband and I were in town visiting Gainesville and came across a groupon for this pizza place. The portion sizes were on the larger side and the prices were reasonable. We ordered a slice of pizza and a meat calzone. Everything tasted great. The only reason they are getting a 4 out of 5 from me is because they were all out of the slice of pizza my husband wanted so he had to pick something else.
The inside of this establishment is a little small but they have a very nice outside seating area to enjoy your food. I believe I met the owner and he was very kind and wanted to make sure everything tasted great and that we were enjoying our food. If we are ever visiting that area and are craving pizza, I would definitely return.

Best pizza in Gainesville hands down. There are some places that get lots of hype but this place crushes them all. All I get is a plain cheese pizza-​hits the spot every time. Crust is thin, slightly chewy, not oversauced. Reminds of the pizza I used to get in my hometown that was made by a local Sicilian family.

For being a small local pizza place I love the food here. Price is good and always quick. I honestly prefer there pizza more than any chain

We’ve had pizza twice from here, and can honestly say that after trying three other pizza places in Gainesville, this one wins by a mile. Consistently cheesy, fresh and delicious, with just the right amount of garlic! And the garlic rolls are sent from heaven above — dripping with garlic and oil and absolutely sinful… don’t eat too many! Another favorite is the spaghetti with meat sauce — chunks of meatballs cut up in a delicious, fresh, tomato-​y sauce that makes this pasta dish a complete meal in itself. Salads are a wonderful mix of different types of greens, and fresh, fresh, fresh — just the way a salad should be!
Oh, and did I mention the staff? Each time we’ve picked up our take-​out order, the staff is smiling, friendly and overly attentive! The tables are always filled with happy customers, busily scarfing down their own obviously delicious meals. Really, you can’t ask for anything more, right?

I’m so sad to give this place a low rating, but it must be done.
Working in the area, I was a regular — stopping by for lunch at 3 – 4 times a week…
There food was always very good and the prices very reasonable.
But alas, I’ve stopped going and here’s why:
(1) Within the last month, the quality has just tanked. They’re buying cheap products. They’re pizza, strombolis and colzones we’re never greay… now grease flows off their food like a river — a sign of a cheap, sub-​par product.
(2) At the same time, they jacked up all the prices. Lunch Special used to be $ 4.95, up to $ 5.95 — for lessor quality.
So sad and does not make any sense! They had a good business, the place was always packed at lunch… not anymore
