Absolutely the BEST meatball grinder! Our first visit was because it was convenient to the high school. Every other visit has been because the food is amazing. Not feeling like pizza on that first visit, my husband and I shared a meatball grinder. It sparked a craving for another. Not wanting to travel all the way back to J&S(an extra 2 minutes), I ordered one from a closer place. No good– dog food comes to mind. I tried yet another place– yuck. I finally just gave up and admitted to myself that I would drive an extra 2 hours for this meatball grinder. The pizzas are also great. They are not skimpy with the topping and the crust is pretty perfect too. We have dined in a couple times and the service is always great. The waitstaff is good humored and attentive. It is always an enjoyable experience.

I am sitting in this restaurant posting this review. This will be the last time I visit. We made it a point to call in our order at this restaurant is very slow, but it is now 20 minutes past the time we were told our food will be ready. No apologies. The restaurant is cold and dirty, and the staff is loud. I started coming here because I was a fan of their parents restaurant in Apex, but this one has always been a disappointment. Won’t be back again.

Tried after we heard it was tasty. We around 2 O’Clock. Upon entering what appeared to be a very slow buffet. We had to wait a few minutes to be greeted to be seated. After inquiring about pizza by the slice on the menu we were told they were not serving it by the slice that day, considering buffet we really want a fresh pie to try for the first time. We ended up getting an extra large and after 35 long minutes they brought us are pizza except 2 slices claiming they had holes in them ??? 10 minutes later I got my 2 slices, crust and cheese underneath cooked very well and all additional toppings not so well. Pizza tasted like something out of a bake case found in various gas stations. My conclusion was they gave us a pizza that was sitting out on they buffet that ended 10 minutes after we ordered. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!(((BEWARE)))

This is a hard one to write. I wish I could give 2 ½ stars. I live in Apex & it seems the one here is moving to a new location & won’t be opened until around the 1st of the year, so I was told to go to the one in Fuquary-Varina. Also told the food was great. Um– not so much. Service was good. Server very friendly & helpful. I went for lunch & it had a buffet with pizza & pasta. It was lukewarm at best. If that was NYC pizza– well, not any I’ve ever had in New York. The marinara sauce had no real favor, however, the Alfredo sauce & pasta was very good. There was something that had been on the buffet but the dish was empty & it was never refilled. The salad was just plain old iceberg lettuce with the add ons being: tomatoes, croutons, onion, banana peppers &4 kinds of dressings. Don’t know if they were, but the dressing tasted bottled. Maybe if I had gotten something off the menu it would have been different. Didn’t like anything enough to go back. Might try the one here when it opens, but not sure when there are so many other pizza/Italian places around.

I am conflicted with my rating. The pizza here is really great. Thin crust, NYNY style, the right amount of crust, that good crunch of the crust with the soft center. The right amount of sauce and cheese, good size pie for a fair price. But the service is horrible. My 8 Year Old son spilled his drink. Not a single employee offers a towel or even to help clean it up. Than the wad of wet napkins sits the rest of the meal and was still there when we left. I had one refill of water but it was when I had just the crust left on the second piece of pizza. I drink a lot when I eat and I had no water for ten minutes. The waitress never suggested or offered anything. But she really liked looking at the pile of napkins at the edge of the table. No smile, maybe she was a little off for having to work Halloween night? If it was up to me a 2.5 star rating would be earned. 5 star for the great pizza but 1 star for the very lack luster service.

I ordered a thin crust with 2 toppings, well the crust wasn’t thin there wasn’t any pizza sauce on the pizza they brought me out marinara sauce in a cup. I am convinced that nobody in North Carolina can make pizza. So disappointed!!!

Awesome! Until tonight, I only had the pizza(and it IS wonderful), but I felt like venturing out of the pizza world & into the Lobster Ravioli realm. Oh my… Their price is lower than another restaurant in town, and this dish is exponentially better than the other place. Talk about LOBSTER??? These raviolis are filled with it, unlike other restaurants versions of this meal. The vodka sauce is on point, as well. Generous portion… Even the house salad(included) is great. I don’t know many house salads that include tomatoes, onions, banana peppers, as well as green & black olives. Perfect! Definitely recommend!

My husband’s family came to visit from Western NY, and being from Harnett County with very few good restaurants, we decided to drive to Fuquay to treat them to a nice dinner. We ended up at J&S on a Friday night when Aviator wouldn’t give us a reservation, and honestly I’m glad we did! Though there were 7 of us, we got right in to a table. Service was a little slow, but every table was full so we understood. We ordered appetizers and everyone got a different entrée. It’s rare to have everyone in a group love their food but we all did. I highly recommend the fried ravioli app and Penne a la Vodka. Just be prepared to take half or more home, the portions are huge. We also got cannoli to go which were on point. Thanks a lot, you made a table full of New Yorkers very happy!

Love the pizza, but you absolutely have to try the stromboli cheesesteak. There’s a pound of steak and a pound of cheese inside of a 16 inch stromboli. I love the buffet too, only place I’ve found that actually has the same pizza on the buffet.

Sorry for the price and the size of the pie not worth it. Not to mention that they are so busy in the back they are arguing in front of customers and getting orders mixed up. The pizza itself I’ve had way better.

The food here is great but in the many years we’ve eaten here, service has consistently been mediocre, at best. Order to go and you won’t be disappointed.

Went here for dinner with the family last night, and I was very pleased. Be prepared for your food to take awhile, but when it comes out it’ll be worth the wait. There were two large groups dining at the same time so that could be why the food took a bit longer. Everything was very fresh and the pizza was full of toppings. The garlic knots were fantastic. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. If I’m ever around this area again I will be sure to take home a pizza.

Have tried to see the value in this place for several visits. But we’ve given up! They just do not appear to give a rat’s rear end about customer service. If this was just a take-out joint, I could understand the blasé attitude of the waitstaff. But we’re paying customers! Like other reviewers, we find the pizza soggy and laden with oil. The wait for our food has without fail been too long. It’s like the cook waits 15 minutes before deciding to put the pizza in the oven. It’s PIZZA, fercrissakes! Get it done! Also found their prices to be a bit too rich for our pocketbook. There are better offerings in FV

The food is fantastic, but the staff is known around town for being less than helpful. If you go, don’t expect decent service or quick dining… At all…

Where do I start? We have passed this place many times and it is always busy. We stopped tonight and gave it a whirl. Pretty good at best for pizza quality. The garbage pizza was very greasy which is more likely about the number of toppings. Fair is a reach in describing service. We had to ask for straws, ask for utensils and our order was interrupted by other patrons as we spoke. The fried mushrooms get a great. All and all it worked in a pinch but we will likely not return.

We’ve only stopped in for pizza lately, but it’s probably my favorite place in town(of the two I’ve tried). The restaurant is clean, service is usually attentive but the speed depends on how busy the night is. It’s not a big deal for us since we don’t like feeling rushed and will take our time when we are out. The zucchini sticks are good, but I’m the jerk that usually bites into them way too soon and singes the roof of my mouth. I love the pizza– the thickness of the crust is perfect for me, and the toppings are usually pretty abundant. We haven’t done delivery, but maybe one day we will branch out and be lazy. I forget which night it is, but there’s a special of two large pizzas and wings that is a steal. We get it probably more than we should, which is why it’s pathetic that I can’t remember which night it is.

Stopped by for the lunch buffet(Friday, 8⁄23 @ 1:20pm) thinking this would be a great experience. We were seated,(only two other tables w/customers) told the waitress we wanted the buffet, so instead of taking our drink order, she left to get another waitress who finally showed up to get our drink order. The buffet looked terrible, pans of dried up pasta that were 90% empty, only two half– pizzas, and some garlic knots swimming in oil. I asked for some fresh food to be brought out and the cooked acted really put out. The waitress DID ask what kind of pizza we wanted, but unfortunately we didnt stay long enough to get it. I got a small salad and one garlic knot, already knowing what it would be like. My wife picked up one slice of pizza, two meatballs.(oddly there was no pasta to go with them) and she grabbed one small scoop of the left-over penne w/barely any sauce. My garlic knot was so tough it was un-edible and similar to rubber. The pizza was terrible, and the rest of the food was stone cold. My wife took one bite of the pizza, one piece of penne and one meatball, which she spit out. I went to tell the wait staff about the food and to let them know we wouldnt be staying. My wife had a Diet Coke, which she had taken two sips of and I had water. I asked how much the drink was and was told $ 2. I handed the waitress the two bucks… ANDSHEACTUALLYTOOKIT! Seriously?!? Im thinking that she will say«dont worry about it», or something to that effect… Nope, she took my dough and walked off. … a $ 2 lesson., We wont go back, which is a shame because the Apex store ALWAYS had great food. We both used to eat there frequently when we worked EMS in Apex years ago. Im sure the father of these kids would be upset to know they are ruining the J&S name.
