Founded in 2002, Blackstone Pub & Eatery is in the business of serving pizza made like we were serving it to our parents, pouring handcrafted beer, and featuring local to regional live music like the coolest mix-​tape you never heard. Our award winning pizzas are something to brag about, even if Mom always told us not to be that way. From the Margherita to the Dude, the Blackstone to the Jerk, just pick one. We’ve got one for everybody and they’re all good. People used to come for the beer and have a pizza. We’re proud to say they come for the pizza and have a beer now. Our beer selection features over 150 choices, ranging from small draft-​only microbrews to good ‘ol PBR. We are especially proud to spotlight Alabama beers, including our own local brewery Back Forty Beer Company. Our live music programs run the gamut from the long-​standing Tuesday night jazz and acoustic to featuring bands at The Blackstone.

We tried this for the first time Saturday night. Amazing pizza! The cheese dip and chips were good, but they also serve it with strips of garlic bread! Who would think of that!!! But it was good! Friendly atmosphere, my only complaint was the guy clearing the tables acted like he really hated his job, not holding back any stars tho, because everyone has a bad day!

I wasn’t ready for this pizza.
When the pizza came to the table it looked like any other pizza… round. I took my first bite and dropped to my knees. And immediately realized their 3.5 star rating must of been on a scale of 3. Was this pizza heaven? After my second bite I felt like I was struck by lightning and bit by a cobra at the same time. When I wanted to tell someone about it no body knew what I was saying, I suddenly realized I was speaking fluent Italian… I’m not Italian. And I don’t even know what Rosetta Stone is. Would I recommend it to a friend? «Farai meglio a crederci!»

The business model of this place seems to be about great layout and décor, really totally decent food, it’s quite good, it’s about being clean and having good bands (which like most musicians I know keep the room too loud to allow patrons to have a conversation, or place a coherent order at the bar) the band is great but consistently way too loud! there are no floor staff, just a clean up bus boy that works hard. But no servers on the floor, that would costs money the owners don’t seem to want to spend. This place needs two seasoned bar managers on staff, present in two shifts. I say this as someone that was in the business many years,. The staff try really hard, it’s not their fault they are not given what they need to their job.

Blackstone? More like Whackstone! The food is great, I won’t lie. However, I go there one night and there stands a tall, slender, man-​bunned masochist working those pizza ovens like that white guy in Roots was working the whip on Kunta Kinte. Nobody applauded him at all, in fact, they treated him horribly. Whackstone, if this is how you treat your Rembrandts and your Pollacks, how will you ever open a Louvre? Holy shit with the music too. If I wanted to hear a bunch of Communist metrosexuals sing about daddy never coming back I’d go to the bar my son plays music at and sit in the back and wonder where I went wrong. Also, I know this might come off as mean, I’m not trying to rag on anyone but your bartenders are kind of gross. Not gross in the conventional way mind you, but gross in the way that I would talk to you but I wouldn’t want you in my car.

The Hippie nachos are really good. I can even handle the jalapeños. Did not like the salsa but it had a smokey flavor others might like.
He ordered the Blackstone pizza. Very good.
I had the Margherita pizza. A little salty but still darn good.
It’s was a Sunday afternoon so kind or quiet. Only 1 bartender and 1 cook. Do you judge.

Great place to hear some music. The famous white cheese dip was great. It’s great with the chips but when you eat it with the toasted bread it’s over the top.

We love Blackstone, though I DETEST smoking in restaurants. I certainly hope our area catches up to surrounding towns in this matter.
That being said, the beer selection is VERY impressive. The pizzas are good, but rich. I would love if they served some lighter fare. Additionally, this would be a PERFECT Irish pub, so I would be thrilled if they took their food in that direction. A great burger, shepherd’s pie, etc would totally work in this space.
Eliminate the smoking, and tweek the menu and this is the best place in town.

Went there to see what local beers they had, big mistake, it is a true southern bar with only bar food, and the entire place is SMOKING, Living in Oregon this was a surprise to me. I will not return.

The only reason I can’t give this bar 5 stars is the lack of handwashing i witnessed behind the bar… One of the bartenders was playing with her chewing gum and then reached into the jumbo jar of olives for someone’s martini… gross.
Other than that, I love Blackstone… they make a delightful «grateful dead» and have excellent pizzas. Live music most nights of the week & a low or non-​existent cover charge make this one of the best places to spend an evening in Gadsden. Good stuff.

Great Bartenders (Logan and Ashley). Really good pizza and live music most nights. They have a wide selection of beer, including local beers and microbrews. If you have never stopped in, then check it out on a Thursday night.
