Spoon Me

As much as I adore froyo (like, really, I could eat entire vats of the stuff without blinking an eye!) there isn’t much these days that sets one apart from the other. And that’s sad.
Just like all the rest in the city, Spoon Me offers your standard 8 — 10 or so flavors which rotate out periodically. My favorite this time around had to be the cake batter and red velvet. Sometimes unique varieties like root beer float and mint pop up, but you always have the regulars that please everyone.
Get a sample cup. Grab your bowl. Fill ‘er up with how ever much froyo you want. And then load it with toppings. (You really have about 50 options — about anything you can think of to put on froyo basically.)
It’s the same concept. Same color scheme. Same layout. Same flavors. Same toppings. Same. Same. Same.
Don’t get me wrong — I LOVE froyo and there SHOULD be a froyo place on every corner, in every neighborhood, but since there is, I think I’d prefer to hit up a locally owned one rather than a franchised chain that does everything the same as everyone else. Just my two cents.

I was desperately craving some fro-​yo, and decided to try something other than Orange Leaf.
Made the drive here to Gahanna, purchased the raspberry and rootbeer float flavors. I added shredded coconut, strawberries, and a Maraschino cherry :)
Total cost was around $ 6, but it didn’t bother me — I’m willing to pay the big bucks when it comes to satisfying the sweet tooth.
Customer service was cool, calm, collected — just the way I like it.
Lots of people here on a Sunday night, mostly families with their small children.
I’ll be back the next time a sugar craving arises.

Weird after taste. I’ve tried so many other of the new yogurt places in Columbus, and none of them have the weird after taste of Spoon Me.
Clean place, but something is wrong with the product.

Loads of «suggestive suggestions» to giggle shamelessly at while I enjoy delicious fro-​yo? Deal.
It’s your standard frozen yogurt joint; tasty food, colorful restaurant.
I had the same experience as others when I visited; there was no greeting, a guy just happened to appear out of the back when we were ready to check out. He was still friendly, it just seemed like he had a lot of other things to do (since he was the only one there).

A fun little shop on the row at the north end of Stoneridge. Choose from a variety of FroYo’s along the wall (I went with a half-​and-​half of the White Chocolate Mousse and Key Lime), then top it with all kinds of crunchy stuff (including most major candy bars, Cap’n Crunch and the standard sundae-​type stuff) and other stuff, like cookie dough and cheesecake pieces.
Be careful… it goes by weight, so if you go crazy on the toppings and such, you’ll know it. ;)
If you use social check-​in stuff and show your check in, they give you a bonus punch on the incentive card, so be sure to ask which check-​in platforms they recognize. The flavors rotate, so… lots of potential dessert fun here.

All these froyo places are starting to blur and the initial excitement is wearing off.
Nonetheless, its still the hottest summer ever, I had coupons for $ 1 off and I hadn’t been to Spoon Me yet and with that enough reasons to have to try it along with all the others.
The set up the same as the others, although here there is no friendly greeting, in fact the only guy working was hiding in the back the entire time.
We got two cups with a bit of each flavor and some of the toppings and it came up to $ 2 (without coupon it would have been $ 4)
I guess descent but we didn’t have much at all.
They all tasted fine, nothing special, nothing horrible, fits right in.
Don’t think I would bother going back, but its another froyo place checked off my list.
Truthfully I wish they would get back into good old fashioned ice cream and open up some more of those places!

Better than many ice cream establishments but my least favorite of all all the per ounce, neon, yogurt places. Orange Leaf and Cup O Yo have better actual yogurt. All toppings seem standard. Quirky, memorable name.

I love the concept. You grab a cup, serve up your favorite flavor (s) of froyo, and top it from the topping bar, then weigh and pay. Simple, no? Except there are just too many options. My favorite so far is the raspberry with white chocolate chips, but I’m just getting started, diet be darned. I have a feeling that I’m going to truly become a regular. Just beware, their cups hold quite a bit of frozen yogurt, so it’s easy to go overboard.

This place is alirght. I do enjoy their flavors — especially natural tart and cotton candy. I also like the sprinkle station. It made me feel like a kid in a candy store. What I didn’t like were the cups. You are only given one size –HUGE. I realize they do this in hopes you fill it up all the way and spend more money. If you are trying to watch yourself and not go over board, you still don’t know what you will end up spending till you get it weigh. That bothers me.

Not Jeni’s. But for frozen yogurt… it’s better than Orange Leaf. The flavors are way more delicious and we were able to taste before purchasing. Orange Leaf never offered tastes. I loved the MINT and definitely try the mochi balls. If you don’t know which item are the mochi balls, ask!

Went here for «ice cream» not realizing what was in store for me. I tried some of the pomegranate, which was amazing, but decided to go for a smoothie instead. I think it was called Limelicious, and it was definitely tasty.
Ingredients for my smoothie were scooped right off the topping bar, no mystery sludge from a bottle in the fridge.
It didn’t knock my socks off, but I’d go back for a smoothie every so often.

I went here while I was in the neighborhood and had some time to kill… and let’s face it, I never pass up an opportunity to try a new froyo place! I really wanted to like this place. But after trying almost every flavor, it just wasn’t happening. Most flavors had almost a medicine taste to them (I should know!). The peanut butter was decent– and the chocolate/​mint swirl wasn’t bad, either. Glad I had the chance to try the yogurt here without having to drive out of the way to do so, but it’s doubtful I’ll return anytime soon. If you live in the Gahanna area and have a hankering for some frozen yogurt, this may be the most convenient one… but it could be worth your time to drive a little further to indulge in some of the other fine froyo places Columbus has to offer.

I love Spoon Me.
It advertises itself with cheeky slogans and quasi-​suggestive unmentionables as a healthy alternative to whatever else you might eat. The yogurt is fat free and there’s fresh fruit, and blah blah blah healthy healthy healthy, but for me all the health concerns go out the door when I see the buffet of chocolate-​based toppings.
Spoon Me is 100% self-​serve: You get a giant bowl and pick one of the 12 or so flavors of froyo. The froyo itself is usually pretty good, but there are some less-​than-​stellar flavors. Be sure to try a sample before you invest in a full order.
Once you’ve filled your bowl you move down the line and top it with STUFF. Man, I love stuff. The toppings range for the ooey (cheesecake cubes) to the gooey (walnuts and maple syrup) to the candy (Snickers, Kit-​Kats, M&Ms…mmmmmmm) to the legitimately healthy (fresh kiwi, mango, and other fruits). There’s something for everyone at the stuff buffet.
I think the price is more than reasonable. I’ve never had a bowl over $ 3.00 and always walk away satisfied. It’s less expensive than Jeni’s, but more expensive than Dairy Queen. Also, you get $ 1.00 off if you stop in while it’s raining!
Spoon Me has quickly become a favorite spot to stop in for a quick snack, meal, or dessert.

3.5 We are pretty much weekend regulars here. I’m glad they took care of a few of my «cons» which included not being able to see how much your cup weighed (so I always had to ask)…they’ve put a display on the front of the register. The other thing they improved was I think they raised the glass covering the toppings because you can actually reach back there now.
Still have some improving to do especially with the 15 – 17 year old revolving staff who sometimes look lost as to what to do but are always nice. Also, it does no good to call and ask what flavors they have for the day because they never get it right. I REALLY wish they would get regular with their Facebook postings («Names of the day» posted every few days) and they would list their flavors of the day in the mornings. 2 of my favorite flavors are rotators so I don’t like to go and find they don’t have what I like. Not sure how hard it is to read a list of what you’ve made today. *shrug*
Now, if they would only scrub the floor. It looks absolutely *disgusting* in there. We’ve watched the floor get this grotesque layer of sticky toppings and yogurt drippings mixed with dirt from peoples shoes so there is a gross trail from the second you walk in to the very back of the shop. They can’t be deep cleaning the floor every night because it wouldn’t look like that if they did.

I’ve had bad experiences with fro yo all over Columbus but this changes my mind. Especially after eating at Piada just a couple spaces over, thus was a perfect desert.
And the chick working there was really cute, always a plus.

I do love the pun intended with the name… they even play on it by selling underwear and t-​shirts… Different concept for a frozen yogurt place.
What I love most about this place is that its close to home — much better than driving all the way across town to Orange Leaf…
They have a good number of flavors to choose from, and they seem to rotate fairly frequently! I went back only 4 days after trying a sugar-​free cinnamon yogurt (YUMMMMMMM!!!)… and it was not available — booo.
Anyway, they always have a good mix of low-​fat, non-​fat, and sugar-​free.
Of course there is a huge boofay (buffet for you proper types) of toppings including a nice selection of fresh fruit.
I do love frozen yogurt! It seems finally be making a presence here in Columbus. Yay!

With so many of these little places popping up, it’s fun to go try them ALL! This particular location kind’ve looks like all the rest of them.
The staff was very young, but friendly! There was a nice selection of yogurts, though not as large as Orange Leaf or some of the larger chain yogurt shops. But it was a good experience and I’ve been back twice!

Spoon Me has about 10 or 12 flavors to choose from, all the usual flavors, and some more exotic choices like pineapple and acai berry. They also have smoothies that looked pretty tasty.
I ended up getting the tart because that’s my usual at other places and it was not quite as good as Cuzzins, but better than yagoot which is the next closest option.
The toppings were plentiful and the fruit was all very good, but some of the options were almost impossible to reach. At first I thought it was because I’m short but pretty much everyone I watched trying to get something from the back had the same problem.
All in all I’m sure I’ll be back. So glad Gahanna got a froyo option!

Froyo and underwear. This place just opened yesterday. It’s a slightly different concept for frozen yogurt. You go to the back of the establishment, grab a (huge) cup and choose a flavor of frozen yogurt from one of about 12 flavors. It appears that the flavors rotate but today included chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, mango, lemon, fresh tart (?), strawberry banana, pistachio and I don’t recall the rest. They have some insanely small sampler cups that are comical to attempt to use but I tried the pistacio because I was curious. It was too strong a flavor for my taste. I decided I’d go with chocolate as none of the fruity flavors sounded appealing to me today. Unfortunately all that came out was a drippy chocolate mess. Hmmm, guess I’ll go with vanilla.
After securing a reasonable portion of vanilla frozen yogurt I made my way to the self serve salad bar style toppings area. I added a few toppings and met my wife at the checkout where our cups were weighed (sold based on weight) and we paid $ 6.xx for our dessert. This seemed perhaps slightly above average cost based on our portions (my wife had a very small amount of froyo and I’d say mine was a normal portion.
On to the tasting. My vanilla yogurt had absolutely no flavor. I remarked to my wife it just tasted «cold». I tried her mint and it was pretty good in comparison. I have to admit at the time I did not realize the product was completely fat free and should have cut it more slack had I known this. As an aside, I’m kind of tired of the term fat free as if that makes it healthy. Don’t insult my intelligence, fat is no worse for you than sugar/​carbs or anything else. If this crap has a buttload of calories it’s no better for you than pepperoni pizza. My vanilla had that slightly gritty texture similar to a Wendy’s frosty and this along with the lack of flavor did not leave me with much of an impression.
I plan on going back at some point to try a different flavor as most of the people there seemed to be enjoying theirs. But honestly we have some excellent ice cream options on the northeast side and I don’t expect this place will draw me back very often.
