I’m sure that this group probably treats their animals very well. I’m sure that they probably take very god care of the pets until they are adopted. However, I have no experience with that — this review is of the customer service and communication(or lack thereof) that I received in my attempt to adopt a dog from them. On a Saturday evening, using the PetFinder app on my phone, I found a dog I was interested in adopting. I sent an email, as instructed by the website, to acquire more information and request an application. I was responded to almost immediately with the forms to fill out, and confirmation that I dog I inquired about was still available. I filled out the forms and sent them back that night. Part of their outgoing email signature states that they need to be given up to 72 hours to respond to any email they receive. So, I waited. She contacted me again on that Monday evening to clarify some of the answers I had given — that I had misunderstood and not originally provided correct information for. And that was the last I ever heard from her.(As of writing this, it’s been 8 days…) Thursday evening would have been 72 hours. I waited until Friday evening and sent another email saying that I just wanted to follow up, and to see what the next step in the process was so I could continue moving forward with adopting this dog. I assumed I would hear back over the weekend — or at least by Monday. But I didn’t hear back. Monday afternoon I looked at the website again and the dog I was inquiring about has been removed from the website. I can only assume that the picture and information was removed because the dog was adopted out. Apparently, it’s their practice to passive-aggressively ignore me until I go away, rather than tell me, «I’m sorry, but this dog has been adopted by someone who started the process a few days before you.» Or, «You live too far away; no one wants to come inspect your home in Atlanta all the way from Gainesville.» Or whatever the case may be. Rather than just respond to me and give me the bad news like an adult, they are going to just ignore me. They have my full name, my home and email address, my home and cell phone numbers… if they wanted to get in touch with me, I’ve made myself available. They clearly just don’t care. It amazing to me that people can treat their pets so well — but have no idea how to decently interact with other people. I don’t care if the absolute most perfect dog in the world shows up in their arms — I will not be seeking them out for potential adoptions in the future.
